HUNDREDS OF CRAPPIE!! Caught my first black nose! (Garmin 93SV UHD)

Hey guys! Another fun crappie fishing trip is in the books. We scanned tons of crappie today! Luckily we were able to hook into a few and save for the frying pan. Plus I caught my first black nose crappie!! Thats was awesome!!! The depth finder i'm using in this video is the Garmin 93SV UHD. It was putting me on the fish very easily. Now if it could only get them to bite. Thanks for watching!

    These series of videos REALLY demonstrate the realities of owning a nice boat and fancy fish finder. They don't guarantee a boat load of fish everytime. But, it is still a damn side better than fishing from the bank!!

    The Garmin videos have been very helpful to me, thanks. I have 2 93 SV UHD units and been trying to get them dialed in. I haven't been to a spot with them yet that has a good crappie population, but will be in a week or so. I am curious about something though. it seems that you are always around docks in deep water. I know that is helpful because you will see the crappie in the "black area" water column most of the time. Where I will be the docks will be at most 20 ft, mostly 10-15 feet deep. So I am wondering how well I will be able to locate crappie schools if I am in say 15 feet of water and scanning say 40 ft out to the right, and the crappie are way tucked way in underneath the dock, such as more than 15 ft away. If I understand correctly, in that scenario, the fish wouldn't show up in the "black area" water column, but they would appear in the amber image showing the bottom, right? Hope that makes sense. I think if I was scanning right beside the dock and they were close to the end, they would show up in the water column. Further back they may not and I assume will be harder to pick out.

  • @Paulcatchesemall

    @Paulcatchesemall

    Жыл бұрын

    If you are in shallower water and specifically just scanning docks for crappie have it set as shallow as possible, basically like you said 40’ and under, just adjust it when your out there and you’ll find the sweet spot. Also with the 93sv set your graph to scan only 1 side. It makes the image so much bigger and a lot easier to see the fish. It’s easy and effective. And once your done fishing docks it takes seconds to switch it back.

    Hey Ninja, How close is the transducer to the prop? If I’m remembering correctly I believe it needs to be 14-15 inches away. When the props spinning it makes bubbles and the transducer only works when it’s going through water. When it scans the bubbles it’s going through partial air and that causes a blurry screen a lot. Don’t know if I explained that the best but hope you understand. Also do you have the transducer level with the water line? That can be a game changer also.

  • @Paulcatchesemall

    @Paulcatchesemall

    2 жыл бұрын

    It definitely needs to be at least 14-16 inches away from the prop. Idk if your using one now but having a transducer board is great for this. Just so your not putting holes in your boat. And best way to get it level is to bring a level in your boat when you go fishing. And when your driving at scanning speed about 3-5 mph for most people put the level out and it will be offset cause your driving, so you use pennies to make it level and that will be perfect for the water line. Then when you go home put the amount of Pennie’s you needed to make it level and jack up your trailer until you reach it. (That’s what I did at least) hope this works. Best of luck

    That’s a great question. I’m actually in the process of completely updating my electronics on my boat here in a month or so. Personally I’m going to move my 93sv up to the front and add live scope. And most likely going to update my graph at the dash to a 102sv with the GT56IHD transducer. Some of these dealer got some good deals on livescope bundles. I was looking at the Livescope & 1022 model myself. It’s around 2,400. That’s not a bad deal at all in my opinion. Plus I like the 10” screen for livescope. But it’s a extra 400$ for that 1”. But we all spend that extra money for the things we love so it’s worth it to me. Let me know what your plans are I’m definitely interested. Best of luck 🎣😎

    @@savagewolf1966 I personally do not have experience with Garmin Livescope yet. But from the videos I see and people I know personally they can not say enough good things about it. Now if your planning on buying a Garmin for your console/dash of your boat and one for the front for live scope I would definitely recommend not getting any screen less than 10” and get the GT56UHD transducer. The 56 is far better than the 54 which is the one I have. That’s the best they had 2 years ago. I’d say it’s neck and neck with Hummingbird Mega side imaging. I really do like the Hummingbirds SI but I’m not too crazy about their graphs and how they look. I guess I just like Garmins a whole lot better. Plus Garmin is touch screen and it’s so easy to navigate and learn (My Opinion). And for live if you get the 10” screen you’ll be solid. Please let me know what you end up going with whenever you plan on making your purchase. Tight lines Savage Wolf 🎣😎
