I think the point being made is that California is famous for trying to regulate everything (especially in the name of the “climate crisis”) no matter what the cost is, YET we allow homeless people to take over entire areas, driving customers away from business, increasing crime/drug use/public defecation, etc. The cost of this wholesale lawlessness is going to be expensive and I’m not just talking about fixing the freeway

Why did the city not see this as a hazard is beyond me. LA has only gotten worse with mental illness and homeless problem. They made a mistake defunding the police and the extreme left has not done anything but support these problems. They take the rights of it citizens to protect themselves. I grew up in LA and the best thing I ever did was join the military and get out of LA.

Similar story, my family moved out of LA when I was 8 yrs old. I'd been threatened and bullied on the walk home from School too many times & the same for my older Sisters, so we moved up the coast 90 miles. We used to camp overnight on Hunnington Beach for the annual Grunion Hunt (a small Herring like fish that spawns in Tidal waters). Hang out all nite w/ a Bonfire, Hot Chocolate & S'mores. You could Never do anything like that now without being Robbed or Mugged or worse. LA has only gotten progressively Much Worse since and ALL under Democrat Rule, go figure.

I was born in Inglewood 1955 and grew up in Hawthorne. Best childhood ever. It’s sad to see how L.A. is today. Had to move to Colorado in 1988 and still live there today.

@@GlassOnion602 Yupper, grew up in LaMirada, Dad worked in Bellflower & Huntington Beach was a " Go-To". We moved up to Santa Barbara in 61 & my folks purchased a 2 story on a cul-de-sac for $ 60k. You can't get Water for new housing in that town since the early 70's so of course, housing prices are "through the roof" for the area. That same 2 story is valued at over $1 Mil today. I'm up here in SW Washington (after 15 yrs in Alaska), where seasons are mild and there's still plenty of water & hydroelectric power.

R u guys paying attention how the fire is being fought on 1 front on the west but on the east it takes them at least 10 or 15 minutes to start any type of defensive operation on this fire. As it is, the Lightforce slowly creeps in and doesnt begin any operations for at least another 5 minutes. By that time this fire is already out of control. I cant believe that these city firefighters are in no hurry to even start an in attack. The pumper was behind the ladder truck and there standing idle. LAFD SHOWED NO SENSE OF URGENCY BECAUSE THATS JUST WHO THEY ARE.....LAZY AND SPOILED!

They were on the other side of the freeway. The area that burned is a large. They were doing their best but there was 1000’s of pallets and flammable hand sanitizer being stored there and it looks like it might have been done by an arsonist, so they might have ignited it in different places.

Instead of waiting for the fire to slowly spread to the unburned pallets under the off ramp the Fire Chief could have ordered his crews to form a human chain to carry the stacks of pallets away so they didn't start on fire.
