Ranging down to as low as 10% in much of england. There was never a replacement, the Saxon culture simply became dominant Just as our culture has become dominant over much of the world.

I'm of Anglo Saxon heritage, my ancestors have been in this country for 2000 years. Male, white, Anglo Saxon and proud.

The government could bring in a law requiring every white person in the UK to marry a black person and produce mixed race children. It seems to be the only way to stop these allegations of racism. Unfortunately, only 2.5% of the UK population (1.5 million people) have declared themselves to be black so I am not sure where the white Brits are going to find their black partners. Still as long as 50% of the BBC, 50% of newspaper journalists, 50% of the government and 50% of the Royal Family are black, we should be OK.

I live in East Sussex. (The Seax was the sword carried by the Saxons, so we are the east Seax). All the areas of Sussex are named after the Saxon inhabitants who were famous for the sword they carried, the seax, Saxon coming from this. So Essex is the East Seaxs, Wessex the West Seax etc. you can’t get much more historical proof of the Saxon settlement then that! And a big thank you to Rafe Heydel-Mankoo for your honesty and defence of our true history.

Wales is not Anglo Saxon, we have a proud history of resistance against those people. England for us represents stolen land.

Genetically my Ancestors were southern England and Northern European with a dash of Nordic, so i would class my self probably of Anglo Saxon heritage. My family were around at the time of the Tudors living in Surrey. i haven't gone back further, so after at least 500 yrs i think i can safely say i am English.

Read "the wrath of the awakened saxon" by Rudyard Kipling . That is beginning to sum up the irritation we all feel.

Refering to the British isles as a whole as "anglo-saxon" is innacurate, but refering to England as "anglo-saxon" or "anglo-celtic" is accurate.

Most of us are Anglo-celtic with Anglo-Saxons being mostly in the south and east.

@@Wolfways Genetically most of the population is of Celtic ancestry. Be they Gaels, Picts. Most of these Celtic tribes in some part or another were Romanized. Saxon numbers were relatively small compared to the Celtic population at the time.

I don't think their number was small. I think that Britain's population was scattered and had empty spaces due to migration of the Celtic tribes. The Anglo-Saxons would never have been the possibility to settle in Britain without this migration. They tried to settle in northern France but failed because the Frankish kingdoms were already there.

Recent DNA analysis shows that a lot of people from Northern Europe came to Britain during the migration, they integrated with the population in some places and in others displaced them completely. There were also lots of other tribes who came over who didn’t see themselves as Angles or Saxons. They were just two of the main groups who came over and therefore we take our names from them but we are also much more diverse and have a wide variety of different tribes who inhabited this island after the Romans.

@@antoinemozart243 Empty spaces? The whole island was controlled by celtic tribes. It was easy to invade Britain because the tribes were always at war with each other so when an invader promised to help against an enemy some tribes would become traitors against their own people (celts).

All of medieval England and her neighbours were white, the ones in England were Angle Saxon (who intermarried with the Britons). Are they planning on changing the name of our country England?; originally Englaland, meaning “Land of the Angles. Shortly before he became the pope, Gregory was in a marketplace in Rome and for sale were some fair haired slave-boys from England. Gregory was told they were pagan Angles and he is reported as saying Not Angles but Angels (Non Angli sed angeli). In 596 he sent a mission to England to convert the English to Christianity. So, at this point the English were already a distinct ethnic group. Could America please keep its’ culture wars to itself, they’re f*king up the whole of the west.

We don’t want our history to go away and it doesn’t need a bandaid because, we have been world leaders in human rights and social improvements. We invented almost every modern advancement that exists.

Haven't they only been there 700 years and yet are considered indigenous. We have loads of 1000 year old castles and Cathedrals. Even these were built hundreds of years after England was formed from its constituents kingdoms. The history of course goes back into the dawn of time with Picts, Celts, Britons. Bloody insulting to say that there are no indigenous people of these islands...

@@stevenpatrick9213 Not really. English have likely more Celtic (i.e. French ancestry) than people like the Irish and Scots which is why English pull a little more southern but they all cluster in Northwestern Europe.
