This Mercedes looked beautiful after the work you had done to it Matt. It really didn’t look 14 years old, it would grace anyone’s driveway, and still have prowess on the road. As always, great video, I really admire the lengths you go to, in order to make a car the best it can possibly be😊.

Thanks! I thought it was worthy of saving
the more i watch your videos the more i feel like there is no way other used car seller would do a proper inspection and maintenance given how much it reduces the profit in the end

If you look at AutoTrader, you can see that there are dealers that appear conscientious, and have good reviews, and at the other end of the scale there are dealers that clearly do no prep at all. There are also dealers across the midde ground. I have also read adverts by private sellers who bought their cars from dealers with great reputations, but have nonetheless had to spend large amounts to get the cars right. Most of the time Matt seems to go the extra mile, but there have also been times when he hasn't done jobs that I think should have been done and also the odd occasion when he's said he was going to do something that he didn't do. Of course, at the end of the day he's in businesss to make money. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Matt. It's pretty clear that he tries to do everything he can to make sure there will be no issues for his customers, but if anything major goes wrong in the first three months he bites the bullet and authorizes the repair or buys the car back, and that's reassuring. There's also another way to look at Matt's approach. Time is money and reputation is very important. It eats into profit to have to deal with faults after the cars have left the yard. There are also plenty of people who make a big deal over the smallest things, and also change their minds and look for any reason to get their money back. And these are also the people most eager to leave bad reviews. If you're a decent person like Matt, it's cheaper in the long run to do everything one can to prevent issues, and to have high levels of customer satisfaction. It also means that he can confidently ask higher prices. Overall, I'm sure he is actually making higher profits and building an ever stronger business.
A cheap luxury car doesn’t mean cheap running costs, the costs remain the same when they were new. I prefer the 7 series over these but can appreciate an S class. Great video.

Whenever I see the video by High Peak Autos, I'm happy. This is the best content in the world. I need a little bit of TLC.
I had one of these as a hire car after a non-fault accident when they were new and it was brilliant. At £6995, it’s an absolute bargain!

I've always thought this, but now it has to be said...I would feel very secure buying a used car from you. You do your due diligence and really care about the state of the cars you sell on. As always, great video for a fine automobile. The next owner will be lucky to have gone to High Peak Autos.

Love these car transformation videos 👌 good job as always and no cutting corners 🫡
Came across your videos by accident when looking at reviews for a car I was thinking of buying. Now I'm hooked. I can't believe the lengths you go to to make sure the buyer gets a great deal and car. You go above and beyond. If I lived up around the Stockport area I definitely buy all my cars from you. Your a decent and trustworthy guy. Great videos mate.
Another quality video, always find these really refreshing to watch. Lovely car too. Keep doing what you're doing mate, we love it.
Hello Matt, that is a really nice looking car after you have done all the work. I hope you sell it quickly. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Great video Matt,as always. We have had a number of Mercedes with this engine, and they are superb. I hope that you get your asking price for this lovely car. Whoever buys it is getting tremendous value for money, in my honest opinion. Kindest regards and best wishes.
I love it when you get sucked in by an S Class! Great video! I really enjoyed this. What a fabulous cruiser someone will purchase. Thanks for making this video.
Brilliant video once again Matt😊 also it’s great to see you came to Malton to the Bangers & Cash event. I live in the village Thornton-le-Dale where the Mathewsons garage is - Its fantastic to see how many people the programme brings here, plus it’s a lovely area to visit anyway😊 keep up the great work👍🏼
What a gorgeous car. Perfect spec, in my book. I'd be tickled to have one. Unfortunately we only ever got the W221 in the long-wheelbase form here in the states, which I think is far too stretched. I much prefer the aesthetics of the shorter S classes, same goes for the A8s and the 7-series' of the world.
I drove a W221 300D LWB for 13 years from new and it was a wonderful cruising machine, bringing the kids to school and me onto work every day. 100km / 60mile round trip. Totally reliable, as I serviced it according to the schedule. Honestly only sold it as annual road tax in this parish exceeded £1250 per year. Got near nothing for it because of annual tax. Lacked Bluetooth music, the Bluetooth phone function took for ever to synchronise contacts and after 13 years it was time for a change. First world problem.

Quite a storied car there mate, W221 still looks really good years later. Anyway, i think if you guys there in UK/Ireland had an old car to sold, you can import those cars here to Indonesia, here it’s rhd just like you guys & also people right here had quite a big appetite for used european cars as used car tax here is going down as the car gets older.
Quality video as always Matt! Almost get wiped out by the horse box 😂 I like the way you describe the car as nice and clean and honest. Could use that as your own tag line 😂 "just like the cars I sell, I'm nice and clean and honest" I think that beige leather interior could also be called prosthetic limb beige.. £6995 for that car is a bargain!
always watch your videos, its great to see honest reviews .... just brought a toyota Urban cruiser 2010 1,33vvt ( for my partner) and noticed you never done a video on one of these ... its certainly surprised me how good it is. car vertical was a god send when looking for cars certainly took advantage of your 10% code
Keep up the hard work, Matt! Really enjoy your video's. Cheers from Amsterdam!
I like how you finish with ‘you live and learn’ but you never learn 😂😂 keep it up love this style content
These cars always remind me of a south african boss i had years ago.he reeked of cigars, negativity & aramis & his (then new) s class rocking up was always the death knell for his staffs productivity.i cant help but shudder even now when i see one.that guy was a prize helmet.
Nice one Matt - nice colour combo interior with exterior, agree with the slight 'Maybach' similarities. I'd be very tempted - lot of car right there.
Stunning car for £6995. No privacy glass, no black wheels, no black interior and it's not an SUV. If it didn't have a tractor engine, I'd have been knocking at your showroom door. Great video, Matt - I hope the youtube content boosts your £967 (less stuff).
I love your instant tread depth estimator SUPERPOWER! 🙂
You've done a lovely job on it Matt. It would make a great replacement for Bentley I sold recently.
Fantastic cars. As much as I love them, I can't help but hear the voice of a mechanic saying, "this is gonna cost ya". Good review BTW👍💯.
A beautiful, used example of Merc S Class. Looks much newer than 2009. Slap on a private plate it could look more like a 2014 car. Hope new owners enjoy this black beauty. Well done Matt
Great detail of the Mercedes with costs and information about what you have done..I am on the lookout for the exact model in your video 🤔🤔👍
That’s a lovely car. I’ve got an E320 sport diesel of the same age (but 164k on the clock!); well specced and panoramic roof. One think I like about it is that you can fold down the rear seats (either one seat or two or all 3) - great if you’re carrying a lot of stuff, which I do sometimes. Been very reliable and I’ve not had any big bills. Regular servicing helps, I think.
Hi Matt, these are the kind of car's I like you buying and bringing them back.
“You live and learn” 😂 You never learn! 😂 Love it though, watch almost every video, cheers Matt!
Great video & a genuine assessment as usual 👍🏼
Another absorbing video, Matt. Just wondering why you don't check the air con pressure before re-gassing it? You can buy a reusable trigger and gauge kit for about £20, which connects to the low pressure service port under the bonnet.
What a clean classy spec and the gorgeous ivory interior is immaculate 🔥
Hi Mat Great video as usual, that British autumn look fabulous. A/C would be wonderful in the not too distant future.
Great video again - very informative
Hi Matt, i had to laugh as soon as you uttered those words " disconcertingly vague ", classic partridge!! Glad to hear ur obviously a fan! Maybe you should try and drop one of his phrases into each video and see how many people p8ck them up! Ps cracking s class; lovely stuff !! Keep up the good work !
Great to see a mention to SPR Autos in Stockport...possibly one of the best Mercedes Indy Specialist Garages around.... 👏👏👌👌
Such a smart looking car and now thanks to you back to its original showroom finish that will not hang around long hope you are well mat best wishes ian
I bought myself one of these when I got my first good job. I was 22 at the time! I felt like an absolute success driving it. Cost me a fortune in running costs, my Aircon didn't work either. Few issues with air suspension and a mysterious smelly exhaust smoking issue on idle. It averaged 27mpg for me, which I think was related to the exhaust smoking. However, none of this mattered, because I was 22, with the current shape Mercedes flagship!
great vid should have bought that for my next taxi thanks again for all the effort
Lovely looking barge for the dosh. Wot a motor. Not on your website, so sold already I guess. Love you videos, keep up the good work. 🙂
Wait till you replace all the air struts and and the crank shift. Love it
Looks like a bargain, the shape aged really well, who wouldn't enjoy driving something like that for that kind of money (even with maintenance factored in)! Have you had this long, I swear I've seen it in other videos? Maybe I'm imagining it...
I love them especially the Facelift W221s. Great example and buy as always Matt!
‘08 221 S450 V8 owner here. Cracking car, and ahead of its time with night vision, distronic plus and heated/ventilated seats. Give it the love that an S needs and it will run forever👌🏻
"You live and learn"..... I'm rather glad these videos suggest otherwise and I'm happy to watch you prove it again and again. ❤
Great video as always!
5:23 made me smile because I always make automotively nerdy observations and it makes my family roll their eyes
Lovely car - bound to be expensive to service and maintain, but clearly previous owner had taken care of the car. You didn't have the usual complaint of interior cleanliness and care. I know a small profit but a superb car, good material for the channel and that must be worth something ? Keep at it saving these really great cars.
A beautiful classic refined tourer for the true Benz enthusiast, great review thanks Matt.
Great buy with plenty of wiggle room to sort out. Buying a old flagship Merc can usually cost more to get sorted but this was great begin with.
Surprised the air con was not checked for leaks prior to re gassing. Great video as always.

Hey mat, it would be very interesting to show the process of fixing the car, shopping for the parts, and taking it to the mechanics, is that something you'd be willing to do?
Lovely looking car Matt keep the videos coming 👍
I love it when Matt says " live and learn" . Which he does say often, because he never does. Lol. I do agree with him, that the w221 is a good variant of the S class though.
What’s your advice to us always? “Never buy a car like this and expect it to be cheap to maintain“! That said it did look amazing when it was finished, the interior looked mint. Great vid as always 👍🏻
A car like that doesn't look right without privacy glass.
Wow that is a lot of car for only £6995. Champagne car for lemonade money, I would have thought it was worth a grand more than that given the history, mileage and work you have completed on it. A terrific buy for someone👍
W221 are so beautiful

Hi Matt. Love your work 👍
I can’t believe you got all that car for that money Matt, what a lovely thing. I realise they can go wrong like any car, but as you say if you keep some money aside it’s not such a big hit in the wallet. Also i hope when we come to upgrade our family car I can come to you, you are so meticulous changing the wheel nuts, it just shows what you’re like as a person and a car dealer.
Wow a great find, rare to find a diesel this age with such low mileage and the 320 was a very reliable Mercedes’ diesel. I love the black exterior and light interior. Great cruiser
Love how you say "You live n learn" but then go out and buy another old luxury car sight unseen.....keep up the good work
As always great video, I wished I could have bought it - I was round the corner from your garage and popped round but you were shut (must have just missed it)
Well done Matt!! You do get your hands on some nice examples!! Always a pleasure to watch your videos Cheers!!
Love these vlogs 👍
Another beauty turned around 👏🏻👍🏻 immaculate looking car 😍 did you find out where the chrome strip belonged?
Great vids Matt,,,,💯 Nice car too
This gen E500/S500/CLS500/CL500 are such tanks. Vault like feeling when driving, comfy, just great
Lovely car, great condition, shame about the issues. I'm sure and hopeful it will all turn out fine :)
Great job on the Merc!
Great car Matt, and that interior...i would love to use that as a daily
Fancy!! That diesel sounds good! Waiting for that £100 purchase!
That last bit with the costs breakdown, was rather interesting 🤣 cheers matt
I'm sure I'm not the only one who skips the middle of the videos 😮 Usually, it's easy fast forward to I see a shirt colour change then sit back and enjoy listening to what the mechanic and detailers did. This time 🤔 same colour. Still a great video.
love the car and all yours videos😍😍😍
Always great content, Matt. Really enjoy your honest opinions on cars. Question though, how do you keep buying doozies when you use Car Vertical? 🤣Yeah, it's a cheeky question!!
Matt you live and learn a lot. That's the risk of buying older cars.
That car is a beauty. Right engine, right colour and right interior . Original owner from London. Doesn't look as if its had a hard life.
Nice one Matt!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's a lovely old thing to waft around in! While you were burning up the Pounds, I think I would have ordered a custom shaped rear registration plate to fill the panel!
Absolutely those W221's have certainly aged very gracefully, a mate of mine out in Bulgaria owns the 550 V8 it's an absolute beast.
Beautiful "renewed" old barge. Cheers, Matt.
I bloody love this guy
Great effort again Matt. I may oneday buy a car off you to export Downunder 😊
Hi Matt, Really enjoy your videos and this is no exception. A common thread I find in your cars is that the aircon isn't working. You always seem to suggest that a re-gas will sort it. I'm interested as to how many times this rectifies the issue? Why do people not have their cars regassed, it's comparatively inexpensive but I feel that more often than not, it's something more 'vital' like a condenser and/or compressor. I've never been that lucky when I have bought 'older' cars! Keep up the good work!

I'm half tempted to buy it from you, what a stunning example. I have a weird car that nobody would buy, if I could sell it I'd have it.

Love thst s class matt looks beautiful and worth every penny of the asking price interior looks beautiful a great car for someone id love it well done matt 👍
Great video HPA, nice car, still a decent profit, were you not happy with the steering, you said it was vague?😀👌👍
Diesel fuel over here on our side of the pond is more expensive than petrol, but with that kind of mileage, it would be worth it. My last car, a 2001 e320 gas engine, only got 16 mpg. 😮 No used car dealer over here does what you do, Matt. You're lucky the wheels don't fall off the minute you take possession of a used car. 😂😅😂😅
@Afraz_9n3

Diesel here is also more expensive than petrol cheapest diesel in my area atm is £1.52 a litre while petrol is £1.45 a litre. Roughly converts to about $8 per gallon for petrol and $10 per gallon for diesel.
I have an E320 Avantgarde. Straight 6 diesel. Had it 5 years, it’s fantastic. Dreading the day it passes.
I seem to have binged you all day . Including the property stuff. HELP. lol
Nice one Matt. Instead of buying a crappy electric car, you've gone and saved another classic! Always loved this era of Mercedes, so whoever buys this is gonna have a hell of a lot of car!
I think this is a great car. The journey continues!
This has one of the best interior color palettes I've seen on a W221. It's a shame Mercedes can't make a comfortable seat otherwise I'd have a 550.
