Hylomorphic Dualism

In this video, we expand on the Aristotelian/Thomistic model of the soul's relationship to the body, generally referred to as "hylormophism" or "hylomorphic dualism". We examine this model in relation primarily to two other contemporary models of the philosophy of mind, Cartesian Dualism and Materialism.

very handy thankyou ! Been trying to figure this out myself and looking for how these aspects are considered. This video is the best so far :) Are there any resources that can help in regards to how the Aristotelian substance can exist ? It seems at some level a material thing will end and a non-material thing will exist ? Simply claiming this unity of matter and form isn't enough, does Aristotle or maybe Aquinas or some moderns flesh this out ?

Thomistic philosopher Edward Feser has a new book on Aristotelian philosophy of nature called "Aristotle's Revenge" that comes highly recommended (I haven't picked it up yet, sadly). The best primary source to go to is probably Aquinas' commentary on the Metaphysics.

He already replied with the Edward Feser recommendation, if a full book is too much commitment, here’s one of his academic essays going over his and the classical view on philosophy of mind, it’s very good. If you need any more resources, let me know, I could send you a serious amount of material on the subject. www.newdualism.org/papers/E.Feser/Feser-acpq_2013.pdf

Potential energy is dual to kinetic energy, gravitational energy is dual. Electro is dual to magnetic, electro magnetic energy is dual. Energy is duality, duality is energy! Gravitation is equivalent or dual to acceleration -- Einstein's happiest thought, the principle of equivalence (duality). Energy is dual to mass -- Einstein Dark energy is dark matter. "Always two there are" -- Yoda. Syntropy (prediction) is dual to increasing entropy -- the 4th law of thermodynamics. The conservation of duality (energy) is the 5th law of thermodynamics. Thesis is dual to anti-thesis -- the time independent Hegelian dialectic. Hegel's cat: Alive (thesis, being) is dual to not alive (anti-thesis, non being) -- Schrodinger's or Plato's cat. Noumenal (rational, analytic) is dual phenomenal (empirical, synthetic) -- Immanuel Kant. God (thesis) is dual to Christ consciousness (anti-thesis) creates converging thesis or synthesis (becoming). Mind is dual to matter, Cogito ergo sum -- Descartes. Duality creates reality.
