    Ken, thanks, I wasn’t aware of this so gave it a try. Fuji X-H1 - Fuji X1T-F, with Classic EL-Skyport on top. Flash head D-Lite RX4, Camera set to FP in flash setting and can shoot 1/8000 with no issues. Much better than HSS.

    I am always eager to see what new videos you have posted. Always informative and entertaining. I can go to many other channels for videos showing me how to set up a three light shoot but you offer a different slant on lenses, cameras, principles of photography and light, etc. which I enjoy.

    Gonna have to try this out since it sounds like I have everything I need. I have the Godox 1200 W Extension Head (and trigger) for outdoor use. I have 2 of the WL X3200 (usually used with AC power for driving large modifiers through windows ) and the Cyber commander set up for doing indoors stuff. PCB website lists WLX3200 full power t.1 time at 1/300.

    Very well explained. Thanks. Is that the whitelightning x3200? Can you recommend a hypersync setup for my d3 yn622tx ? The whitelightning x3200 is usable at 1/8000 without powerloss as los as 1/3 power? I thought the lower the power the longer the duration on the x3200. I was hoping to use 1/32 and 1/8000 with my d3 and yn622tx which hás a delay timer. What do you think?

    Hey ken, I got a question. First, thanks for your video explanation. I am curious however, in my situation, I have a D750 and some plus X PWs and Nikon speed lights and am wanting lights for more on location stuff. You are definitely correct as to the broncolor products being expensive. I had actually looked into them and was possibly going to purchase the Siros L 800 set because I understood they provided mobility and excellent light. After seeing this video in my research pre-purchase of those, I am curious your thoughts about the white lightnings vs the Link? I AM one of those people who like to open up my aperture but also realistically, I’m going for models, cars, portraits and the occasional wedding so I probably won’t be at 1.8 often but perhaps 2.8 on some detail things and occasionally I’m looking to have enough power to fight the midday sun for some surreal looking shots. Do you feel the white lightning or links be something that would be useful in my situation? I see the PCB website offers battery packs and the links come with batteries. I’d like to avoid generators if possible. If you could provide some feedback I’d certainly appreciate it. Thanks.

    Hey Ken,have a specific question about 56mm f1.2 and corner performance.After some testing (and stupid pixel piep) I noticed that one of the corners is more blurry than the other ,from f1.2 to f2.8 and improving by the third of the stop.I know it is portreture lens but on another occasion sometimes is same corner also sharp. Did check with a big target and Zeiss star but do not see any decentering at all?

    First, I love your videos. I have 2 WL XL 3200 with a Cyber Commander and 2 Cybersync CSR+ and 2 Cybersync CST triggers. What else do I need to perform HyperSync with my XL 3200s? I also have a couple of Flashpoint R2-T (Canon) and one Pocket Wizard Plus II transceiver. How do set it up (connection to the XL and Camera)?

    Curious question: So you say that the Godox transmitter is only transmitting the timing information to the trigger on top of it(say pocketwizard) , right? If so, why can't use just the pocket wizard trigger as the only trigger and make it work? Why would I need Godox trigger at all?

  • @kathodosdotcom

    @kathodosdotcom

    cause a pocket wizard is a SINGLE PIN trip "FIRE!" command tigger, the godox has multipin TIMING information for HSS (and Hypersync) DELAY of initiating the firing

    You can call Paul C Buff and ask them for the t.1 and t.5 times for the Ultra 1800s. Hyper sync is also somewhat camera dependent. From what I understand through correspondence with PW, crop sensor cameras do better with hyper sync.

    Can l ask a real stupid question. Will hypersync work with the Ultra white lightnings. I have 3 1200 ultras and 2 600 ultra lights. I also shoot DX format. Is the process the same? Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

  • @pegshealth

    @pegshealth

    Yes, hyper sync works with Paul C Buff Ultra units. The DX format is actually better for hyper sync. You do need transceiver units that provide the right timing for firing the light in tune with the opening of the shutter.

    I have a Yongnuo trigger YN622N-TX and receivers for HSS and *Supersync*...can those be used to trigger the Buff White Lightning's for Hypersync? As for *ON LOCATION shooting...what's the best way to power these White Lightning's for portability? Why would anyone choose HSS over Hypersync??? The trend appears to be going to TTL with HSS capabilities. Why wouldn't it have gone TTL with Hypersync??? Very interesting!

  • @kathodosdotcom

    @kathodosdotcom

    i dont know on THAT trigger, but if its an HSS for "X" system then yes, but does it have a sync cable to the strobe capable? why??? cause tiny HSS speedlights are what most anyone WANTS for 13 or so feet portraiture shooting wide open at say 1/4000th+ 99% of all strobe work takes no consideration of ANY TTL, TTL is (lets be honest) newbie douchebag lighting control. TTL is contrary to the notion of hardcore professional lighting since it REMOVES total control from the photographer

  • @shiftingfocusphotography3525

    @shiftingfocusphotography3525

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, the receivers have cables. So, that should be good to go. How about portable power options Ken? Would you feel secure buying used White Lightning's??? Getting stoked about the prospects of using them! One more question, since it's such a "fat" light...I'm guessing it's not good for freezing super fast action, right? Is there a light that can do both without compromising too much? As for TTL...lol I've attempted to shoot TTL, sometimes it's really good. Sometimes, it sucks. I find shooting in TTL makes it inconsistent. Maybe that's typical???

    622N isn't good with TTL accuracy. And BTW 622N-TX would stop working if you put it on a X1T-N. You may still need to use the Pocket Wizard mentioned in this video.

    Tested this out on an Olympus OM-D E-MII and Panasonic GH5. Interestingly the Olympus synced all the way to 1/8000 of a second with no problems. The GH5 would only sync to 1/800 of a second before the black line started to appear in the bottom of the frame. Above the 1/800 of a second the images were totally useless on the GH5. Interestingly when using the GH5 with Godox triggers and speedlights/strobes the black line appears in the bottom of the frame at 1/1600 of a second. Were the Olympus will go all the way to the maximum shutter speed of 1/8000.

    You know a guy knows his shit when he teaches Hypersync... Btw, Ken, the other day I was looking into strobes that can generate very fast light pulses to freeze hummingbirds in flight. When it comes to specs, the best option that I found are the Godox QTII series strobes. Do you know if the QTIIs are as good as they seem to be?

  • @ArthurMG00

    The 1200 W/s godox can do 1/25640, quite impressive. The Einsten would probaly do the job, but the godox is a better candidate. Small hummingbirds can move their wings stupidly fast, you need a 1/10000+ pulse to completely freeze their wings. And since im planning on using softboxes, i wont be able to use the strobe on its lowest power level and that means I will have to compromise some of the speed in exchange for power. Using the godox I would be able to trade speed for power better, since its faster speed is twice faster than the einstens, plus the QT1200IIM is twice as powerful as the Ppaul C Buff unit. But I cant find proper reviews on the godox :/
