One reason I really love watching Guga is how he uses the scientific method to determine if something is good. He finds a question, researches the best way to serve it, makes a hypothosis "I can't wait to try it." "I'm curious how it is gonna tast" "I'm not so sure about this one everybody" Does the experiment, tries the food himself as well as his buddies, reaches a conclusion and communicates his thoughts on it. Sometimes he will even return to an experiment when there's more questions to be asked, different things to try or he felt he didn't give it a fair shake. Another reason is how cheerful and friendly everyone is. They rub elbows for laughs, and thank one another and just chill out in a calm and chill vibe. Oh, and also the memes get me to laugh.

I once paid $100 for a steak in a really nice steak house. It was dry aged for 45 days I think, porterhouse, it was huge. I figured, I'm not going to be doing this often, let me do it this one time. Totally worth it and still one of the best things I've ever eaten. $2000 for a steak? That's a joke.

It really, really is. I understand how the alcohol at that restaurant gets marked up to unbelievable prices, because it's really a pretty standard markup. But at $1750 a steak? Normal markup on a steak is like 250-300%. Best guesstimate is the steak itself probably costs the restaurant about $40 assuming it's dry aged and prime, plus what did Guga say? $5 for the gold leaf? So you're paying a 3800% markup. It would still sound like a lot at just $200, but you could rationalize paying it. I could buy a whole, dry aged prime rib at a butcher's and still have probably $1400+ left

Not to mention that cooking an steak is not that hard. You just need to keep an eye for the temperature and that is it. And if you have sous vide... that stops being a concern altogether. It doesn't need crazy seasonings or even to make a sauce. But even then, you can make that and it is not that hard. While the steak rests, you can put some wine or brandy in the pan, some rosemary and garlic. reduce it a bit and then put some butter and that is it. The amount you pay at the restaurant, you can pay it to get a higher quality cut. And you can personally chose the one that has the most marbling. All in all, the steaks I have cooked have always been a million times better than any steak I have had in any restaurant.

The best steak ive ever had was thin ribeye tossed into a pickle bucket, filled with zesty italian dressing, closed, marinated for 3-5 days, then grilled quickly over charcoal. The flavor was great, the fact the vinegar in the dressing had already 'cooked' the steak prior to grilling allows you to focus entirely on the char, and it was incredibly tender. Just use a screaming hot grill, and you dont even have to worry about flames/flare-ups, as it will just help crisp up that good ribeye fat. Its the cheapest, laziest way to grill steak, its practically fool-proof, and the results never fail to impress.

My parents' favorite steakhouse is a formal Brazilian experience where you pay 50 per person dollars to have dozens of waiters periodically come around to your table and offer you different cuts of meat at your preferred level of doneness. It includes a fancy salad bar, however many servings of pao de quejo, yucca frita, and mashed potatoes you want, and if you go really hungry, you are getting WAY more than your money's worth for a bunch of quality cuts of meat bc it doesn't stop until you're full. Drinks and dessert aren't included, so on a PRICEY night, the three of us eat for 200 dollars. It's worth it every time. What Saltbae does here is take a name and face from an overnight virality and inflate its importance to make it feel like his prices are worth it. Not as much care about the quality. This is a steak you buy just to say you were able to afford it. He's a brilliant scammer

I had gold on a dish before and yeah it literally has no taste at all. The only thing I think I felt was that it seemed to keep heat better and gave a bit of a warm feel. But overall taste, there's basically no change and not worth paying an arm and a leg for.

A 3 course dinner at Gordon Ramsay's 3 Michelin Starred restaurant at Royal Hospital Road costs approximately £200 per person (depending on the wine and if you select from the cheese board). Over $1700 for a steak is just not worth it, especially knowing that you can make a similar steak at home. Anyway, to each their likes and their wallets.

I like how you're so down to earth and honest without being either condescending or 'being nice' especially when it comes to how a dish works and it's true worth (with gimmicks), along with not ripping the service staff for management's decisions. For that you get a like and subscribe fellow culinary friend, I'll be looking at your channel for sure now that I've discovered it.

For a good feed of Australian steak, go to The Black Cow, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. Delicious, and no gimmicks (wine list also excellent)

It's weird that I can watch so many reviews of this Salt Bae but I still want to go and try for myself😂
