Hi Jason, thank you. I did coat the back of the plywood with bitumen to stop that, but I also think that if it does rot, just the fiberglass will still be strong enough.

@@OneHeartMission yeah I think I’m just more concerned about carpenter ants and termites that would feed on the plywood. I think there may be a way to treat it however. In any case you did a great job on the pool. I’m already thinking of how to design mine. Good on you for showing us all how simple this could be!

@@dannyarcher hi Danny, I bought the paint from TA Paints they are in Wolverhampton 01902 428482 xx We haven’t gone down the fibreglass route now though, we’ve built it from artistes breeze blocks, rendering and then we’re applying the 2 part epoxy paint, once the render is bone dry. I’m pretty sure you can use chlorinated rubberised paint (available from TA Paints), talk to them and they’ll advice which is best 😊

Living in South Africa the currency is Rands. It cost me about R13000-00. This didn't include the pump which I already had. It did include the pipes and skimmer.

Question how many feet above ground is it ? Or did you fill it on the back ?thinking of doing this but mine would have to be 15 inches above ground, also what are the cables for?

  • @OneHeartMission

It is about 20 inches above ground. I worked through the space left by every second board and filled the back. You can see the spaces at about 1:03 on the video. The wires are for strength. All the best. I would love to see pics if you do it😊

How is the pool holding up? Do you have to winter it with snow/ice in your area?) Anything you would have done different? Was that fibreglass worth it or a liner ? Looks great! How is it holding up to chemicals, etc? Love the concept

Hi, it's still absolutely perfect. We had hectic flooding in April this year and it held up to that. Our winters are very mild so I don't do anything different. It is fiberglass with the blue pool coat over that. Pool coat is just like a blue resin. I can't think of anything that I'd do differently. I use one small balanced chlorine Floater a month. Thank you

  • @OneHeartMission

Hi Jamisha, the size of this pool is 3,6 meters in diameter. I used 22mm plywood. Quite easy to calculate the amount. 70 liters of resin. 60 square meters of chopped strand fiberglass (to allow for 2 layers) 10 liters of blue pool coat. If you go to a pool supplier shop, they should be able to tell you what you need too. www.compositesandgeneral.co.za/imsitemap.html This is the place that I used. On the back of all the boards, I used creosote covering painted on. Hope this helps
