I am learning to do RSX swap as a hobbyist. It is very difficult and I am struggling.

glad to see you're back with the bga adventures man :D

Thank you for watching! I also watched the video that you reacted to my setup, it was very helpful too. It's like having a personal teacher pointing out what is wrong with my setup and action. Thank you once again!
These videos are great. I went through similar problems when trying this sort of work so know your pain. Awesome to see how much progress you've made! Keep it up!
Finally, great video! Keep it up, great work!
Nice work man, i'm really glad seeing you progressing.
Amazing!! Happy to see you gave it another attempt and succeeded! I finally got my t8280 and will be attempting this soon. Some day you will make a fortune selling frankensteins and can pay off that electricity bill ;)

Thank you for watching. It's a tough journey, but I enjoyed it!
yes sir, playstation home is a value game these days. the data behind it within the internal HDD helps restore the game. i'm apart of a small group actively preserving it's data and have restored it into an online state. we need more japanese ps3s with the icon still intact.
Good luck bro
Great! We need more people getting into bga rework.
can't wait for the next one

I have uploaded part 3!
I had a fat model PS3 but it was the second revision which was not backwards compatible with PS2 games. It also had an 80GB hard drive and 2 games bundled. Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm. I got it in 2009 and it wasn't until I believe 2015 that my PS3 had started to fail on me. Long story short, I have a super slim PS3.

such a random comment on a video about doing technical sh*t
Id' say 100ºC pre-baking for so long will toast the capacitors. 85C ones will be done and even the 105ºC ones, being so old, will probably not like it. It also seems not need just to remove moisture.
we're missing a lot of data from that region of the world. i've started buying japanese ps3s off of buyee hoping that i'll find working ones with the icon. i'm watching this video because i really need to learn and understand how to temporarly repair ps3s in case i buy broken ones.
Great video! When part 3 will be posted?

Thank you for the support! A new video is out!
The big culprit for YLOD isn’t because of the Tokin capacitor used, but rather because of a faulty RSX (GPU) found on early models.
You can't get away with doing this kind of project on the cheap. Utilizing the proper PCB preheating equipment as well as good rework station would turn out much better success. Lastly, further research on temperatures for re-balling or replacing GPUs or CPUs would also help.

Thank you for watching and the suggestions. Do you have any rework station that you recommend?
I wanna learn this skill too, but being a College student and hobbyist is really hard. I have 4 YLOD Launch Model PS3s, CECHA01 that has Tokin Issue which I've already fixed and sold for about 100 USD but there's still 3 that needs reballing / to be frankied since I also happen to have 4 slims. I don't have an oven and a preheater. Am too broke! 😂

I have CECHG04 ? Can it be repaired?

Indeed, soldering or BGA rework are very expensive hobby. But it's fun!

@@hardwarerepair200 I have something to ask, I have just fixed an error 2040 on a PS3 Slim CECH3000 with KTE-001 Board by adjusting the potentiometer on the PSU, it seems fine but theres new error 2130/2131 or 2030/2031 even if it's working and upon testing for 6 hours with rest in between the PS3 shutdowns itself again. And I've got the error 2130/2131 which is the Thermal Sensor (Don't know if it's the diode inside the CPU/GPU Chip or the IC????). Yet my temps are normal 57-62°C with 34% in TLOU based on WebMAN during the test. Should I give up and let this rest in peace or this is still fixable? 😅

The NEC Tokin capacitors aren’t the true culprit behind YLOD. Though they can indeed fail, the cause for YLOD is actually due to a faulty GPU found on early launch models.
@clarencioo3040

@@crazedlunatic43 that's true. But the syscon states that the Tokins are bad so that's why I've only replaced it as I don't have a BGA rework station to do a franky
yea the console #4 just boots to the xmb because you used that bit of hot air to heat up the rsx
we could use your help in finding more japanese ps3s with the playstation home icon. we are not apart of nagato's "project"
