I must be a glutton for punishment but I just love BMW E36s and especially the 328i manual with the M52 powerplant. I already have a 1996 Coupe with that same combination and so when I saw this 1998 3 series Touring come up on Ebay I had to get it as I have wanted one for years.
My heart was pounding and I only went and won the auction! This is where the #adventcha begins, as I inspect the car and pick it up in London from the seller. The only problem is, it has a number of issues...will it even get home?
Me and my mate have threatened to do up a car and start a You Tube channel for some time. This car, effectively car zero #00, has kicked things off for us. If you look at the plate, it has got to be christened "Hero"...
So three questions:
1) Have I made a terrible mistake? (Probably - it's a 25-year old E36)
2) Why is it making strange noises?
3) Is there any hope to transform this car from "Zero" to a proper "Hero", worthy of the name...
