The rusting subframe issue seems to have faded away - Is anyone going to drop 3 large on a car with 5 months ticket and rust on the previous advisories????

Very good video mate. very informative. I have just bought a used same CRV as well. Great cars they are. my second one. You mentioned something regarding when the power-steering pump is beginning to go. please explain, cos the one i have just bought has a funny feeling to it when I am driving fast on the motoway. it has a jumpy bumpy feel to the steering.

Not a bad car, Hondas seem to have very soft paint but can polish up well. Strange damage on the door card. Possibly someone had a problem with someone’s driving

Had a CRV and hated it due to crashy, horrible ride and cheap interior plastics... Mine certainly wasn't smooth, but the suspension always passed MOT with only a drop link needing done

@2:11 It doesn't look that old. Is that really a typical problem for that gen CRV? @5:31 Not the French treatment. That is for sure. 😉 @26:09 It is good value, considering its average condition.

I was washing my Japanese made 2005 Accord today and found little in the way of rust. A west country car exposed to less winter salt. In the wheel arches and sills there was some peeling stone chip mastic revealing galvanized steel. Better in fact than my old BMW E39 Touring. Certainly more than UK made Honda Jazz, Civic and CRVs models. I think they are electro-galvanized which is a better method than cold galvanized used on rust buckets like Mazda 3 up to 2011. The gold standard is whole body hot-dipped galvanized used on Audi, Porsche and exotics.

I thibk you could make good money by buying fairly right CRVs, or a number of thr older suvs, that could do with new tyres and then sell it on that basis ie let them specify the tyres. So many shit tyres on very capable.suvs. These old suvs are transformed with the right tyres and also those who buy them are often quite paeticular about the tyres they want. eg I reaearched all of the suvs when I evéntually settled on a CRV over a RAV or freelander. Certainly over a Disco. For everyday use, snow and flood driving, hauling stuff, towing etc. Its does enough of everything right and is utterly unkillable ánd reliable. Transformed in my case by currently, BFG Urban Terrains €700 for a set, and previously by Firestone Destination HP in summer and Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6 (offroad snow) in heavy winter conditions. Utterly transforms a humble V into a little monster 😂. I should know as I worked with the military and outmanoevred army Nissan Patrols on road rubber despite all of their 4wd prowess. Winter tyres beat just 4wd, especially in stopping 😂

What's minimum need to spend on an SUV to have a good chance of it not needing double the cost to be good ?

2k (euros or pounds) will always get a decent CRV, RAv and maybe even an X trail. Or a Vitara. Thats if you want an old school suv that can actually work well off road. The newer bunch are all softroaders and purely road oriented. I have a 2006 CRV(diesel) since late 2017 (€1700) and it has been through continuous 12-15" floods (suffered with rust after), Beast from the East 12" snows, tows above its 1500kg limit with no issues, will do far more offroad than most have balls for. Mines on 240k miles. Welded the dmf but apart from that, and battery /earthing íssues that dodgy mechanic thought was ECU...), its unkillable. The model in question is very capable offroad, if you're sufficiently skilled. Google CRV Carton Estate Ireland. Might come up on YT.

Have you signed up for the "High Peak " on-line car-dealers course ? You seem to have taken on 100% Matt's " new number-plates would brighten it up " comment and, of course " there's a bit of a lip on the discs " ( Top Tip: on 99% of all cars there will be some kind of lip. Needs to be 2+ mm or so when discs are likely knackered. ) Commenting on the tyres is sensible given their cost and visibility to most potential purchasers ( so you get a pass on that 😅)

So that’s on trade terms plus you’re a discerning specialist trader who probably wouldn’t stock this anyway. I sold my 2007 diesel crv with 72k miles and 12 months mot, fsh, two keys etc for £4500 a few months ago. Traders and car buying sites all offered around £2k if that 😂
