I really wish more people would advocate for ending dog racing. Thanks for adopting Poppy!

I also adopted a greyhound dog. Bought for her a love seat that she immediately adopted as her sleeping place. She got along with our two cats. She was the gentlest animal I ever had. She had a look though that intimidated the neighborhood kids. If they only knew she wanted was a pet or hug the kids attitude would have changed.

Sad to see what she went through. Greyhound racing should be banned everywhere. But she’s now living the life. She should’ve always lived. Thank you.

She's beautiful. Thank you for adopting her. She is really happy now.
I didn’t realize that about Australia. Blessings for adopting her she deserves this life. All dogs deserve a loving and safe home!
My brother-in-law saved two race dogs,,, just the sweetest babies ever, but they were traumatized by their previous lives. Just give them time and love,,, thank you for helping her❤️
That last photo of her is proof that she has developed trust and is happy in her new, loving home. She is safe and cherished.
How can people think some dog breeds are just for a sport/industry?? They are so wrong, I'm glad Poppy found a loving home where she can be her best self.

I guess just how people can think some animals are only for meat. All animals will react positively to affection and attention. Cows turn into big playful dogs when treated well.
Here in the Netherlands we follow the science and scientific rules and we categorize animals by what they are, not by what they do. A greyhound is a dog, no matter what a politician calls the animal to ease his or her own mind.

Greyhounds are the absolute best dogs. I've been owned by 3 of them. All of them came off the tracks in US. We do not have many available for adoption anymore over here but the rescue groups are bringing them in from Austrailia, Ireland, Scotland and other countries that still race them. I'm so glad you adopted Poppy. She is absolutely beautiful and such soulful eyes. Warning.....your heart now belongs to a greyhound. This will impact you for the rest of your life in the most amazing way possible.

Do you recommend a specific rescue organization that handles international adoption of greyhounds (to the US)?
Greyhounds are one of the best breeds. Gentle, hardly bark - I've never heard them bark. There are two in my neighborhood here in SC, USA. Just sweet, loving animals. I'd like to rescue one in the future if able to.
Love that she’s toy motivated. So many of these ex-racing dogs know nothing of toys. Love it!
I wish my dog was still alive 😢❤

Shes crying for her babies i think.😢 Lovely doggie in her new chapter of her life
We’ve have 2 retired racing greyhounds they really are adorable, but in the nicest possible way they can be drama queens ❤
We need to be sure to never go to dog or horse races, it’s a cruel practice and the animals are being misused and abused. Please spread the awareness, thank you!!! ❤
Thank you for rescuing this beautiful girl ❤🥰😍
Thank God you rescued her. So many people get designer dogs, it's good that you reached out to these race dogs, they have such hard lives. Now she gets to live her best life!💞
Why are people so wicked and ignorant?? Thank you so much for giving Poppy the wonderful home she deserves!❤❤❤
Poppy! Beautiful doggo. Greyhound’s are dogs, how brutal to classify them otherwise. Thank you for your compassion and love; it’s the only thing that matters.
Thank you for rescuing, adopting this beautiful greyhound dog! Thank you for your love!❤️
Thank you for giving Poppy a wonderful life.
Thank you for letting her finally be able to be a dog !
She's a beautiful pup! So happy to see her in her forever home with people who truly love and cherish her. 💝

Greyhounds are such gentle dogs, they actually don't need much exercise, they only need short walks, they're the perfect pet. I'm surprised to hear that Australia isn't so clued up about greyhounds. Thanks for looking after Poppy ❤❤❤
Thank you for giving Poppy a chance with happiness!
Dog racing needs to end, once and for all! Thank you for adopting this sweet girl and giving her a loving home! 😊💖🙏
Please send your greyhounds to the US! We have a dearth of adoptable greyhounds and many of us have had retired greyhounds all our adult lives! We want more!

Greyhounds are BEAUTIFUL dogs! Every once in a while, when I'm out and about, I'll see someone with a Greyhound. I'd love to adopt one, but I don't have the big yard one would need.

Greyhounds don't need a large space, a couple of walks a day - a quick sprint in the dog park if you have one - the rest of the 23 hours will be spent hogging your couch. Despite their size they are ideal apartment dogs.

You have truly made my day! I knew someone who adopted a retired greyhound. She left it inside her apartment alone, for hours on end. I felt so sorry for the furry baby!❤❤

so nice to see, that she finally got the home she absolutly does deserve and the family that she absolutly deserves
She is an amazing dog. And I'm so glad that she has a mom who is giving her lots of love. And she gets to play with another dog and go out and see things and be loved. Because that's what it's all about.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Greyhounds are so sleek and soulful. Thank you for giving her a happy life🌻
Thank you for giving Poppy a loving home.❤❤❤❤
Thank you for adopting Poppy and for sharing the video with us. We adopted our greyhound three years ago (in Indiana, USA), and it's been one of the best decisions we've ever made. There are only two tracks left in the U.S. that race dogs and not many breeders outside of the kennels servicing those tracks, so we're not sure what the future of greyhounds will be here, although quite a few greys from Australia, Ireland, and the U.K. are being flown in for adoption.
"Industry".. it's awful. Poor dogs. Thanks for giving Poppy such a great home!
she found her reflection of heart in you🐾💙
One of the best pooches! They're incredibly loving and so quirky, they'll keep you laughing❤❤❤

That's what I thought, too. The way she holds her bunny close like she would her child, and the sadness in her eyes looks like loss from being a Mom.
God bless Poppy and your family for adopting her. Something should be done about racing dogs and the way they are raised and treated.
God bless ❤❤❤thank you ❤❤❤
These Greyhounds are so interesting from the track, I wish we could put an end to their suffering and get them all adopted
I love Greyhounds and Whippets. They strut along so delicately like a Catwalk Model. They have such a fabulously soft and gentle nature.
What a sweet wonderful story ❤️. We would love to have a Greyhound 🥰. Thank you for sharing 👍🏼👍🏼. Stay safe healthy and happy 🐕✝️🇺🇸
Thank you for letting her being just a doggo. Its sad to see that Greyhounds are treated as a "resource" for the racing industry. Glad see will have the best retirement life. With lots of love and cuddles.
Poppy's lovely.💕🐾 There's an org called Grey2K that originated in a neighboring town (proud to say!), and they got gh racing banned in our state and others in the US. Now I believe they're working towards doing so in other countries like AUS.🇺🇸🇦🇺 Let's hope we can stop this and give these sweet dogs good retirement homes.

No offense, but it sounds like Australia needs to take another look at their classification laws for greyhounds; they sound archaic! I'm from Tampa, Florida, and, growing up there, there was a track nearby, and we always heard horror stories about how the animals were treated and trained, using cattle prods if they were slow to start and, if they weren't good runners, they would be put down. Then, a rescue organization came in and worked to have "retired" animals go to them, instead. In the beginning, it was odd to see these long, tall, totally streamlined (great for racing) dogs walking around my neighborhood. The reputation they had - that they were nervous, not to be trusted around children or small animals, or were, somehow, brain damaged because of the cattle prods being used too much or something like that - were, for the most part, untrue. Yes, there ARE exceptions, but they are behavior issues resulting from poor treatment and, with loving care and consistent training, even THEY can be wonderful companions. My neighbor's greyhound was scared of EVERYTHING, at first. He knew nothing but the track and cages. He was very timid, unless he had a muzzle on. Suddenly, he was confidant, although a bit confused that he wasn't being expected to run. The kids of the neighborhood, me included, would take turns walking him, with the owner walking alongside, just in case. They worked hard on being able to take the muzzle off, for good. The day that happened, my neighbor had the whole block, just about, in their backyard to witness his graduation. He KNEW he was finally FREE, and danced and ran around with us all, (and not just the kids)!!! He was an "Elder Statesman" when I graduated high school, and left for college. His walking was slower, due to arthritis, they said. He passed away a couple of years later, at about 14. (I just took a pause to look up their life expectancy, and said 11.5 years was the norm! We ALL cried. ❤😢❤😢❤

@@SilverAuntie No offense taken, not sure why I would. (G2K works to ban the gh racing industry; I think we all agree that it's archaic and cruel.) That's a lovely story about your own neighborhood down in Tampa and the greyhounds there, thanks for sharing it.☮️

Thank You💗! Darling Poppy, so grateful you get to have a loving retirement, which all dogs deserve. The more I know about the human specie the less I like it, we are cruel. May the following generations do away with such barbaric practices.
Poppy is lovely. You have given her a genuine dog life of love and care.

Oh, she looks like my Sarai! Those beautiful eyes. They are lovely dogs, greyhounds. Most are gentle and sweet. And to see them run is a beautiful thing.

I love greyhounds...beautiful souls. xxx
We had a miniature Italian Greyhound named Lui that was given to us by a friend, back in 2003, he was such a dear dog to us, he lived with us for over 15 years. He became an old man, his face turned grey, became blind and lost almost all his teeth🥺. We miss our dear Lui.

Poppy is adorable. Greyhounds are so sweet and fast! I have a tall mixed rescue dog who is kinda hyper, young and she loves to run and play hard. She’d be tired playing with a greyhound who would easily outrun her. ❤🐕
