If you can get a copper bullet, the 6.5x55 will take any of these plains game. The key is to hit a shoulder, if not both, depending on the angle. The Trophy Copper bullets I used, in a 7mm Rem. Mag. went through all of my animals. Blood leaking out both sides. You don't shoot if something is in front or behind the target animal. You only need a bigger gun, if you go after the dangerous game. IMO

Wow..das war eine wirklich beeindruckende Filmproduktion.. I enjoyed it very much to watch the hunts and the perfect service around the day. When you go outside in the bush with your client why you don‘t take a double rifle for yourself..? Or is there somebody behind the camera who carries the rifle for you..? I have seen a second gun in the car. A HEYM double rifle ( 500 NE) in your hands and the movie will be ready for Warner brothers or Paramount studios. I wish Mark S was there! He would have helped us lots! The lioness charged and as you could see, two shots were fired, but from a sideways angle and it didn't stop her. The professional hunter in front of me waited for her to clear the bush, but when he pulled the trigger he had a misfire. He jumped out of the way and she jumped on me. She was only on me for a few second before she was shot on top of me. I got lucky, only 42 stiches and no permanent damage. 3 Weeks later I was limping after another one! Best month to visit Africa? It's a hard question. It depends on which country in Africa, which species you want to go after etc etc. If you give me more info I can help better.

Hunting gives these animals financial value. Without financial value, there is no incentive to conserve any species. Hunters are the true conservationists. Hunters are also not hypocrites.
