That was a very "don't look to closely at this" ending 😂😂
I can feel the stress of working for John through the phone
Cool build. Please include more B-roll/a little more video of the completed projects going forward. I feel like you typically do but this one seemed really quick.
I'm sure many people have mentioned this, but, use the original Gorilla Glue in your kerfs because it expands as it dries and will fill all the voids and make it really strong. Super cool project by the way.
Love it! I worked for a special fabrication shop in Vegas for years, we would have done the whole thing with sheet metal, 22ga and 11 ga, then wrap it in Formica to get a wood look. I would have galvanized or chrome the sheet metal. With those shapes a metal finish would be really cool looking. You can also use a combination of metal and MDF for more depth. We used to stack MDF on our metal frames. It looks amazing and I understand why you got frustrated. I am impressed you made it through the build! Most shop guys I have worked with would have given up!

That's AWESOME! I'm going to save your suggestion.
Honestly, I'm not sure what Chris does (design and Ai wise) can be taught, but I would love to see a video or two with a focus on his thought process and how he comes up with designs based on your requests John.
I know this had to be wayyyy more frustrating than we even saw given the time of year and your personal life, but it was obvious to everyone that it was hard and you stuck with it to finish content for us. We appreciate that and we appreciate you and your team. It looks cool and can be modified later after you’ve looked at it for a bit. It’s a fantastic version 1.0! Now sit back and enjoy your accomplishments while you and your team take time to relax with family!
This is one of the coolest cabinets I have ever seen in my life. Absolute 11/10, love it!! Pity the final reveal wasn’t a full minute long 🙃 Cheers for sharing this one mate!

Because it wasn't good
You could have used bendi-ply instead of using all the kerf cuts and the laminate a veneer on top. Simplifies quite a bit. Columbia forest products is a great source for this kind of material
@ruben9912
4 ай бұрын
it sure is a lot more expensive than kerf cutting some mdf. veneered bendiply is for pieces that are fully in view, front and center. curved corners on a bar, stuff like that. using it for curves in cabinetry that you're going to cover up with a face frame is kind of a waste.

in Europe we have flexi plywood and flexi mdf without veneered definetly make this job much easier .@@ruben9912

It’s really not that expensive. A little less than your typical 23/32 ply. And it was painted. Put a piece of VT laminate on it and paint it. The time savings in the shop is well worth the money. I use the stuff quite regularly. Kerf cutting some like that needs to be reserved for solid wood.

@@keithpovec6462 well if time is all you have and money is tight or you just want to get some more budget tips into your prosumer level edutainment video.. it'll do
Congratulations on the baby girl! That's so exciting! As for this build, I know it was a huge pain but dang does it look beautiful! It turned out awesome. I admit I love the AI builds. And personally I liked the fish table build even if others didn't. I can't think of a project you've done that I haven't liked to be honest. You inspire me a ton.
I appreciate the honesty and frustration on this a lot. I'v felt that on a bunch of my projects. Always love the reveal of course, but appreciated seeing that even the pros don't know what they're doing all the time. And all the guys holding the cabinet up at the end until a genius finally decided a stool and some blocks of wood could do it too was priceless. Would have loved a bit more detail on the reveal as well!
Would love to see multi part series on stuff like this. Get more in depth and milk the content too. Gives you more time to spend on the project and actually show us that full process.
Congrats on having a third baby girl soon. Just became dad of the third girl last week and it's awesome!
I think it'd be cool to have AI design a desk. Congrats on the new addition!
Aww, congratulations on girl number three! I’m a third daughter and learnt all about woodworking & design from my dad. Love the final design!
Now I want to see a "parabolic TV console unit center" That would be super interesting.
I love it, I feel like you will have to build a funky looking conference table to have the team around. Adding led’s would be cool if they had that futuristic pulsing light effect
22:25 i like how john is wearing all black and the 2 others are wearing yellow hats, looks like gru and the minions
You guys did a good job staying motivated I know the drag on can get difficult. Awesome that you brought the vision to life that's what kept me engaged in the video. Keep up the good work and congratulations on your 3rd!
By cutting all of those little relief cuts you weakened the board to invite failure. The bondo was a brilliant idea, however there is a plywood that is only 3 layers thick and so bends easily in one direction, it's cally bendy ply or something but it is super flexible to make curves out of but is only 3/8ths or a little thinner, perhaps 11/32nds or something. So by using two layers you can glue them in a form, best to put a thin layer of cloth in between the two layers or fiberglass if you have it and it will be super strong after it dries. It's texture is finely cracked and will need filling and sanding like any cheap plywood. I love these designs, I noticed that it modeled the spaces after bone's hollow end growth. A clever design, thinking outside of the box. Good job.
I this i chewed all my finger nails off while watching this...cant even imagine what it must be for you legends to build this! One of the best, if not THE BEST media center/entertainment centers ive ever seen in a long, long time!! You guys are legends of design, fun and showing what is actually doable! Congratulations of the 3rd baby, best of wishes to the mom! :D
This was insane. Builds are getting tougher for sure! Well done.
I've really enjoyed watching your and your team progress over the years, there projects get more and more complex as time goes on.
Fill the kerfs with fiberglass resin mixed with chopped strand and cabosil. Mix enough cabosil till it’s like peanut butter. Use a spreader to push it in to the kerfs and smooth out the curve. Oh, make sure you add the mekp before the additives.
Kind of a lame reveal. You didn’t really give us a chance to see it up close, which is a shame because it looks pretty cool. Not sure if you’re just being dramatic when you act as if you didn’t like this project, but I much prefer watching these ideas come to life than the stupid copy cat TikTok ones or the pallet of returned tools. You and the team have amazing creative abilities and craftsmanship, show us more of that.

Kinda expected some camera panning and angles, not a single frame. Guess the editor needs coffee fully in his blood too. Cool build anyway. I would never attempt that.

@@adamnickel I don’t like leaving negative comments either, but I felt like for all the work that went into this, and for the sheer frustration evident, that even if they didn’t like it, that they could’ve given us a little more time to admire it. And I think that’s what we’re saying here. I get the feeling that it was wayyyy more work and effort than expected and the team wasn’t proud of the final result so it didn’t get its time to shine in the reveal. Or the time crunch was just too much. It happens. I think we’re all still grateful for the effort and content though. …and I hope after some time to relax and just stare at it a bit they’ll find a way to improve it so that it makes them happy and Then we get a nice reveal!

Hey I’m always encouraged by John and his team, and we didn’t say anything he would disagree with. I know life is tough and we need all the positivity we can get, but a bit of complaining is what pushes people to do their best work. This was a great build, we just missed having the bow on top.
That was an insane build. You should have AI design a crib now for the new baby.

let's get this to the top
13:57 I felt that in my soul
The fact that things break just from dropping it on the floor, it is probably a good thing it fell bc how was it going to hold up when put to use?
CONGRATULATIONS on girl #3!!!
For the face frames you should look at the Lamello Zeta P2. With their clamX connectors. That would let you put the face frame on the cabinets after install
That bottom cabinet, alone, would make a nice repeatable piece.
Congrats john! I might try to build that bottom cabinet. I learn alot building modern furniture trying new techniques and wacky shapes. Nice vid!
Congratulations for the new addition to your family! What a blessing🫶
This is awesome. It's awesome that you and your team are willing to be uncomfortable in order to creative with the build you do. I haven't seen this much agony and frustration since your kitchen remodel
Congratulations on the baby . The entertainment center is awesome, keep up the great work and God Bless you guys and your families. ✌️ 😊👍🙏🏼
Congratulation on the baby! I imagine you guys spend a lot of time in there so making it nice is definitely worth it in the end!
Congrats on a baby girl! Love this build. Wish I could’ve seen more of the final results in better details though. Thanks for all the great content in 2023 and looking forward to seeing what you got in 2024! Merry Christmas and happy new year John and crew. Cheers!
Holy crap. John I've watched your channel for years. This may be the most complicated build yet. You are a wood God.
I would suggest using Wood Polymer Composite(WPC) boards to get dynamic curves for the shelves without kerfing. Kerfing reduces the material integrity and makes the bend fragile. WPC boards, Once heated to around 110 C, can be bent to confirm to flowing shapes and does not spring back. You can use a heat gun with foaming templates to do so. You can achieve flowing shapes too.
This is very Art Nouveau looking. As a mixed media artist, I would have just used chicken wire and plaster to create the face frame. Beautiful piece!
I’ve designed some pretty intense curved furniture that was made of multiple layers of bendy (pre curf cut) mdf laminated up- they hold a curve nicely and are a bunch more forgiving than the approach you were taking. I was the designer, not the builder though, so the woodworkers might have hated me!
This turned out so cool! Congratulations to you and your wife ❤ hope you, your beautiful family, and everybody have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
Just ordered a pair of shop shades. Currentley building up my own furniture shop in the Netherlands , specialized in midieval styles and techniques
I realy love it! It is so original. Never seen anything similar. I was trying to find inspiration for my own tv stand and this hits perfect. Thanks for it.
can your shop shades be turned into perscription glasses? next A.I. project should be one of those ultimate all in one work benches with all the tools built into it.
Have you ever tryed kervbending in two layers? one the kervs outside one inside! thin layer bend easy and inside is ready to roll
Congratulations to your growing family! And very interesting idea/project/execution - enjoyed it!
This is so cool, not only from a content standpoint. This is really a testament to your ablities as a craftsman. I can see a clients tapping into these skills to make something amazing for years to come
Looks sick! Great execution
should be a sewing station as it looks pretty much like a sewing machine. Congrats on the baby girl!!!
IT looks badass!! Great jobs guys!! And Congratulations to you John and to your wife!
Absolutely awesome, Congratulations on number 3
For the curve pieces, you could have soaked in water and steamed them in a curve jig (what they do in wooden aircraft aerofoils and complex shapes )
now that's a good use for AI. The thought process to crate it in physical is another entirely different thing. Looks awesome!
Congratulations for the baby girl!
John, congrats on the baby girl. That’s awesome news. Hands are gonna be full. As for this build. Can we get a little reveal in the next video. Would love to see a little more of the finished product.
This is the perfect example of artists embracing AI in design. I love it.
Wonderful result thank you
I think this is a fun theme. You're not just rewriting something AI made, you are creating a physical object which takes time and skill.
Absolutely Insane!
Looks amazing great job. Congratulations to you and your wife on the new baby 🎊🍾🎉
If you have to do them cut curves again you should try polyurethane glue holds like crazy and expands and fills all the cuts
Congrats John!!!
try bendply next time, they use that stuff in plane and ship builds. super bendy, way easier than kerf bending
Phenomenal Project!!
I am curious why you use the cuts to bend the wood vs using a steam box? Is there one method that is stronger than the other?
Top quality content yet again.... Love it
Wow that was a ton of work. Looks great. Question - why didn't you have your CNC do the carving? Maybe the midjourney picture wasn't detailed enough to model the depth?
Yes, finally. A new episode and I liked the fish table too, would like to see other designs if possible
Could have cut about 16 copies of the face frame on the CNC and glued them all together for the full depth of the curvy glory. Lots of MDF, but far less work, frustration, and time (or so I think it would be less). That off course would have made it even heavier though and less content I suppose. I appreciate the silliness.
dang it's rare to find an awesome KZread like this one
With the curved ends could you have veneered the Inside with contact adhesive? Would that have worked to hold them together?
Looking good!
Gotta make that tired old kitchen match guys ! Product ended up looking kinda cool.
looks awesome, hoping to get into making some futuristic pieces myself
I really liked this video. Now you have the finished design/build could you use the finished product as a mould? Their is actually very limited options for new out of the box designs on the market.
Nice work! What sprayer did you use to paint the office ceiling? didn't see that you covered the floor or the walls when spraying the ceiling. Is it because that gun does not have a large overspray?
Congrats John!
big bandsaw box pretty cool
Love the project. For your Shop Shades, think about adding some for those us us that need bifocals as we age. Love the look of the but need a 2.5 magnification pair. Just a thought. Thanks
Dude, congrats on the baby!!!
For the next build a kinetic sand art table would be cool!
That thing is BAD ASS!!!! And congrats
you could have done the curves on the cnc on the last piece- 3d modeling it. easy!
This is absolutely wild and came out beautiful! Love your content. I thought this would be a cool project to do until I realized I should probably also have that $1000 3M respirator for the mdf shaping.
Great build! Next time you use bondo for a kerf cut try using kitty hair body filler the fiberglass in it should provide a lot of strength.
Congratulations to you & Sarah. 3 beautiful baby girls.
Love it smooth plug
this is more inspirational then your carved oak doors, pretty close to my favorite piece you have made, great job john
Good job and congratulations on the baby girl!
You can use PL or epoxy paste to fill those kerfs
Man that turned out awesome can't wait to see what you guys build next
It would be cool if y'all tried to build one of those wonky whimsical dressers with slanty drawers that almost look like they're alive like something out of Beauty & The Beast.
Awesome! That Ai design is insane! And congrats on the baby girl!
You can use a steamer to soften mdf or osb to bend it
Looks nice. Definitely not like out of the box. Congratulations on the baby 🎉
Congratulations on your next little baby girl arriving in 2024. Unit turned out as all your furniture does, brilliantly. My only thing is that with the white finish, you can't make out all your hard work carving out the front. Merry Christmas John to you, your staff but most importantly, your beautiful family 🎄🎅
This thing is magnificent! I want that so bad…! You outdid yourself with this piece again!
This was a great video. It looks like your AI was into Art Nouveau! Very similar, with its organic flowing lines. But not easy to build--lots of bending and carving to get the look.
Sick design. Congrats on the baby girl!
