The complete story of my tiny guest house renovation from start to finish. I'm finally moving in!
I'm currently renovating a 100 year old Swedish house by myself. I finished the kitchen and boot room, and before I move on to the next space, I decided to fix up the guest house so I have a comfortable place to stay during the renovation. After several months it's finally finished and I can move on to the rest of the house!

Oh Rosie it looks amazing and I adore the dress you made it's so pretty. I know the ceiling was hard work, in more ways than one, getting the supplies for a start and the snow, but it's really turned that little cottage into a more spacious looking space. Just beautiful and so inspiring x

I appreciate just how realistic your projects are. That you allow them to unfold slowly is also a breathe of fresh air. Having done enough DIY renovations, it can feel so disheartening how life keeps on interfering with plans and it always ALWAYS takes longer than you anticipate. It looks so inviting. Man, that ceiling was a task and a half! I felt the relief when you finally tapped that last piece into place lol. I’m relieved you recognized the white was not right. I don’t know how it reads in real life, but on camera, once you covered the grey floors and got more warm toned items in there, with the hint of the yellow you added to the paint, it might not be fully satisfactory but it DOES look warmer. Love the dress. How nice that will be for summer 😊.

Hi Rosie, Though you’re not convinced on the yellow (reads gold), you can feel happy about the brightness it creates. I actually like the warmth much better than the earlier cool colors. They made the place feel a little dingy. May you enjoy many blessed hours in the comfort of your lovely guest house.

FYI: if you put in boards on the ceiling joist, you can cover them with your tongue and groove just put a 45° angle on the bottom edges where they meet and with a little sanding you can make it look like it was original makes a very pretty design with very little effort.

7 months late to the party here. BUT, about the bowed shelves. Get them moist, place them flat and put something heavy on top to weigh them down. They will flatten out and dry in that position. Works with all wood. I've done this with table tops and shelves that have warped.

This time, i got a smile from your comment in the previous episode that the paint looked mushroom colored in the sunlight... and now here you are putting up little haker mushroom hooks! You could get creative and paint each one as a different kind of shroom 😂 It's all so beautiful, Rosie. You are talented AND skilled, and i love that you are DOING it, not just dreaming about it.

Low ceilings may not look stylish, but they make the interior much easier to heat. This is why many older cottages in cold climates have low ceilings. Heat rises and much of that heat will stay far above people's heads if you have tall ceilings -- unless you install ceiling fans to blow the heat back down to where the occupants are. Of course, you could just use the little house during warm weather and keep it unoccupied during cold weather. For future reference, it is a good idea to strip away the wall paper before painting the walls. Painted wallpaper is much, much harder to later remove than wall paper that has not been painted. Or you could just remove the wall cladding and cover the wall studs with wood siding/paneling if you do not want to strip off the wall paper.

You can use a pump up spray, bottle, large, or small, with a small cheap spring levered faucet to have running water with just a hose running outside for the drain most people Dig 3 to 6 meter 10 to 30 mm deep trench fill it with gravel and then put the dirt back on top of it and it will accommodate any water going through that small sink.

Congratulations on finishing the tiny house! It looks fantastic - taking out the ceiling and widening the interior door really opened up the space a lot! I'm also really glad your bed actually fit in there - I assume you measured that beforehand because that would have been a huge bummer otherwise. Is there any update on when someone can come look at your chimney? Given your comments on how cold the house is, I really wouldn't wait too long to get that one sorted - summer is short in Sweden and even just a couple of logs should keep you comfortably warm in the winter and make the whole renovation a lot less uncomfortable. Fingers crossed it can be fixed reasonably quickly (i.e. before autumn) and isn't too expensive! And now I'm really excited for what you'll do with the study/dining room!

In the Nordic countries, walls and ceilings are built in such a way that the structure is denser on the inside and more airy on the outside. This is because it is usually warmer inside here than outside. This dense surface inside prevents moisture from getting into the structures, and on the other hand, the heat inside pushes the moisture in the structures to the outside. Insulators are never placed between two plastics or tar paper, because then moisture can get trapped between the plastics / papers. This way I damage the structures inside the insulation. An air gap must also always be left between the outer wall or roof boards and the insulation, which can be made of, for example, fiberboard.

Such a talented lady I love seeing a woman’s touch on a house. I always believe without a woman a house is not a home such an underrated thing these days and I’m not implying that a woman should be limited to the home, the opposite it’s just that women see things different to a man, we see things differently but I know that we men add or own touch too. such a lovely channel thank you for sharing your life xx❤

Så mysigt jag kunde flytta in direkt. Vad du är duktig. Det krävs verkligen en hel del olika förmågor samt noggrannhet. Du har allt detta. Kul att följa dig, wild Rosie eller varför inte vildrosen

I was bummed when you started painting the traditional wall paper but "the after" is so incredible. Really impressive!
