    OK Del, I keep a bottle of white distilled vinegar in my garage all the time, I use it on my Iron 883's denim black paint, it cleans witout making the paint shiny. I also use it on my headlight lens, indicator lenses and mirrors to great effect. My great-grandmother used white vinegar all around the house, it's a great, cheap household cleanser in the kitchen and the bathroom, once the smell has dispursed it leaves everything hygenically clean and bright.

    Would powder coat be more durable del them swing arms get a fair beaten

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    2 жыл бұрын

    Powder coat is harder, but it can still chip, it's also a lot more expensive to have done, and you can't repair it if it gets damaged.. this particular paint stays durable and slightly more resilient to chips and scratches, and you can rub down and repair/respray any damage... plus it'll match the frame as that's painted satin black too.!

    Something very satisfying about that. I did my headstock bearings and then decided to paint the triple tree. It had a few chips of paint out of it. Might as well put it back nicer.

    Hi great video, I’m respraying my silencer’s on my Honda cbr 1000f which are black so I’m thinking obviously I’ve got to coat with a VHT paint but I’m finding it difficult to get a gloss VHT paint mostly it’s all a MATT finish which isn’t what I’m looking for . Do you think painting with VHT Matt then curing and then going over with an engine gloss finish that can withstand high temperatures? Any thoughts appreciated

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    10 ай бұрын

    Give this a try mate... Mat and satin paints have a microscopically rough surface, that's whey don't reflect light and look shiny... so if you simply "Buff" a flat finish.. it will actually shine... maybe not high gloss.. but with some T-cut and polish (and of course elbow grease), you should be able to paint your pipe with a VHT paint.. then once it's fully cured by heating it... just set to with the buffage and see what you can achieve.. worked for me many time mate ! Good luck with it.

    Hey brother. I always enjoy watching you paint. I thought of something tonight, though. You always said you couldn't run a "proper" paint gun because you were in a residential space. Now, you're not. Have you thought of trying a gun? I think your compressor would run an HVLP for the size jobs you do, and I'm certain it would run a LVLP all day. You make magic happen with spray cans, so not a shot at all. just something I thought of. Excellent work, as always!

  • @Moonfleet41

    @Moonfleet41

    2 жыл бұрын

    The problem is I'd need to build a booth to encase the over spray off a spray gun set up as it's infinitely more messy than rattle cans, and that'd mean sectioning off a large chunk of my shop to construct a sealed booth when, as you probably know, I've a pro spray shop with a low bake oven spray booth just two doors down from me and I can book it out on Saturdays any time I like... so there's no need and I get to keep my shop clean-ish for regular work! Have a good week brother, keep safe!

  • @Moonfleet41

    It is bizarre that this much water could have ever got in to a swingarm in the first place and it's not likely to happen again as I'll seal it this time so nothing will get in there, which is, I feel, a better option than drilling holes under the load bearing edge of the swingarm, which could possibly effect it's structural integrity...

    These particular cans work really well right to the last drop as long as they're up to full room temp, the more conventional acrylic rattle cans need a little help so you'll benefit from warming them a bit as they run down..!

    Yeah so, don't trust someone else's work, make sure for yourself. I can only speak to two examples of that in my life.. one went "it's not loaded, I checked" and the other was "nah boss the power's off". So.. I guess the factory can't always be perfect either. Great result as ever. Be well 🥰

    Too true Ollie, perhaps a little unfair to have inferred that the factory should always be right, they're just human beings at work like the rest of us after all, and it's hard repetitive work at that, on a production line... glad I found it anyway and can put it right.
