Hurricane Sandy Destroys Bay Head NJ

Please everyone share this video to help show support for the people of Bay Head and all of the East Coast. Entire houses were lost! I paddled on a surfboard for blocks through debris, fallen trees, downed powerlines, and held my breath to avoid being poisoned by gas fumes bellowing out of the ground to bring this video to you. Again Please Share This Album on your page to show support for Bay Head. It is going to take years to rebuild.

Thank you for taking and posting this. I moved from Bridge Ave in August to Missouri and was wondering what Bay Head looked like. I could see my old home. Unbelievable the devastation that has hit the shore! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you begin to heal and rebuild.

Crazy, crazy, crazy... My dad grew up in Bay Head and I spent many of my childhood summers down there. My grandma eventually moved to Mantoloking which was also devastated by Sandy... I really hope we can get this area back to where it was very soon! It's a beautiful area. It's sad to see a place that feels like a second home to me destroyed... Thanks for posting this!

Thank you for making this video. We used to go to Mullers Bakery after church every Sunday in the summers when I was a kid. So many fond memories. Thoughts and prayers to you and all hit by the storm as you re-build.

Breaking my heart. I grew up in New Jersey, and went to Point Pleasant every summer, next town up the Shore. I walked into Bay Head frequently; loved the Old Bay Head Store, if anyone remembers that. My dad spent all summer every summer in Bay Head as a boy. So many memories. And sir, you have more courage than I to be out in such conditions.

Thank you for posting this. I grew up in Bay Head and actually remember the 1962 Noreaster that did a lot of damage as well. This looks worse as I don't remember the flooding shown here. You just missed my house (half way between Mueller's Bakery and the Methodist Church on Bridge. Looks like most of the beach access woodwork is gone. I noticed that many of the houses that fared the best were built on stilts (post 1962 storm!). Thanks again for posting.

This is so devastating. Bay Head is a place that my family and I love dearly, and come to every summer for vacation. It's very emotional to see it in this state. I have been keeping the Jersey Shore in my thoughts & prayers.

Thank you for sharing. There has been so little said about Bay Head. Compared to Mantoloking it looks relatively intact albeit flooded. Thank you also for your bravery. Many folks will feel some relief in seeing this. Not knowing is the hardest part.

Cannot thank you enough for taking the time to share video with all of us who cannot get down there. Does anyone know if we can travel on 35 south of Pt.Pleasant? Are roads passable at all? Saw the tree down at Howe and 35 which is the corner where we live. How did the businesses on Bridge Ave. fare? Again, for all of us who are homeowners (and not bennies) your unselfishness is overwhelming. Hope no one was hurt and thank all of the emergency responders out there.

of all the houses on East Avenue that were destroyed, the one that suffered the least amount of damage, was that huge house on the corner of Howe/East Aves. The one that has a lighthouse shape in the middle of it. the owner of that house is a total scumbag, and I was hoping that his fortune got washed away, but it was barely touched.

Is there any way you could film the corner of East and Osborne? My father lives there and, as a member of the BH Fire Department, stayed throughout the evacuation and storm. I was able to speak with him for about 40s yesterday on a stranger's cell phone but have since been unable to contact him. I know our house is extremely damaged (flooding through the garages, basement, and first floor), but I just don't know the extent. Thank you.

See what's needed now in BayHead, Point Boro, Point Beach, and Mantoloking, visit my facebook page for a link. Any help would be appreciated. Click "Coordinate supplies, needs for NJ 08742," then leave a comment to set up a pick up/drop off or to ask a question. Responders especially need food/water right now. I'll be there later today.
