A reading electronically gives you a very important benefit - you can evaluate a book without wasting paper. If I like a book, then I buy a paper version to my physical library, otherwise just preserve it on some hard drive.

The kindle ereader does not come in color. If you want color you can get the kindle fire tablet. The ereader is supposed to help with your eyes so no color. You can get the ads removed for free by talking to customer service but they usually says it's 20 dollars to remover them. If you talk to the right person they'll do it for free.

Ah okay. I can live without the color. It was just jarring having to get used to it, but it’s fine. The ads don’t really bother me either

I would recommend getting an iPad mini 6 to do what you want or need to do with it. It’s pricey and if it’s not in your budget try getting a refurbished iPad mini 5.

The black screen can be adjusted, go into settings and tweak the page refresh either on or off, play with that setting

I had the original Kindle Fire, which is basically an e-reader with tablet functions, including the color screen. Loved it. The newer Fires (of which I have a Gen 7 7") are tablets with the Kindle app. It takes minutes on mine to get reading, because I have to boot up every time; it burns power even when "asleep." Don't like it very much. I plan on getting a basic Kindle for myself for Xmas, hoping to return to my old e-reading experience. I wouldn't worry about the color.

I know I wish the covers were colored. I have the Pearl pink book and I think I want a kindle too. I do read on my kindle fire tablet and I love the colored book covers

For you to have a colour Kindle, you would have to wait till the technology gets to a point that Amazon are happy with for their readers. There are e-readers that do have colour and from what I’ve seen they’re neither bad nor great, yet. Like people have mentioned, the Kindle Fire being a ‘tablet’ and not using e-ink is in full colour but the trade off is that it is not just a dedicated reading device and is more like a large smart phone without the phone capability.

What is the pop socket like thing called as ? I couldn't find a similar one. Is there an amazon link?

I'm waiting for Black Friday so that I can get me one.

If you look in your settings, you should be able to have the cover of the current book you are reading as the Lock Screen.

You can turn off the page refresh after every page turn. This does raise the battery life, but you may experience more ghosting (some of the e-ink can still, very faintly be seen, until the Kindle refreshes)

There’s no way to change it to color. It threw me off guard too. But you get used to it.
