I ordered mine in February, same make but in digital teal. Can't wait! Thanks for going in depth here - like others said I learned a couple of things too, and I have watched many, many videos about the Ioniq 5. Gotta disagree with the charging to 100% all the time tho - everything I've heard indicates that regularly topping it at more like 80-90% is better for the battery health. Perfectly fine to go to 100% now and again, of course, but not for weekly charging. Regardless, enjoyed all video! Cheers
@edsgarage001
Жыл бұрын
Thx for the comment! In Canada, temperatures don't really get and stay terribly high. The amount of degradation you can expect over ten plus years doesn't really warrant the need to stop charging at 80%. Besides, the car never actually charges to 100%, Hyundai has a built in stop at around 90% anyway. I've had my Ioniq EV for 5 years, with 100,000 plus km on it, and my battery still shows as 100% SOH. Granted, there's probably a bit of hidden degradation, but it's still not greater then the 3% buffer. Charge to 90%... But 80% cutoff is overkill.
@crowfoot1199

@@edsgarage001 lol "in Canada temperatures don't really get and stay terribly high" *is sweating out in the Fraser Valley* 😰😰😰 But of course, I know what you mean. And that is a good point about there being a reserve anyways. And even if there is some degradation in the Ioniq 5 battery pack over time, I guess it wouldn't be that big of an issue anyways. I mean, it's not really different than having a slightly smaller gas tank, yeah? And the range and charging speed on the I5 is so good I don't expect to have any range anxiety at all. Pretty amazing about your Ioniq EV!

Tested both. Quality feels higher with the Ioniq. Driving quality definitely is plus it's much quieter. The Ioniq is more on the comfort side while the tesla has a harder damping. Whatever you like more that could be a deciding factor. Tesla has the nicer software and screen. But the Ioniq has more passenger space and a wider trunk (my be relevant depending on what you may want to transport). What's definitely a plus for ioniq are its special features: Heated seats on both rows, ventilated front row, relax seats front row, driver information display (tesl only has the middle screen so you have to look over for any info including current driving speed) augmented reality heads up display etc. V2L, closable sun shade, independent cruise control and lane keep assistant (that means you can actually activate only one of them if you want). Depending on the Tesla variant, you may get the new version that does not have the sonic sensors anymore, which means park assist and self parking doesn't work reliable anymore.

@edsgarage001

Thx for the comment! Nothing to view the status. There is however an automated system that keeps it charged, even while the vehicle is off. I'm pretty sure when you power on the vehicle, it'll tell you if it needed to charge it, as The previous 2 Hyundai EVs do that. Not sure if it tells you if it's low, because generally if the vehicle is on and the 12v is low, it just charges it.

I have one of these and a lovely car to drive. One little trick to be aware that when you have cruise control on it “follows” the car in front. Unfortunately if the car in front disappears whist turning a corner, the cruise control will sense it’s free ahead and speed up. This is disconcerting if you are in fact approaching a tight corner.

I honestly wish the automatic wipers were just regular intermittent. I have the auto on my Santa Cruz Ultimate, and they drive me insane. They go berserk in light mist and NEVER seem to be turning on/off at an appropriate speed. No idea why there are 5 levels of auto - even the lowest one is too sensitive. Wish they'd have gone with one 'auto' setting with regular intermittent for the other positions. That would have been awesome. At 100% charge does the ionic 5 ultimate have a range of 360km? Also once the vehicle is moving at 60km/h or 80. If the accelerator pedal is maxed is there a significant increase in speed? The short range version has an *average* range of 354km The long range version has an *average* range of 480km The AWD version has an *average* range of 430km. Acceleration on the short rage version over about 80kph is about the same as what you'd expect from a typical 4 cylinder vehicle. On the long range version, you get a bit more power. More then enough at higher speeds. On the AWD, the acceleration is great even at higher speeds.

EVs aren't for everyone... But: I've been driving my 2017 Ioniq EV for over 5 years and over 100,000km. It was a first model year unit -I've never once paid for a service on it. And it's only had one issue that was covered under (the 8 year 160,000km) warranty despite it being a result of how I drive it -I've never needed an oil change -I've never been stranded -my battery still has the original usable kWh, thanks to a built in buffer -i take it on long road trips despite the short range (200km on average) -my brakes are all original, and still have about 50% of life left -the interior still looks new with the exception of a small bit of wear on the driver's seat I estimate with all the fuel costs I've saved on top of not needing services like oil changes, brake replacement etc that I'm at least $10,000 ahead of where I would have been with an equivalent gas model. If you don't want to be an early adopter, that's ok because you're too late for that already. EVs have been doing well for about 10 years now, new buyers aren't considered early adopters anymore. Plus, according to data analysis of over 6000 EVs, batteries will mostly outlive the useful life of current EVs .

This was so much better than any of the demos I had from the two dealers I visited. I wish you were here in London UK so I could have bought from you. I am now even more excited to be getting my car. A fantastic job. Thank you.

Cheers

Bedankt

@edsgarage001

I have a late 2020 Model X but plan to replace it within 18 months or so. So looking at options and this or the EV6 have my interest.
