Listen, don't blame yourself. Blame the advertising that says they can live in 0.5 gallons, don't need water changes, and don't need filters, heaters, etc. I made the same mistake when I first started keeping fish, at least you learned from your mistakes and that's a good thing!

i am really proud of myself, because i just got into fish keepers fandom, and haven't done any mistakes yet ( i hope i won't ). one weak ago i had no idea how to care about a betta, now i have a 9.2 gallon planted tank, with different natural decorations, and of course, wood, and it's on cycling period. it's with a heater, sponge filter, etc. ( i'm only 15 DAAMN ), can't wait to finally buy a new little friend, and i hope she'll be happy😩

@@starial wow, no offense but it seems that you're using your tank to fish for compliments rather than trying to complement your tank with a fish.

Betta's need lids though, they can jump out, mine got really excited during feeding and almost jumped out

They can only really jump like 2 inches at most, just keep the water line relatively low, and keep floating plants to reduce the risk.

My guys, Tom doesn't jump in feeding also tom is my betta. Well, tom doesn't have a lid and doesn't jump. I have other bettas named Timothy and Tucker (timothy is named after the spider in doors, tucker is named after tucker budzyn the dog) Meanwhile they dont jump, they have lids.

My boyfriend and I are moving to florida. We had to give up our 25 gallon fish tank and our two bonded red parrot cichlids and pleco we’ve had for years to our local fish keepers, who we know will take good care of them and sell them only to experienced keepers. Hurts my heart still, but it’s for our future and their future. Their little eyes looking at us they didn’t understand where they were going.
