Another real 4:3 21" ips monitor with low input lag that are made today is the EIZO FlexScan S2133 but it is 10 times expensive(around $1000) don't have s-video or composite but have a display port, dvi and vga, can also rotate as the Dell, people say its a good monitor for retro gaming......but the price...

I was originally using an OSSC with a 4:3 monitor at 1600x1200 and was extremely satisfied. That monitor died and I got the non-business model of the monitor in this video. I was less satisfied with that because the display was quite dim (probably something wrong with monitor or the non- business model is just that much worse). In any event, I would love to see Ron do a follow-up video as well using a scaler to get razor-sharp pixels on this baby. Oh, and please show us some Dreamcast using the VGA!

I had an earlier version of this 4:3 monitor for my first PC. Had the Dell surround sound with center bar attached to the monitor, it was sweet and sounded amazing to young me. This looks like a few generations past mine with MUCH better inputs and probably better lag. Glad you found the perfect for you monitor, thats all that mattters. I wanna get a Sony LCD Production monitor now, like Wulfden has. Yes I have 2 PVMs and a BVM but each display tech has its charms.

I have several of these Dell monitors... However, lately I'm experiencing power issues and screens that look partially washed out. Either the unit wont power on or I can no longer adjust the screen for optimal viewing. Just remember, these units are 16 plus years old and they don't last forever. So, before you spend your hard earned cash, think about other (newer) solutions. I personally will be purchasing two new Samsung 24" monitors (on sale at Best Buy for $109 each) to replace my old Dell 4:3 20" monitors running RetroPie in two arcade cabs. I can always scale the aspect ratio in RetroArch to get a 4:3 experience... Just my two cents worth...🙂

..i have a pretty awesome 480p Sharp Aquos 13" LCDTV for Retro Gaming (6th Gen and lower) that I got while working somewhere in Japan..I used to be a "Wrecking Crew" and this house that we are about to demolish has some nifty stuff that we're about to dispose..saw this cute little monitor and said "hey, i'm gonna take this home if it's okay with you, boss", surely he approved..6 years later, it's still with me, using it every now and then. ..quick specs: 480p 13" LCDTV with built-in stereo speakers, d-terminal (component), s-video and composite..it also has a carrying handle like the GameCube, for easy transporting 👌🎮

For component or rgb you can probably put it through a retrotink and hdmi to dvi

Do you need to buy the sound bar for audio? You can’t just buy some sort of 3.5mm audio cable to connect where the power cable for the soundbar is?

I used to have one of those...but I couldn't stand the ghosting (just pause the video and you will see like three Marios running) and the input lag. Anyway, great video as always!!! Thank you.

I follow your advice. But for nes, snes and Megadrive (pal), I get nothing with composite and S-Vidéo. Is it normal ? GameCube works. Is it because of small résolution (250x240) ? But how do you manage to make it works for you ? 😢

I guess it's pretty cool they work with retro consoles out of box, but my job still has some of these monitors in use on our workstations and they're horrible for trying to do work on.

hey i have a question, i could get my hands on the same monitor, and im very happy about it but... I can't get to play it in full screen at all with my SNES. The only way I could connect my snes is via an OSSC using a rgb scart cable sync on luma, using a hdmi to vga cable to reach the monitor. Because both s-video and composite video wont work and it's not a monitor issue as it is working properly, i tested the inputs with other consoles. And looks very sharap but it's not in full screen and has some black bands on top on bottom of the screen and i would like it to play it full screen. And you seem to have just a s-video cable setup if i understood correctly. Now my question is, can the problem be because my SNES is a PAL SNES and therefore it won't work at all using composite or s-video with this monitor? And also why doesn't it work just with the composite cable? I really dont understand....

I got a hold of a similar monitor, but the one I have has extra DVI & DP, so RCA, DVI, HDMI, & DP. Not sure what the model " is. Thank you 🤓 it's bigger than the one you are featuring here!

Youll find to get a larger then this dell 20" 4:3 then monitor you have to spend way way more $$! EIZO territory for medical/professional monitor's. But you could buy the Dell 27" 16:10 aspect ratio and run that in 4:3 mode to get the equivalent of a 22" 4:3 monitor from memory.

I have one of these with an IPS panel, rev 05 but it unfortunately doesn't accept a 50Hz PAL signal. Anyone knows a 4:3 alternative being more generous with a 50Hz PAL video signal? HP L2035 (TN panel??) maybe ??

I also suggest the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP. Its basically the same thing but its 1920x1200. 4:3 sources should scale properly. It has composite, s-video AND COMPONENT. Of course with DVI you can use an HDMI adapter for something newer but you need to split the audio too. It also rotates and because it is wider, vertical shooters will be much bigger. Man I'm starting to miss mine but anything cart based, I emulate. And if I did get something like an SNES or N64, I'd HDMI mod it.

not the same 2407WFP have 16:10 aspect ratio and 2007FPB have a real 4:3 aspect ratio panel

@@OneMore1UP Right, 1920x1200 = 16:10 but 4:3 signals will display at 1600x1200 which is proper integer scaling with black bars on the sides. It has Fill, Aspect and 1:1 options in the OSD. Works great for DOSBox. You also have the ability to display 16:9 signals and it will have black bars on top and bottom. It is a very versatile monitor which can cover composite, component and HDMI, basically from the NES all the way to a Switch and PCs via VGA, DVI and HDMI using DVI to HDMI adapter.

Hi I want to ask something. I already looking for this 2007fp in my country online shop, but it's not available anymore (and I don't have access to import it through amazon, egg, etc). But I found two identical monitor in term of spec(res, inch size), they are Samsung SyncMaster 204 and HP LP2065 (still available in here). So my question is, have you ever know and try them? the samsung and HP. Because when I'm looking video review of these monitor for retro gaming purpose, there's nothing compared video review for 2007Fpb. The Review some are the basic hardware review, nothing else. So I want to know how is these monitor and why there's no video review of them. Thank you. (forgive my grammar, english not my native languange).

16:10 hp pro displays are the best because not only you get like 6 inputs, support for RGB over VGA, component, svideo, av inputs 9n the back but also integer scalping for any resolution and thanks to 16:10 aspect it can even scale 480p content
