the thing is, we germans evaluate the term "drunk" different. as long as your speech is understandable, you arent drunk. when you start to slur and get too near to people, you are drunk. if you stumble around, you are sturz besoffen. while other countries say they are drunk when they feel tipsy. so we arent able to drink more, we just stop later.

As long as you can sit upright you aren't drunk. Everything to 45° sideways angle is considered tipsy while laying on the floor half naked in your own puke counts as wasted. There is a reason I don't drink only once or twice a year in very moderate ways :D .

Fun Story! My Brother is in the Bundeswehr (Army) and was stationed at a Navy Port. He and his Squad were the Heavy Drinker Squad (which ranged from 17-30 Years old guys), because all he needed to do is to load the ships that were in the port. One Day an American Ship entered the Port and ofcause your in Germany and the Crew (which was the first time in Germany) wanted to go drinking. So it happend that they came across the Squad which my Brother was part of and they thaught, it m ight be a great idea to have a drinking battle with them. Next Morning my Brother and his Squad were called by the Vice-Admiral of the Port. There they meet the Captain of the American Ship who was smiling the whole time. It turned out that all the American crew members couldn't get out of bed. And the Captain than offerd my Brother and his Squad to visit the Ship. On board on the ship the Captain called all of the members that participated in the drinking battle and veryone had a good laught on the difference of my brother and his Squad and their members. He was completely fine and the americans were not. So you might had the better luck xD

you actually really sound better in german when drunk. like, yeah the sentences dont become more elaborate obviously, but the pronounciation sounds like you can speak it perfectly, just with an american accent. in other words, you dont have to worry about pronounciation when learning for now. that comes with confidence. just try to use as many different words as possible and within a few weeks you are gonna sound smarter than most teenagers who reuse the same 3 words in every sentence

Looks like someone had fun. Your German got better and better throughout the video. A good example of how much of our abilities are often being blocked by being too self-conscious in the moment. Back in school,13th grade, we went out to some place and we had an American exchange student with us. One friend Axel was doing really badly in English class, his marks regularly around the equivalent of C- or D. The joke was that English was his Kryptonite. The more drunk he became the more he was chatting with the exchange student all night in fluent English. Really well. We all agreed that the teacher would be sooo shocked to learn that Axel can actually speak English and speak it well. We also agreed that bringing a Bananenweizen (Weizenbier with banana juice) to next class was no solution for Alex’ grades. He still passed. Vier gewinnt. 🙂

hey james, glad you are enjoying germany. i love your open character. your incident happens to a lot of people, but most are trying to hide, but you express it in your video, exceptional. Some people mind, but most of germans dont, because germans love honesty. Your german is quite good. Alwas remember: learning by doing. Germans are used to speak english in holidays, movies and series if they watch them in native, music whatever. So its quite harder for you to learn german as for germans to learn english. Dont feel underestimated, we know, and we appreciate. What I think germans like most of you is your passion and openess to germany. You really try to understand the culture. I have to say one thing: Big cities like cologne, hamburg, berlin, frankfurt, munich, etc. are very open and a lot of people speak english, but if you really want to know the culture, please visit some small villages and join the local events. You will have an awesome experience aswell but you will get to know some specialities especially food. Love your content even if for me sometimes your excitement is maybe played (sorry for that assumption, but I am not used to that, usually, could be real) wish you all the best manne

17:35 i can relate to that ^^ with me it is also so that the surrounding mood has a great influence on how you feel the alcohol and how you feel yourself. at such a classic festival like wine tasting with relaxed background music you always feel very relaxed

Check out Hamburg. Major port city. 'The Reeperbahn' is the infamous red light district in Hamburg. Also called 'Der Kiez' or you may have heard it called 'St. Pauli', where The Beatles used to play and where they got discovered at The Star Club. If you've spent a Saturday night partying you then go on to the Fischmarkt on Sunday morning. It starts at 5am and it's a mix of tourists, Hamburgers that buy fish and drunk people that are left from the night before ;-). A typical Hamburg thing to buy there would be a smoked eel. Very yummy. There are a lot of things to see and do. Alster rundfahrt, the port, lots of small clubs with live music. The Hamburger Dom is happening Jul 21 - Aug 20. It's a big twice yearly fair.

Some of my friends are in the us right now to visit a friend. A couple years ago he was visiting Germany. He stayed 2 weeks in our location at Christmas until new year. Useally we dont work in this time and have a lot of drinks every day. After 2 days he quit drinking whit us, because he was so exhaustet. One morning he wakes up and asked us, if we are drinking again. We denied because we didnt go to bed. It was a damn fun week. Your videos are very nice to watch and i think you are a gumbl Typ

I like experiencing people drunken, at least once. Because you get to see their nature. And yours remained friendly, so you do not try to be someone you are not. I would have advised you to not mix drinks. If you have wine, then continue drinking it. Jägermeister has to be really cold to taste best. But great video. I enjoyed some rum tonight.

Jägermeister actually has a lot of alcohol in it. So yeah u can drink it fadt but 20-30 min after u r wasted. My best(worst) drinking storys starts with drinking Jägermeister. My rule for when r u drunk: if u dont remember the end of the party u were drunk ;-) P.s.: Was funny how u tell us ur drinking story, because it sounds like this was ur first drinking story. Had to think about how i tell my first drinking story (with 16) kinda cute. Much love for u. Love ur videos

Back in july 2006, i'd been part of a single solider exchange programm for two weeks. The first week I joined an artillery brigade of the Wyoming National Guard on their exercise in Utah. At the last day, there was a big party. We drank a lot of this weird american light Beer, and as the night grew older, all my american fellows got drunk. Even the brigade commander a one star general asked me why beer doesn't work on me. I answered, beer gets me drunk, but not that lite stuff. The night ended me (Staff Sergeant at this time) and the General trying to empty a bottle of Bourbon. Two month later my exchange partner (Master Sergeant) travelled to Germany, and he fell into the rabbit hole, called Jägermeister.

Kinder Surprise eggs are banned in the US because of a US Law that forbids packing not eatable things into Food. This law was established back to the 50´s after a chocolate company had the brilliant idea to put little toy soldiers into their chocolate bars and many kids choked on them ... and yes, sadly some kids died.

I like your videos. But to be honest to you 2 Jägermeister and 4-5 (good) glases of wine is something that many highschoolers consider as "vorglühen" (pre-heating). That is the amount of drinks they do BEFORE going to the actual party place. Good to see that you all had a nice time here in germany. I hope level the regions out on your next trips. Maybe to the northern germany, like Hamburg or the coast itself. And mybe to the south like Munich and so on. You will be able to compare that and see that germany is very different, depending on the region. It is like comparing New Yorkers to Texans and Californians, etc. (but on a much smaller scale by kilometers apart from eachother.) Looking forward to other videos on you channel.
