I worked for an auto auction in 2005 and drove this same car through the block, it sold for $72,000 and on the back road leading to the parking lot I floored it at 5 MPH I was instantly thrown back in the seat, my head hit the headrest my heart was pounding then I ran out of road as the first gear limiter kicked in around 60 MPH... It was the most thrilling few seconds I've had in a car to this day....awesome car!

I used to have an obsession with Porsche when I was a kid. To the point where for my birthday my dad took me to the local Porsche store. This was around 2004 - 2006. But ever since they changed the front lights design I no longer like the car that much. The lights you have on this design are the old ones that I loved but at some point they changed the lights back to a more circular design.

I have a 2002 996 and love it!!!! I have the 19” turbo rims with 12mm spacers. Makes the car look amazing. I like the rims on your turbo they make the car look more up to date.

@@ianzhu5606 on pump gas I would get 27-28 mpg cruising on the highway. On E85 I would get like 8 mpg when I was driving fast. All depends. But I definitely didn't build it with gas mileage in mind haha.

Great purchase! These things are probably the most reliable of the 996. And they can be made into mad turbo monsters. Gemballa kit takes it up to 650 hp. Good luck and have fun :)

@@danger450 996's are the best value in used sports cars at the moment. Very underrated and amazing to drive. The 996 Turbo got the Mezger engine, meaning it wasn't susceptible to IMS failure. It's also nudging R8 V10 performance with a far lower price tag. To call the 996 anything other than a success is delusional.

Just got mine a week ago and I love it!

Who doesn’t like a 911? Iconic and timeless, what more could you ask for? Simply amazing

This is an awesome buy! These turbos in this condition usually go for $45k-50k so you did good my friend! I wouldn't hesitate to bring this car to the track as it has a dry sump but please find a magician to remove your curse first.

I’ve had 2, a 2002 standard black car then a 2005 Turbo S with every option including the aero kit 👌🏼 marvellous things, tracked the life out of mine and they never missed a beat! (Owned them for 9 years combined)

That rattle is one of your chain tensioners. Ask me how I know.

I haven't been tainted with Porsche fandom, so to me the front end actually looks very good.

Never knew the turbo 996s we're free of the IMS bearing issues. I just looked it up, & damn! That's awesome! I had just assumed that's why your last car bit the dust. The car is gorgeous btw!!!

I have the same model and take it to the track all the time...then put it back in my garage and off to the grocery store the next day. No drama, no issues.The turbo 996 engines are pretty bullet-proof (watch me jinx it now). Go to the track!

My dad had one of these while I was growing up. I miss driving that thing. Man oh man, what a car.

One of my very good friends is the Master Tech at a Porsche dealership prior and now works for the Porsche Museum out of Stuttgart doing mechanical restoration. He swears up and down that the 996 turbo is very sound and solid mechanically overall. Does avoid some of the issues of the standard Carrera. And, obviously, the performance is pretty insane considering what you pay for one of these days. These will be going for a lot more 10 or 15 years from now. Get it while you can guys.

That car is awesome tbh. I love the look, the wheels, the interior, everything. Even those headlights. They're just not that bad.

I always liked Porsches but this one is what made me love them

Excellent opportunity to show how some basic modifications can take an older Porsche up to the performance level of a new one for a fraction of the price.

Truth be told, I love the pointy headlights of this gen of 911. There I said it.

Congratulations, Tyler! Love the wheels and stance...and I , for one, do NOT hate 996s lol

Three reasons why Porschephiles hated the 996's: 1. The headlights were a bit odd shaped. I personally thought they were OK, but the later 997 was better. 2. The interior, specifically the dashboard, looked like it came out of a Hyundai. Boring. 3. These are Porschephiles, and they simply like arguing about things~!!!

Porschephiles are a bunch of retards! They complain about the 996 interior when their beloved aircooled 911 interior looks like it was made when dinosaurs were around.

$36k is crazy good money for a clean 996 Turbo. Well bought!

Honestly from a person who is seeing this for the first time it looks like an awesome car ...also the front looks sexy I would buy one if I had more money lol

I had one of these 10 yrs ago for about 6 months. Engine was strong, especially when chipped to 500 HP. But no personality - big initial push but then totally linear (boring) power delivery, unlike a V8 that pulls harder as the revs climbed. Also horrible as a daily driver. Looked amazing though! Replaced with an FD RX7 which was much more of a rush to drive!

Blow it up at the track.

I never had a problem with the looks of this car. It looks good to me, especially with a nice pair of rims like yours has. Never understood why the extra little part of the headlights turned so many people away. Pretty nit picky if you ask me, if you buy it new I get it, but when it's used and is like half the price of an 06, that's ridiculous to me

Exactly. So much concern over a part of the car your rarely even notice, especially when driving. Amazing cars. I love mine... makes right over 700 whp and is an absolute blast to drive!

Hoovie normal guys can't spend $75K on an old Rolls and a Ferrari and still own 20 other cars or have parents that own a home that looks like it would fit right in in Beverly Hills...Just saying

This purchase for just a weekend sports car is relatively attainable for average dudes. I don't think he said his whole garage is attainable. If I was a Porsche fan, I'd give a 996 serious consideration.

😒👍 good purchase kid, just baby it and nvr take it to a track. For the plebs out there I recommend u look at '944 86 and up with the updated dash' & '928 with a chevy ford engine', those shud keep u out of too much trouble with money pit maintenance costs, of course stay on top of all the regular stuff

One of the best looking cars ever made imo.The exterior still looks fresh to me but I'm not into the older interior in these.The newer 911 turbo interior is great though.

Bought mine in 2014, sold it 2 years later. Brilliant fun.
