That finale was more intense than any fights in the actual pokemon anime Which is funny, since "I came to the final battle without a full team of 6 and won" and "We're both down to our final pokemon and mine is at the disadvantage" have both definately happened in the anime

I'd saaaay... Ash VS Paul in the anime's gen 4 - which featured an Infernape's grudge match against one hell of an Electivire, which was Motor Drive speed-boosted from a previous bout in which it took down Pikachu - was _pretty_ goated. And what happened to Alpha here is absolutely of that level, in terms of stakes and drama. Now, this isn't me going "wElL, aCtUaLlY", right, because I played Pokémon Emerald Rogue myself and had one hell of a first run, so, I agree with your statement on principle. I'm only mentioning this fight because to me, whenever a personal adventure reaches that fight's level of awesome, then the game that allowed it is doing something right.

There's also the "no full team" bit in Gen 5 League, Ash v. Cameron. The dumb idiot thought "full battle" meant 5v5, but his anchor Riolu evolved into Lucario mid-fight, and he won (I think, it's been a while).

The Professor Oak surprise at the end of the game is so cool to me. Like, I've heard there's data in the original red and green for an unused fight with Oak. Apparently he takes whichever starter neither you nor his grandson pick. Oh, and great job to Alpha, I can tell this would take a LOT of focus, even with his knowledge of the series :D

Man, this video has SUCH a good story. It actually feels like Jacob's Storytelling leveled up recently for this

Yo that Excadrill came in so clutch with the outspeed at the end there. Only thing that was missing was Jacob screaming "My (Exca)drill is the (Exca)drill that creates the heavens!" To bring the Gurren Lagann reference full circle.

It's so fun seeing the more recent Pokémon which never got this kind of spriteart before in this style.

Ah, this reminds me of my first run of Emerald rogue where my entire 6 man team who beat a gym leader was swept by a random trainer's poison orb, facade teddiursa

The trainers in this game can be evil, i once ran into a guy with a suicune when i only had fire types left on my team and you can imagine the slaughter

Ferrothorn and Excadrill carrying the dream to the end made me smile, got me all nostalgic over Gens 5 and 6 competitive lmao

Being there for the Oak battle was a religious experience And seeing the whole run now is awesome!

For the Moltres Draco Meteor segment: If this is emerald battle AI, then the draco meteor’s damage probably rolled so low that it wouldn’t have ko’d either Pokémon, so it chose a target at random.

I really need to play this, I like Pokémon and I love Rogue-likes, it’s like a match made in Heaven.

Just wanted to say this was probably my favorite of your videos. The editing is on point, the story telling is great, and the gameplay was exciting.

I'm hyped that Excadrill was the last one standing! Had one that was a star for one of my own nuzlockes, so its got a special place in my heart. This was an awesome video! I was on the edge of my seat.

This is my favorite pokemon video youve released because for once the challenge actually is a test of being ready for anything and one that genuinely put you at the edge of (and more often OUT of) your seat A far cry from your most recent nuzlocke in which you has so much confidence from start to end. Personally I like roguelikes for their "every run is different" aspect: there's more strategy involved than just "pick the best items in the game every single time" since the game is not guaranteed to give you said best item

@@ZackNakazora1 yeah basically, alphas excadrill had a high enough speed iv and maybe had speed evs? i actually dont know if emerald rouge removed evs or not, but it was enough to make the difference in outspeeding moltres

Love the Gurren Lagann reference for that one drill pokemon I forgot their name but Gurren Lagann peak.

This is one of my favorite Alpharad vids, I laughed way to hard at the dumbest jokes

Ferrothorn is a godsend for this game, if you manage to get one. Also, any mon with heat wave is mandatory for doubles, mono fire is the easiest mono type challenge (after water of course) because you can just start with a charmander with a y mega stone and a Torkol and just heat wave the shit out of everyone.

A gently reminder that Exgadrill is awfully fast Gg Alpharad for this W🤩🤩

This was so wonderful.. hoping for more Emerald Rogue content on the horizon!!!

Honestly glad to see such an underloved pokemon such as ferrothorn get most of the spotlight in this run!

genuinely one of the most entertaining videos I've seen recently

I'm just gonna point out the bangers selected for the background music and sound effects. Like, hearing Kid Icarus and Dragon Quest music here on top of a hilariously edited video is just great, and the sound effects like Paper Mario's "miss" adds to the hilariousness. Good job, whoever is picking the music.

That run was incredibly hype. I'm so glad I was there when it happened. Those last fights were an emotional rollercoaster of hope and despair

This was one of the crazier attempts of this game I have seen yet, what a rollercoaster through and through.

I’m a bit late, but using the “Anxiety” track from the OST of Celeste pairs perfectly with what was being talked about and going on at 19:11 in the video. Good choice

I won't lie, the end literally had me on the edge of my seat. Great stuff all around 👍

Loved this. My only disappointment was that the finale was not faithful in team build for the battle that never was but buried in the code.
