I'm Polish and to fully understand that Mike says there about his fist contact with the game developers you must understand what happened after Poland had been released from the Communist Party grip - suddenly we got access to A LOT of goodies and got flooded with new stuff... but luckilly science-fiction had always been a big part of our culture. So, with the introduction of official prints of pen-and-paper RPG gamebooks, like Cyberpunk 2020 or Warhammer, fandom went like CRAZY. I remember scrounging for money to buy new expansion books, new systems, to travel across the whole country to participate in countless sessions as GM or player with nerds like me... 90' was the golden age of RPG in Poland. And this wave of nostalgia allowed the guys from CDPR make wet dreams of freaks like me come true. I'll be the first in long line of customers just yelling at them to take my money... hopefully it'll be worth it!

Spent my childhood in the 90s reading the shit out of any and all sci-fi I could get my hands on, and I can tell you it was big even way before that. Actually many excellent Polish authors as well as ones further East such as Russia were active in the 80s, as sci-fi was a way to produce social commentary and explore the state of humanity under the strict censorship. I know many people in my generation grew up surrounded by these kinds of books because our parents had extensive collections of them. It was BIG here, and so was Cyberpunk specifically, between the tabletop and countless short stories in the genre published in the sci-fi magazines of the era.

But in reality all he really wanted was more money since he didn’t think that the games would make much money. So he sues and cd projekt paid up.

Yong as an interviewer I think you’re brilliant. You ask the questions and get straight to it, you don’t interrupt and actually listen to what’s being said. It’s a relaxed natural feel I get from your interviews and gotta say that’s rare these days when watching companies like IGN try to bang out a fast 5 minute interviews where you get no detail. The huge gap between the rich and poor is a common theme in cyberpunk works. In Altered Carbon you've got Meths (from Methuselah) who can pay for multiple clones and regular backups of their consciousness. They end up living for centuries when a normal person rarely goes through even two bodies, and definitely not clones.

Yeah. Sapowski just wanted to cash in on the success CDPR rightfully earned by taking a relatively unknown property and molding it into one of the best RPG franchises of all time. In retrospect he should have been thanking them, given that their success directly translated into book sales for him. I know I bought some of the books following Wild Hunt, when I otherwise wouldn't have.

Every single person I have seen behind this project has been nothing but a wonderful and genuine person. CDPR for being "incredibly competent fanboys" and bringing to light this fantastic but lesser known universe, doing their best to keep it true to the source material. Keanu Reeves for being such a genuine and fun person, and now Mike Pondsmith for being a passionate and genuinely kind person. This gives me hope for the games industry.

"Johnny silverhand finds his escape in rock" well good. Seems like the soundtrack may be great too.

I thought this dude was the cooler version of Morgan Freeman his voice was so deep for my speakers

Best thing ive heard about the game was the free roam thing. basically stealing cars and fucking around with the cops and gangs. Thats great replayability value.

Lol, yup. It's funny having smooth voiced Yong, usually known for his great voice on KZread, sitting here getting outclassed by the golden honey God voice of Pondsmith. To be fair, it would have happened to the rest of us as well, lol ;)
