I accidentally built a fairytale greenhouse (Story 59)
It took a year to finish this project but it's now here: a DIY greenhouse. It went through a few stages and turned into something quite different from what I initially imagined, but it's now much cuter than I honestly thought it would be.
In this video:
00:00 Intro
01:03 Recap from last year
03:04 First changes
06:13 Building the dormer structure
08:06 Adding corrugated panels
10:51 Working on the interior
14:06 A pitched roof
22:01 Making space for vegetable beds
23:11 Adding a work bench and shelves
25:14 Fixing the back
27:01 Making a table and work bench

"It's just a greenhouse, it doesn't have to be perfect" .... says Rosie the master builder and then builds the most perfect and amazing greenhouse I've ever seen! LOL!

Horse Puckey-as they say-this is an amazingly poor plan and will NEVER be properly functional or durable.

One on the strongest person I’ve ever seen and listened. I’m humble and honored to be able see these videos. Big bow.
The videography, the arial shots, the music the close ups, your parents helping and the beautiful work of this green house is completely breathtaking. I wish we were friends so we could have green tea at the little table while potting a tiny plant 🪴😁 thanks for sharing this. This made my week.

Yes, I’m wondering how she gets these drone shots. Doesn’t look like she has anything in her hands in these shots.
I love watching people make their dreams into reality; it requires both whimsy and intellect in concert.

❤what a wonderful greenhouse. And so special to have your parents there to help. A very inspiring video.❤
Wow, your parents really did a great job with this, especially getting the clear plastic panels, which allow in so much light. What a wonderful memory this will be for all of you to share, creating something so beautiful and you built it together.

❤ What a Sentimental Memory building your Greenhouse with your Parents. This will bring you happy tears in years to come. God Bless each of you.
In Sweden we celebrate putting on the roof with a “taklagsfest”. I hope you celebrated your roof with a real blow out of a party. Such good work. I am so so impressed by you 🎉🙌

What a thoughtful blessing over her.
Spectacular! You could honestly design greenhouse kits for people with limited budgets/space, from small raised beds/benches with storage underneath and swing tops to modular versions of what you created here, and make a good living off of it! There's a huge market in Sweden for alternatives, for everything from balconies, to urban gardening, hundreds of thousands of allotments and for regular gardens. You're very talented in your use of simple materials making pleasing, functional and airy designs, like you did with your kitchen too. I'm sure this greenhouse will be a total gamechanger for you from early spring next year. Being able to start the growing season earlier and keep the plants warmer makes all the difference up here. And besides all the food you'll yeild I'm sure you'll love spending time there, under that pitched roof. Well done you! 👏👌😍
Be sure to provide good ventilation so your plants don't cook. It's beautiful. I put LED lights in mine. Great job.
Dear Rosie, I must say, out of all the youtubers i follow, your videos are the ones i look the most forward to! Your courage and way to just go head first into projects, but also planning into every detail and taking the changes and uexpected fails with a smile - you are very inspiring and your journey is such a privelege to be a part of! :)

Whaw, Rosie you have become quit the carpenter! The greenhouse looks amazing! Glad that mum and dad could get you a hand in sourcing the materials and also lending a hand when it was too big or difficult to handle alone. You must be so proud of your achievement!

It's a fairy tale green house!
Wild Rosie You are so handy! I am very impressed! There is a lot that you do as Swedish women (of course, this also applies to Swedish men!) never had a thought to do it ourselves. You could teach “how to survive the Swedish countryside) There are probably not enough superlatives to describe you.
THAT is the cutest, most magical space Rosie! You and your mom have the same adorable mannerisms. It will be so lovely in there on a sunny but chilly day, to have a tea and just be. Well done.
You must be so proud to have designed and built the sweetest green house. The bench is a fairy table for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Cherished time with your parents and you working together. Lovely.
Im starting to like Rosie more and more. She s going here own way to think and build things that she have never done before. Im also going my own way. 👍🌻🌞
You did amazing, as you always do. And the video was made beautifully 💕 Now to the part I don't really want to write, but feel compelled to as a professionally trained joiner who's seen a lot, and lost part of 3 fingers to a machine (they were all put back and healed fine in the end so I'm one of the lucky ones). Your safety awareness around power tools really scares me sometimes 🙈 To make a long story short, please never ever cut/saw lumber (or anything, aspecially in non uniform materials such as wood) with the blade pointing toward any body part. If you need to hold a piece of material, prop it up, or hold the end you want to keep from falling and saw with the other hand, never crossing the two. Never ever! Blades can shatter from nowhere in the middle of a cut (happens more frequently than you would think). Timber can all of a sudden change in density, within the same piece. Things, like pebbles, minerals etc can be invisibly imbedded in the wood (due to wind, animals etc, and then the bark just grows over it year after year making it invisible). All these things can cause saw blades to either shatter, kick back or rush forward, sometimes so rapidly your brain won't follow until after the fact. These things lead to lost fingers, severed arms and worse... All the time! You're so precious to so many of us. Please please be more safe, even if it means being slightly inconvenienced in the beginning. Once you get the hang of how to do things with safety first in mind it will quickly come as second nature (self preservation is a powerful motivator) and you'll just do things the safer way automatically. If you struggle with getting started, search for things like "circular saw safety" etc, and you'll get good visuals to remind you of the dos and don'ts to keep top of mind. I'm rooting for you in everything you do and hope you will take this as well intended advice rather than criticism. That's how it was meant, no more, no less. Take care, be happy & be safe. I all ready look forward to your next video 😊❤

And ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS wear safety glasses!!!!!!!...I also felt sorry for you poor hands, try wearing gloves...even fishing -gloves that leave index, middle fingers and thumbs exposed for dexterity. ALWAYS safety first, good luck with your projects❤
What an enchanting little greenhouse which has inspired me to get on with my own build. Watching your parents help was a bitter-sweet experience. It reminded me of my own, who both passed away within months of each other ten years ago. Savor every moment you get with them. One little warning about the material on the back of the greenhouse. I used that type of tarp myself. It was rated as UV protected, but it started disintegrating within a very short time, even in partial sun, and has left millions of tiny plastic squares scattered around. Every one of those tarps (polythene with embedded net) I've ever seen has done the same. I believe they ought to be banned from sale. Start looking for some alternative material to have on hand when you see the first signs. Sorry for the damper, but better be prepared.
This was such a delightful video Rosie!! What a stunning addition to your homestead. Having your parents there to help and also witness the amazing talent you have...bravo!!!
It’s such a pleasure to read your story. Love that your folks were present to help out. This was indeed a luxury. You’re in my prayers all the time. Thank you for this gift of watching your journey. Many blessings
This structure is smashing! Obviously will be very useful for food production. We can see you sitting on that little bench and enjoying soaking up the warmth on sunny, cold days. Treasure these moments with your dear mom and dad. Wonderful to watch this structure go up. BRAVO!👏✌
Your greenhouse came out so magical and will bring you so much joy and food. Your parents were such a great help for you and I’m sure they feel blessed to be able to help their daughter 🥰
One suggestion I would make is to use some metal bracing in several places to tie down your roof to the bottom rail like the one you used on the doomer. High winds will pull that roof off. Hear in the states they call them hurricane clips. But flat ones would do the same.❤❤❤😊
Great work Rosie ! Love the greenhouse . But make sure that you have a pole to support the roof in the middle , but only under the winter , then you can take away in the spring . 😇 / KM

I think this is my favorite episode ever. I have watched it so many times. I would take my cup of coffee each morning and sit in the greenhouse. Beautiful. You are so talented.
Rosie, your "can do" mindset is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing all stages of your planning, "changes and why", build, to the finish. I'm looking forward to building mine, as well, next year. I was born, raised, and married into the construction genre and so I have some knowledge by osmosis. I'm totally impressed!!! Blessings to you!!!

Wow you said you didn't mind if it was perfect, but Rosie it looks better than most professionals could do. You put such detail and love and care into it. Your mum and dad must be so proud of everything you've accomplished on this land.
What an awesome video. Love seeing you creating with your wonderful parents. You are so lucky to have such a supportive family. The greenhouse is stellar. The dormer for a proper door and peaked roof for snow load are both brilliant pivots. That’s your superpower, Rosie, on the move thinking, with a gorgeous outcome. A true skill.
I look forward to your videos every week. The creativity, problem solving and your joy during every project is so wonderful to watch.
Fabulous job and it looks really cute and functional! The only thing I would consider adding is a self ventilating window. They are relatively inexpensive, but an arm will push open the window automatically when the temp reaches a certain level. I don't think you even need solar for it. However, they do make small, inexpensive solar fans for greenhouses, too. It 's so important to keep the air moving.
Your mom is so energetic, glad to see her enjoying the builds
Just the sweetest little greenhouse ever!! Great work, Rosie.
This greenhouse is so adorable that if it were me,I’d probably drag my sleeping bag outside at night and go camping inside.. I have never commented before but wanted to give praise for how interesting a delightful your videos are. I look forward to each new one that posts.

Your greenhouse is fantastic! I bet you can add water collection very easily with the steep roof. You are very creative!
I have really enjoyed watching you gradually transform your property. It inspires me to keep moving forward, slowly making changes to my own property which I moved into in February of this year. It is a lot of work, but SO rewarding as I'm sure you know. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Saw fairy !!! I can’t believe how many angles you have mastered here !!! What can’t you do ?!!! Seriously your skills are so impressive. Also very precious to see the family input into it ! Beautiful. Enjoy it !!
Your joy and the time spent together with your parents is precious! Thank you for welcoming us in to enjoy vicariously with you!
Omg it was so satisfying when the door hinge went in 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Rosie, your greenhouse is wonderful! You are a great example of the proverb "necessity is the mother of invention" Keep up the amazing work. 👍
WOW. Abolutely beautiful. Your parents are amazing!! Rosie I look forward so see what you do next.
I have just recently found your channel and have busily watched your journey. It is so refreshing to see a 'renovator' with relatively no money and no experience try to do what you are doing. Watching you get better at construction has been inspiring.
Rosie, it's such a treat watching you create and be so industrious, independent, and downright clever! You must be gratified at the success of your journey, and how satisfying it must be to see what a beautiful life you have built for yourself with your own hands. I enjoy your videos and look forward to each, wondering what your achievements will be each time. Sending some bravas your way, and of course to Mum and Dad too. I wish I had a greenhouse like yours, I'd be so proud! 😊👏👏👏🤗🇨🇦💖
The greenhouse is adorable! Nice job.
you put so much energy in this house ! it's wonderful to see the family working together !! you're a source of inspiration for other women
Watching this and seeing you'r mum working with you made me miss my mum so much!! She is no longer here with us but with great love I remember the moments when I did walpaperin and other building and renovating things with her. You are lucky to still have your mum around ❤❤
Wow it is the cutest greenhouse thank you for sharing your incredible little build. Much love to your fantastic parents, I really love seeing your mom in the videos. Such a dear sweet family! Bless you all!
Oh you are so clever! What a feat! And it was precious that you could do this with your parents! What great memories for the future when you feel by your self! You can just go out and have tea-anytime! Love it! Blessings from Tx Danielle
Super cute, Rosie, I am envious! So wonderful to have both of your parents able to help you!
Well done Rosie and your parents. You work so well together. The pitched Roof and bigger entrance and the bench over the rock are great. I imagine that if you grow year round in there you may build another. If you have a black covered water source (garbage bin, or spray paint milk containers) they will absorb heat in the day and radiate that heat out over the nights. Compost is also a heat source , both of these low tech strategies will give off heat to start seedlings earlier to get a head start ). Rig up a few containers and collect the rainwater too. Botanical garden greenhouses, and Botanical gardens are my favourite places. I was very interested with how you ran with your design. I do hope you will get around to fixing that wood rot at the bottom of the window where your outside work bench is. Please don’t wait like me…10 years later…a huge job….I have had to sculpt and sand the Builder’s Bog (Oz brand) to match the 100 year old window frames. A stitch in time saves nine.
One of the many reasons that I love your channel so much is that you are an amazing film maker, a true artist. Thank you for sharing all of this beauty with us.
Such a beautiful build to grow and live in! Nice to see the whole family working to make it happen! Hat's off to you Rosie and Family. Good luck and God bless you! Patricia
Rosie, you are amazing! I love the design of the greenhouse! I’m glad that your Mom and Dad were there to help you❤️👏👏👏👏👏
You are most welcome. I hope you cultivate marvelous, delicious, + lovely plants! A charming greenhouse.
The way the saw went toward your arm made me nervous. Beautiful work 🏵
You are such a design genius. Just stunning. Well done you.
I'm almost in tears about how sweet this build is. You did such a good job!!! And I'm so glad your parents were there to help you out. I really get the feeling that it was all built with love❤️
It really is such a beautiful space and the pitched roof gives it a very proper conservatory vibe! Congratulations, so precious to have your parents enjoy the experience with you! ❤
Awesome!!! With ever-present non-stop geo-engineering 24/7, we need a greenhouse too!!!
What a great addition to your garden. You are such a talented designer and it’s so wonderful to see the joy that creating gives you. And … what supportive and hard working mum and dad you have 😍
You did a GREAT job🙏 together with your mom ( my cousin } It was loving to see you together💖I LOVE all your work on the house and guesthouse and now a good functional greenhouse 🌹
What a joyous place you have created for yourself and your plants…..what a marvellous escape for those days when you are fed up with MDF or renovating in general! Be proud! You are such a marvellous craftswoman…no glue!!! I am so impressed with your diligence to detail….I guess it helps some that you are a designer by trade! I just happened upon your channel and now find myself an addict and binge quite a bit on your videos! Your parents are so good and helpful to you as well..making marvellous memories while playing in the sawdust! Xxx
The fact that the original greenhouse structure remained upright and intact through the winter is a testament to your design and construction skills. I have to admit I didn’t know what batten and dormer were so thank you for expanding my vocabulary. The altered greenhouse is just amazing. A work of art really. I’m so proud of you!
I've been watching your videos since episode 5 or something like that. I remember when you built the original greenhouse and how upset you were when it didn't work out. Every time they come for holidays they make life changing projects, like digging tunnels for water pipes that provided water in the main house, this time it's a green house meaning less shopping and being more self-sufficient
Thank you! You left in the bits where you made mistakes, you showed yourself being discouraged at times, and you then showed us to never let those things get you down! You made the video relatable and just amazing to watch! I am a subscriber now and can not wait to go back and watch some of your other content. Plus I love the Greenhouse!
It's absolutely gorgeous, and you're amazing ✨
Hej Rosie, i have seen a lot of diy greenhouses but your design is the most likeable shape i have ever seen. also your growing skills in woodworking are amazing. Well done and i wish you a happy harvest.
So much joy I see. Angels will visit often…keep going…we learn as we do.
You looked pretty chuffed with the roof of your greenhouse - and you ought to be. Your patient and methodical approach to everything is allowing us all to see growth in your development in all manner of areas, none the least being your constantly improving tool skills and planning. Independence creates an amazing environment in which to flourish.
I absolutely Love your little greenhouse!!!!!! I can only imagine how fun it was to have it all come together like that.

What a truly beautiful video. Your filming, voiceover and postproduction skills are awesome; the music is just right without being overwhelming and suits the piece perfectly. Well done.
Wow! This is a super nice greenhouse! Thanks Mom & Dad for helping! I'm sure this will serve you for many years to come! I can't wait to see your bountiful harvest!
Your parents have set a good example for you. What a beautiful greenhouse.
your greenhouse definitely is competing in cuteness with your main house! congratulations!
You are so talented, carperters should be envious of you.
Run some clear silicone along edges of plastic to stop rain getting thru. Great design btw ❤
Love the greenhouse! And so wonderful to have your parents visiting and helping!
This is some thing homesteaders and back to earth experimenters we’re doing all the time with modest materials. As a kid, I’ve read so many DIY homesteading books with people building their own greenhouses and cold frames. DIY growers would do well to consult gardening books from the 70s 80s and 60s concerned with home greenhouses and sustainable houses. People were building lean to greenhouses against their homes as A means to provide a heat sink and mass to better warm the greenhouse, as well as benefiting from greenhouse, warm in winter. They could access the greenhouse air to provide more heat to the living space in the cold months.
Wow you are amazing, smart, etc. that looks so professional. Good for you and the help from your parents. I’m sure they are so proud of what you have accomplished. God bless. 🙏🌹😊
