A 4GB 750ti as well, so even longer lived than the typical 2GB version. Cyberpunk used well over 3GB. The i7 3770S would be a noticeable upgrade over the 2600. Problem is however the lack of instructions that pre Haswell i7 have.

That actually seems like a good deal. The Cyberpunk performance squeezing reminds me of when I built my first rig, thought it was great then fired up Crysis for the first time (back in 2007-2008ish) and had to use custom very low settings getting 20-30fps in multiplayer- it's weird to think that now 60fps is just 'okay'.

13:14 the cpu utilization is 100% at the cores that the game can utilize. the rest of the cores are at idle, hence the overall utilization is about 60ish percent.

I wonder whether BOM just means Bill Of Materials which in the inventory/manufacturing world is a kit list of parts to make a complex item or system. So it is just a BOM code. You don’t normally see it presented that way but that would be my guess.

I also spent $300 on Amazon and eBay to build a system for one of my kids. Started with an i5-6500 Dell refurb system with 16GB DDR3L memory and a 128GB m.2 SATA SSD ($110). Added a 480GB SATA SSD ($25), low profile GT1030 2GB (DDR5 of course) video card ($45), cheap keyboard and mouse and headset ($30), and a 24 inch 1080p monitor ($90). It's not as beefy graphics wise but it's more than enough for the games they play. Hoping it holds out for 3-4 years and then they will be an adult and can buy their own. With this as a baseline, I hope it will allow them to make good decisions on what to replace it with.

From my extremely limited experience swapping parts, it's less CPU limit with SandyBridge/Ivybridge running Fortnite, and more memory bandwidth. Also, DX12 has less stutter/better lows for such a modest system. 1600 vs 1866 RAM making a slight difference. Ought to try that era hardware with memory overclocking only. I don't have a KZread budget to do it myself, or I would. One of those new production chinese X79 boards and a 3820K or something, or (apparently) a 1600 Xeon. Maybe you can still OC RAM with a 2600 Xeon like the $15 2667 V2, or $8 2670 V1... IDK.

This is kind of cool for the right use case considering it comes with an SSD. For retro gaming, this thing could kick ass for the price! Though you'd be better off picking up a used CRT from a yard sale than using the E Waste disaster of a monitor provided

Lol I did something similar with the first version of my PC. I bought an Optiplex 7040 for $140CAD, it had an i7-6700 and I put a 1660 Super in it. It actually performed way above my expectations and I was able to play a lot of newer games in med-high settings without too much issue. The whole build was under $250 CAD.

The monitor's "brightness" control is likely entirely gamma control through its entire range with the backlight itself not being controllable. This was really common with cheap LCDs back in the day. You have to find the sweet spot for contrast and color accuracy, or else the monitor becomes unusable. You can see the effect this has at 14:02, with the black level remaining constant up until 63% (presumably) and then the white level remains constant above that.

hi, as someone who works at an AMZL center, that wasn’t boxed by amazon as it doesn’t have the amazon branding on there. it was likely damaged during shipping from the seller to the fulfillment center that it arrived to prior to hitting a delivery station. hope this helps

My kid had something like this until I had enough handmedown parts to just buy a full size case and stuff them all in. This kind of thing is amazing for getting kids into their first PC. 350 bucks for a full PC set up is under the price point of current gen consoles so it's great for a kids christmas or birthday gift. And even though it's kind of expensive to upgrade, it can be done. As well part of the expense of PC gaming is the monitor and other accessories, so with this you can slowly swap in new parts or better accessories. 10/10 for any sellers who actually give out deals like this.

750 TI is my favorite card of all time. Special place in my heart. Allowed a 14 year old me to actually pc game on a crappy old workstation his dad gave him. Doesn’t connect to the PSU, just chuck it into the PCIE express slot and your golden. Could play most games at low settings in a comfortable 60 fps.

I have a mouse that looks exactly like that only mine says Bytech on it. Picked it up for $5 at Ollies to use with a cheap laptop. Up until a couple of years ago I was running a PC with a i5 2500 and for its age its not a bad cpu. Had it paired with a gtx 1650 super. I think the most graphic intense game I ran on it was Fallout 76 on high settings.

We got my step daughter a "gaming setup" from eBay. For the same price as a n i5 2500 with gt710 with single channel memory. We got a much later (6th gen or 8th gen) i5, gt750 and 2 sticks of dual channel memory, monitor, keyboard and mouse. The case is pretty good as well, with a glass side panel. She's very happy with it
