Sir… you are an absolute legend and a statue shall be erected in your honour… I’ve been pulling my hair out and banging my head against the wall with the “wireless CarPlay” for 2 years, Hyundai refuses to help on the issue and claims it’s fixed by a “software update” (or by paying $100s for “diagnostics”). Just tried this fix and it works PERFECTLY!! To hell with wireless, I’ll go wired all the way - I can’t tell you how many times wireless has crapped out on me during long drives, leaving me stranded with no GPS. Thank you once again, you are a gentleman and a scholar - cheers from another friend down under 🇦🇺

We bought a second hand electric Kona 2022 in France and everytime we went through a toll booth Carplay just disconnected and refused to reconnect. Hyundai said it was not possible to connect via cable... thank God we came across your video! I was determined to sell the car lol. Thanks your fix worked and took less than 5 minutes to do. Hyundai and their dealers told me on many occasions that the i30 could not work on cable. Maybe if they had told those who complained about the drop outs of this solution they would not be facing a class action court case. Further when asked about my new i30 by potential Hyundai buyers I would not have rubbished them (Hyundai) for not being able to fix this issue or at the least provide a temporary work around. Thanks again and you get my vote for the New CEO for Hyundai.

Just seems like simple customer service stuff to me, I am really baffled as to why they didn’t just do as you suggested, especially a company on the way up in Australia. Definitely am second guessing the reputation of Hyundai….

thank you so much for taking the time into making this video. you helped so many people including me. Hyundai dealer and customer service have been nothing but useless trying to solve this issue. I actually went through this video because of a slightly different issue: after updating to IOS 16, apple car play stopped working completely on wireless. I was able to make it work on elantra hybrid 2021. The cpu was on 4, changed to 1 and it now works like a charm.

OH MAN. You just made my life SO MUCH BETTER. I use my 2022 Kona for work (I travel long distances, so GPS / Maps are very much needed) - wireless CarPlay works maybe 80% of the time, but when it doesn't work, it REALLY doesn't work, leaving me sitting in parking lots trying to delete and reconnect my phone a million times. Followed your instructions to a T, using the CPU config 4, and boom...wired CarPlay. Lifesaver. Thank you!!

Was this in the US that you did it on a Kona? I have a 23 Kona in the US and I am going to be trying to convert mine to WIRED Android Auto. You guys are giving me hope that it can be done!

You sir, deserve a standing ovation. I have just tried it on my US variant 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Blue with software version at launch (never felt need to update) and now the wired carplay works perfectly!. At first, I loved the idea of wireless carplay but the buggy connection is to the point of being deemed “unsafe” while driving. My car has the exact 4 digit codes as yours with the only difference being the wired carplay enables with “cpu config 1”. I could not be much happier with the change. Thank you!

Found your video after being frustrated with constant random dropouts, it’s disappointing we have to dive into these settings to turn on a feature. It would be nice if it could do both isn and wireless and plugging in overrides the wireless but happy it’s working! Thank you!

Thank you so much my dear. I had 2022 Tucson 7 days ago in Turkey and media system only supports wireless apple carplay. My main problem is poor quality during phone calls. I can hear remote end very well but they can not hear me, there is gaps in my sound for remote end. Bluetooth works perfect for phone calls but apple carplay is awful for calls. I was very upset and disappointed. I will try your solution. You are exactly smarter than any body works at hyundai 😀 Cpu config1 worked for me, thank you so much👋🏻

For Elantra Owners in US that it doesn't work for. I've found that the reset button, which I didn't notice before, that's on the dash left of the radio and obscured by the steering wheel a bit while driving, but once you know it's there you can use it. I use the end of my sunglasses to reset, but the times I do get the error that won't go away, you poke that little button and you're back up and running in 10 seconds or so. Message goes away, car reconnects and your good. This is a great work around to make it tolerable now. Not ideal, but better than nothing and having to wait till you turn off your car. And you can do while driving.

I was on the verge of buying a new car, I live in Perth and 90% of the time whatever direction i go it will disconnect at some point (sometimes as soon as down the road from my house!) I'd been searching up fixes for about a year and finally stumbled on this video after another drive east and getting lost because the bluetooth refused to reconnect! This video actually saved me so much money, thankyou so much!! Absolute legend!!

I just bought a new 2022 Tucson and quickly realized the wireless apply car play was worthless. I was gutted. I tried to take it back to the dealership for the 3 day return policy, but they wouldn’t honor it. I was planning to sell my car and eat thousands of dollars. You have saved everything with this. I can’t thank you enough!!! This is legendary status!

*edited .Thanks. Just did it on the Santa Fe Active. Option 2 allowed wired apple play. Not sure if you do lose any settings features on the infotainment display but resolution seems different ? Might need to switch back to confirm. You can only use the USB port next to the wireless charging spot. Wireless charging still works however battery % isn’t displayed.

absolute legend! had my i30 for 3 years now and the random carplay dropouts (even certain carparks or roads that would guarantee a dropout were driving me bonkers. ontop of that, every service i've had done so far they'd say 'we've updated the software' but the version number never changed. can confirm this worked for me on a 2021 i30

YES! Confirmed working on the Hyundai Ioniq HEV 2022, CPU variant 1 was used. Thanks a million for this, I can't believe the shitbags would make the perfect car as far as efficiency goes and then slap a garbage wireless module that drops out constantly for their carplay/android auto implementation. I’m in the US and have a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. I have an iPhone XR and can’t even use wireless CarPlay because it cuts in and out so much. My wife has an iPhone 12 and has zero problems. I’m starting to believe it has to do with older iPhones. I havn’t tried this fox yet because then I would have to switch it back and forth for my when I use the car and my wife uses it. I am assuming this fox disables the wireless feature until you revert it back to the factory setting?

Does anyone know what else of interest can be changed in Engineering Mode? How about enabling reading of speed road signs (cannot remember Hyundais four letter acronym for this feature)? I could imagine/hope that lower spec'ed models could have it enabled afterwards in software, as the camera for emergency collision breaking is default in all models of i30 as I know it.

It also works with Kia of course!Did it today to my picanto. I had to change my iPhone for an android to be able to use a stable gps (worked perfectly with CarPlay). I still have to use it more but seems to work with iPhone now! Thanks 🎉

I’ve noticed a UI lag with wireless CarPlay vs my wife’s wired Kia, I’m guessing wired there’s just less lag on i30? And can you have both wired or wireless? Or does this switch to wired only?

This sounds really promising. I have a 2021 Kia Carnival and I know that both Kia and Hyundai share infotainment providers (UI and menu’s are the same). I can’t get into the mode or get to the pin code screen using the tap method. Any ideas? Or how I might be able to find out? Perhaps I need to be on a different screen etc..?

Sorry Amin, I do not, but one do the things I tried was using a USB to upload different versions of the software, so you could try that. Info is on forums.

I just got by i30 back from its first service and the dealership flashed and updated the infotainment system firmware. Now when you try to go into engineering mode the system requires 8 digit numbers. The old 2400 and 1200 numbers no longer work. Any idea of how to do this after a firmware update?

I think the N has a different screen type in Australia and uses a slightly different software OS. Try the forums for codes etc. Good luck!!! 🙂

It won't look any different I don't think. Mine will go in for it's service soon, we will see what transpires.

I have tried CPU Config 0 through 5 so far without success. FYI for others: 2023 Sonata Access code for Engineering mode is 3802 , Variant Coding is 1200

As far as i can tell, it's possible if you can get the right type. That is dangerous territory though, you could brick it.

So there is no effective update as of Thursday last week. I got an honest response from my local Hyundai dealer service at the 1500km first service. Hyundai are working with Apple on a solution & from the side I got seems they’re blaming Apple for the issue. I’m in Brisbane & the Southside service centre I saw were refreshingly upfront about it… might need this hack after all!

@@sams3913 hopefully they figure it out together and release the fix soon, it’s been too long. Do you have the hyandai i30 or a different model?

My other half has a facelift i30n and that just disconnects from CarPlay. Those codes you put in where do you find those? We are based in the uk. 🇬🇧

Can anybody confirm if this works on a US model Elantra? From what ive gathered, the issue affects all screens that require the wireless connection (so not the Limited trim which has a larger infotainment) but this would include the SE, SEL and N Line (I want the N line but have been holding out because I couldnt find an answer to this issue)

Nope. And I’d tell the dealer too that you are buying a competitor cause they can’t get their head out of their ass. So annoying. Every time I drive I get pissed at my CarPlay.

Question, do you think one of these other CPU variants activate the Hyundai Maps System on base model i30 that has it "disabled"? According to the rest of this engineering screens read outs it looks like the base model still has a GPS built in as I have just switched mine to Variant 4 and snooped through all the other options. Not that you would use the standard MAPs when you have (stable) apple car play over USB....

My guess is no, I think it’s a plug in module that is missing from the base unit. If you do find it, please share 👍

If been struggling with CarPlay drop outs with my new i30 N-Line and this has fixed it for me. Sure, i have to plug in USB, but now most of the issues I had with Waze are gone.

mostly we wont wireless, not wired. i hack my i30 nline to cpu2 the only way to use it wireless. its so stupid to give only one usb. i wont only wireless! how we can find the detailed list of the hole cpu variants???

Thanks so much. I lost connection on Coronation Drive in peek hour traffic. So dangerous!

hi, what about the annual waranty service check? Did they notice the change in coding?

You know my rental i30 gives me pain in the butt. It almost cause traffic accident. This video saves innocent lives and my pathatic license.
