cheeto4493 I had a 92 Saturn SC. it was burning oil like mad at 50k miles. Saturn did a full rebuild out of warranty and only charged me $300. I have the 2.2L ecotec in my Pontiac g5 and I’ve so far replaced the valve cover gasket at 198k and just done the exhaust VVT at 209k miles. I’m surprised at the performance I’ve gotten out of it to be honest. Good video brother. Always enjoy watching your vids and wrenchin’ around. 👍🏻
Interesting video mate. Enjoy watching these rebuild types... Became known in Australia as the Craptiva, the version you have is the Opel Antara version. Australia received both, the Opel and the Daewoo one. As the Daewoo one was larger and being 7 seater it sold better, but sadly the Opel version was much better built..
I like the ecotec motor I run one in my buggie 4-5000 rpm hour after hour in the desert and it is bullet proof, never have added a drop of oil. This one is the 2.2L and I have a back up motor I paid $500 for. Like it so much got my wife a 2.4L Chevy HHR just changed the oil after 10,000 miles never used a drop of oil. I did have a bad tensioner for the timing belt on my buggie when I got it. and put in the upgraded one and never a problem again. just my experience. So. California no rust ever. no rain (not much anyways) either.
Ah the old Chevy 'Equal-knocks'. We had a lot of laughs with these during my days at the dealership.

GM has a *unique* approach to automotive engineering, and it hasn't gotten all that much better in the last 40 years... It's worst on their low end cars... I'm an engineer - not automotive! - and every time I get suckered into going under the hood of a GM car I wonder at their concept of cost engineering... I don't care how pretty a lady owner is - I'm not doing any serious wrenching on a GM car...
hope you and your family are all good and fine keep the vids running thanks john

I loved it "what a bunch of dicks" and its so true. It seems like almost everything is made disposable. No pride in build quality or making things easily repairable for the repair person. Everything last just a little past warranty so they can keep a revolving door on purchasing more disposable crap, So I am curious, is part of being a good mechanic mean NOT swearing at what you fixing? Maybe that's why I suck so bad at being a really good mechanic.
