There are some aspects from 1999 that 2011 could not reach. One of them, in my opinion, is the darkness presents in hunter x hunter. This Song represents this idea, in 2011 they captured Kurapika's rage, but 1999 brought his deepests feelings and showed how painful and sad everything was to him.

In this version we can feel the broken joy in Kurapika which is important to see. Yes he is driven with pure revenge lust but he is still living and there are good things too in his life like friendship, yes it's not complete but still it's there. I love 2011 version too but this version has that broken joy in it and it makes it for me special.

You are totally right! In this version, I can hear and see Kurapika gently reminiscing his past life with a sad smile. Broken joy is exactly what describes it, like the memory of an old tune you heard a long time ago, around a campfire surrounded by your love ones.

El anime del 99 hizo que Kurapika se convirtiera en mi personaje favorito desde el minuto 0, incluso antes de presenciar todo su desarrollo junto con el Genei, para ese entonces, este niño ya me había roto el corazón como 50 veces y gran parte es gracias a esta melodía, también por las escenas en particular donde ahondan en su sufriendo y crisis. Ahora que estoy leyendo el manga, no puedo esperar cada aparición del "bastardo de la cadena".
