Very informative. Will attempt to install the coupler cushion tomorrow in my Santa Fe I bought new. It only has 60K miles on it. Pitiful engineering to have such a weak point in a place so hard to get to. I'm definitely not a Hyundai fan. My first and most likely last Hyundai product. Thanks for taking your time to post this video! Great job!

Had that same clunk noise happen on my 2011 Sonata a couple of years back. I'm glad it was covered under warranty. Looks like a pain to replace.

Hello, Really enjoyed the video. I was wondering if you had come across or have heard of the 2017 Azera having a "sticky/binding" issue in the steering wheel? I recently purchased a CPO 2017 Azera with 16,400 miles. Didn't feel anything on the test drive around the dealership. On the way home (2 hour drive) I noticed a "sticky" feel when I made slight adjustment to keep car straight. It felt like the wheel was stuck and then when you finally put enough force for it to move it would. It was a constant fight all the way home. Dealership said that it was "normal" for these cars. No way I said. I did some research and found a TSB #20-ST-001H-1 that states if the car has no DTCs and "Sticking/Binding" issue is felt to replace the Column & Housing Assembly (56390-3V460). My car doesn't have any DTCs so I printed information and took it to the dealership that sold me the car. They finally agreed to order the part and install under warranty ( The car has 4 months left). What do you think? Any information would really be appreciated. Keep up the great work and you've got yourself a new subscriber! Thanks!!!

@@hyundaihowto Hello again. Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if you could ask your mechanic mates if they know anything about my issue. Any info would again be appreciated. Thanks again!

My 2013 Sonata didn't develop this sound in the steering wheel until. 2019 my independent mechanic said it would be expensive at a Hyundai dealer to replace a very cheap part. I gather that meant he didn't want to attempt it. But he seemed to think it was more an annoyance issue than a safety issue. Was he correct?

A little of both, yes very annoying. But the play in the steering with make it less responsive.

If the car you can still drive it but it is like if it did not have power steering can it still be the coupler or is it something else my car is a 2014 Hyundai Elantra and it has overalmost 98,000 miles, also it has a nouse from the front of the vehicle but it moves good 👍🏿 🤔 and the light from abs skid control is on and the light from the electric power steering it is a steering wheel and !

If you don't have power steering, replacement of the coupler won't fix that.

@@hyundaihowto That is what I figured, it could be partd that have to be changed , or lose , I just like to inform myself better since it has electronic power steering not like the older cars where you would have to put power steering fluid or ATF in the pump, also it could be something as simple as checking to see if there is a code

Is it still safe to drive with this clicking noise ?

Now what about on the newer (2014) that has the same noise but the (coupler) is completely different. Its not the plastic rubber piece anymore its a spline setup with no dysfunctional parts... ripped one aprt at my shop to find this out..

I can second this. I have a 2013 Sante Fe Sport 2.0T. The motor was a splined shaft and no coupler. 😢
