To camouflage the nest she put paint chips on the outside to try to blend in with the house.

You can supply soft material for the mother hummingbird to use in her nest. You can buy nesting material for your hummingbird here: amzn.to/3qMImAM
❓Will the nest be used again?

I'm in tears. Poor Crimson. I can't believe how attached I've become to this hummer family.
I am sad for Alik who seems to love the hummingbirds so much and I will always respect Nature and the good and not-so-good things that occur. Emerald has been a wonderful momma and three of her offspring are adding to the hummingbird population, thankfully. Bless all involved.
So happy to see little Clover being fed by Emerald. This is such a bittersweet story. So happy to have watched from the laying of each little egg, to the hatching, first feedings, Crimson and Clover growing day by day, so close to fledging when Crimson was lost, the rescue of Clover and continued hopes for the best. Alik you are a hummingbird hero. Steve's watchful eyes alerting you to Clover's need for help..... thanks to all who made this video possible. I needed to see the happy ending. Cheers to all the Hummingbird Spot watchers. Amazing how hundreds of us shared this special internet community and experience. Fly free little Clover we are all rooting for you : )

When I found out Crimson's fate, I was traumatized and had to reconcile myself thinking this is nature at its cruelest but nevertheless real. Happy to hear that little Clover is doing well and Emerald was a strong defender to see her baby through. Thank you so much to Carole @Hummingbird Spot and Alik for providing us with this update. Your work and dedication is amazing!
RIP little Crimson. :( I'm glad to hear that Clover is doing well.
Sending all my love to Emerald and Clover (and my heart still holds Crimson) - thank you Carole, Alik, and everyone involved.

I was away on business and just now stopped by to hear about Clover. I enjoyed hanging with everyone during this time and hope we can do this again - without the fierceness of nature. R.I.P. Crimson.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for putting this together! I cried, again, but I am SO happy to see little Clover is doing well and that Emerald is still taking care of the little one. Thank you to everyone who cared for them!
Here I am on the other side of the world crying of sadness, gratitude and joy... To Crimson: Rest In Peace! To Clover: Goodbye and have the best hummie life out there! To Emerald: You're the best mom EVER! Caring, courageous, faithful, sweet and determined. Wishing you a long life with lots of other succesful clutches! To Alik, Carole, Steve, Wolf, Ivy, Ginger, Suzie and everyone else involved: THANK YOU so much for everything and this beautiful video! Sending Love from Holland!
I know it's part of the deal and all.... but I cry hearing of a lost hummingbird

I followed this nest for around 1 month and I’m crying so hard right now
Thanks for posting this video! I'm happy to see Clover is doing so well. Good thing your team was around for them. ❤️🍀 And thanks to all of you for answering so many questions from me!
Amazing hugs and applause to the caring humans around this nest, as well as to Emerald and Clover. ❤️ I am tearing up as a mother myself-this world is such a mix of joy and challenge.
We all must cometogether and Save the Birds. Save Birds Save Nature.
Well a sad story turned into a good. It happens in nature every day and when we watch closely enough we see it . Thanks Carrole
Thank you for the updates. May Clover have a long, vibrant little life.
Thank you so much for this Documetary. Thank you Alik. I wish Emmerald and Clover all the best. And i will never forget Crimson.
Thank you a lot for the opportunity to observe the life of such tiny birds while being thousands of kilometers away. I only managed to watch the last two days. And I was upset by the death of the chick. But now I'm glad that the second was able to leave the nest and everything is fine with him.
Oh my gosh - I cried happy tears at the end of this! I am so relieved to see that baby Clover is doing well and that Emerald is taking care of her. Thank you so much for the loving tribute to our little friends.
Such a relief to this video. When the live feed disappeared, I thought maybe something happened to Clover. Thank you for letting us know.
Oh my. I am in tears, so moved by this beautiful video. It is very sad, but also has a happy ending and Emmi is a remarkable mommy. Bless all who were part of the efforts to help those wonderful creatures and keeping this nice community updated. Carole and Alik, you got a big fan here 💕, thank you.
Oh it makes me cry. I can’t imagine how painful it was to see it in real time. I’m so glad little Clover is doing so well. I didn’t realize poor little Clover went through so much.so glad Alik was so protective
This legit made me cry. I was so sad when Crimson was taken. I was about to quit watching then, but I am glad I finished the whole video. Even when Nature is cruel, animals will still find a way to survive. Clovers emergency fledged was so uplifting. And thanks to you and Alik for being a part of the story. You were meant to be there.
the pic of little clover at 5:35 would make a wonderful card.
Oh thank goodness Clover made it! Thank you for providing this update. After reading the title I was a bit worried, since I have been keeping watch over the past few weeks these two grow. Thank you for allowing us to witness nature's miracles, but at the same time life's challenges in the nature. We are all cheering for Clover and hope she/he lives a good life. Here's to Emerald! Such a good mama you are :)
Thank you for the update. I'm heartbroken. But glad for the happy ending for Clover and Emerald. And a huge thank you to Alik! That was an amazing journey! Thank you for sharing it!
Thanks so much for the transparency of this video. I think it's very important to highlight the path of nature, even when it turns against our hopes. While I love hummingbirds, they are complex; it was very interesting to see the other female threaten little Clover. I'm glad the whole story was addressed, and it's nice to see it had a bit of a happy ending.
Thank you for the update. I am delighted that Clover fledged successfully!
Thank you so much for this update Carole and for the photos of little Clover being cared for by Emerald after she left the nest. Tears, but also joy. And thank you Alik. 😘🥀🍀
We're from Indiana and we live on a family farm we love to watch our Hummingbirds alot just bought a Hummingbird bush last year can't wait
Thank you for sharing the story - especially the final pictures. I was one who was in shock seeing it play out live, and it eases my heart knowing that Clover and Emerald are well. I live in the area so I always hope when I see Hummers at my feeders that I'm helping them out too. It'll be interesting to see if Alik chooses to put the camera on the nest should the invading female decide to take it over. Emerald has been such a good momma that I hope she finds another spot nearby to build another nest safely away from the Kestral. I don't blame it, they also need to eat and feed themselves and their babies, but it did hurt to see it happen. Thanks to Alik for coming to Clover's rescue.
Thank you very much for the video. We feared the worst and really appreciate knowing Clover is fine.
Alik, hopefully Clover will come back to visit you, hummingbirds are smart. You are that baby's knight in shining armor. God bless.
I had the privilege of watching the live feed of Clover and Crimson grow over a couple of weeks. It's bitter-sweet how it ended, but this video does an excellent job of summarizing their precious lives! ❤️
Thankyou so so much for the update 💗 😇🇨🇦. Lovnlight clover you are ment to make it in this world 🌎 ❤ and thankyou to ....nature with allik... you have shown us a world we never thought we would see it was all truly amazing 💙
I've learned so much watching this channel. Thank you
Thank you for this. I've been checking in on them, and showed my mom as well. It's very difficult to love nature and hate nature at the same time.

I know. I see my cats catch mice and chipmunks and it breaks my heart, but it's their nature. As much as I hate it.
When I saw the title I thought both had gone. Glad Clover has fledged and is doing well. ♥
Clover is a strong little hummingbird! This is a tough beginning of the life, but I hope this little one can overcome this challenge…👍✨ I would really appreciate if you can update how Clover is doing…Thanks. 🔆AniFam〽️
Thank you for sharing the full story. I never got to see Clover’s final fledge and am so glad I finally got to see it! So proud of this mother and little bird!
Thank you for posting this video. When I came back to see how they were doing the live was gone. Sad to see Crimson gone, yet happy to see that Clover is a survivor.
I thought I was over it but I cried all over again. Happy tears for Clover. Good luck baby Clover. It was wonderful spending the last month watching you grow up. Also, Alike and Carole are amazing people. Also the moderators of the chat.
Just beautiful! The two little ones!
the title scared me at first. I thought something happened to Emerald and her babies during her second nesting this year. Im glad the video ended on a very good ending
I am sobbing watching this. I haven’t been on in a while. Breaks my heart. Poor lil babies. But I’m so happy Emerald & Clover are safe 🙏 Thank you for ALL you guys do for these magical, beautiful blessings ♥️
Thank you so much for the updates and for the photos of Clover thriving.
Oh my! Farewell Crimson! Good luck, Clover! Emerald is one dedicated mom! Be careful, sweet birds! 🌸💙🐌❤️
Carole, Alik, other admins, and the Dr. w/the hummingbird rescue who consulted w/Carole, thank you for all you did for Em and her clutches, and thank you for this video. I am so grateful to get to see little Clover still being fed by Mom, even tho Clover is out of the nest. What a relief. Thank you!!
I watched Emeralds first clutch this year but not the second. Nature can be so cruel 😢. I am thankful for all that you guys do for these small but mighty birds and I'm glad there was a happy ending 🥰
Thank You for sharing I had no idea until I watched the whole stream that another bird attacked the next,. I am sooo sad. This is the first time I watched a video from the beginning of eggs to the hatching and growing. Life can be soooo cruel. Little Crimson is in hummingbird heaven. May clover have many babies to carry on the hummingbird legacy. Thank You I will continue to watch.
Made me cry, but thank you. Clover is going to grow up to be a tough little bird.
Thank you for this. I have been watching Emerald since mid to late March. It was very exciting to see two new eggs, then to watch Crimson and Clover hatch. Thursday's event was heartbreaking to watch followed by Friday's unsettling events. I'm happy Clover is well and being taken care of by Emerald. RIP Crimson. Thank you to all for making viewing possible.
Bless all of you. My heart still aches. Thanks for putting this together. I will keep my eye out for Kestrals. I had NO IDEA!
Carole and Alik you are wonderful human beings! I have truly enjoyed watching this little hummingbird family. You two are such blessings! Thank you for caring and protecting these precious little birds. So happy to see Clover is doing well! Emerald is such a good mom
Thanks for the video. I was so upset about Crimson, may he/she fly free over the rainbow bridge. Good luck and blessings to Clover and Emerald.
Life is a challenge, a sad but satisfying story knowing one survived

Life is so fragile. Treasuring each God given day. ❤
So sad but that is nature, although heartbreaking! I was so happy that Clover survived & thrived. Thank you for your videos
What a blessed ending to the end of my day… I’m so glad Clover made a Strong Ending to her Future, Despite her tough & Rough Beginning!! PS… Your voice is so soothing to listen to. Maybe you should read to children on audiobooks as well😊❣️
Thanks for the video God bless Emerald and Clover. Rest in peace Crimpson, now fly with God in Heaven .... Carol and Alik, thank you for giving us the privilege of knowing more about the life of hummingbirds
Thank you so much for the update and the photos. I think of Emerald and the little ones every day and still miss them.

Thank you for posting this heartfelt and heartbreaking story. I think of Em and her babies every day. It still hurts , yet I am so grateful for being able have seen Em, Crimson and Clover for all those days. Thank you for all of your work and and caring, and to Alik and all of the Moderators ... Super Heroes all‼️. Soon I will be back watching your videos and Live Cams again. Always will I hold Em and her babies in my heart ❤️ ❤️❤️
My students and I watched these dear babies a couple of minutes a day as our transition. We were also watching two baby eagle eggs. The eagle eggs ended up not hatching. They were so excited about these babies. We spent a whole day learning about hummingbirds in each subject I taught, that day. Last week, we had to focus on state testing review and we did not check in. I came to see how big they were tonight to get ready for tomorrow and came across this sad sad post. I cannot share. I cannot even imagine telling them. When they ask, I will tell them. We have been online all year. They grew quite attached to those two. I could not watch the end. I just decided I do not want to know. Thank you, for sharing these birds and teaching my online students that nature can be found anywhere.

Oh that's such a sad thing to go through. I know how attached we get to our feather babies. I'm so sorry.
Thank you so much for the update!!! Happy that Clover made it!! So wonderful to hear 🥰🥰🥰 Good Luck with everything, little one!💖
Thank you so much for this update video. Knowing that Clover is doing well has made my day!
Thank you for sharing. So happy for Clover!
Very precious. Thank you for the stream.
Thank you so much for putting this incredible video of life and hope together. I think that I can safely say for everyone who watched Emerald and her babies, that we are all grateful for you and Alik and the Mods who care so much for these Hummingbirds and for capturing many miracles that happened that resulted in Clover's life being saved. Somehow I think that the other female Allen's Hummingbird was one of Emerald prior babies and was trying to instinctively warn her sibling, Clover of danger nearby. That may be a stretch; but, not any more than the absolute wonder of everything that happened to this Hummingbird family, and the happy ending for Emerald and Clover!
I was so worried about the hummingbird babies that I even tried Tweeting (pardon the pun!) in my efforts to discover any updates. I watched the first hatching and felt to privileged to witness the birds leaving the nest. It’s the highlight of my lockdown here in Scotland via the WebcamTaxi link. So relieved that I clicked on the KZread version and scrolled back through the chats on this hummingbird link. Thank you for posting this video. It is greatly appreciated, as is your care and feeding of these magical birds. Take care. Fiona from Scotland
Thank you so much for the update Carole. Everything you do is truly amazing. Thank you too Alik...you are amazing as well.❤️
thank you so much for this update. i was very emotionally invested i watched the last clutch and this one and this breaks my heart. but thats nature
When I found Hummingbird Spot (maybe 2 months ago or so) it was about 3 days before Ruby and then Sapphire fledged. I have never seen anything so precious before! I was so excited to see Crimson and Clover from the beginning (before they even hatched). I was planning on watching the entire progress to flying. It truly brought me joy! When I saw a bird swoop down really close to the nest about a week or so ago, I freaked out! When I asked questions on the live chat about that occurrence, no one seem to worry. It was like they didn't want me to talk about it! This is all new to me. I thought where the nest is the babies would be safe. But, the day Crimson was killed I thank God I wasn't watching that day until hours after the attack. Since I found out what happened I haven't been able to watch. I AM TERRIFIED THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I've been wanting to check on Clover and Emerald but I am so afraid Clover will be next. I couldn't watch this video because I just know I will breakdown again. But, I wanted the people involved with Hummingbird Spot to know you gave me such happiness for a while. I can't watch the other channel with Bella either...just so afraid I will see something horrible. This channel is wonderful for people that can handle the cruelty that sometimes happens in nature. I'm not one of those people, obviously. I prayed everyday that the Lord would protect Emerald and her babies. Even though it didn't help Crimson, I will still pray for Emerald and baby Clover. Thank you Hummingbird Spot for bringing me joy for a little while. Good luck to the channel and to Emerald and Clover. I truly love those birds!
Thank You Carole for posting this video. While it is a very hard reality that Crimson was lost to us, I'm so glad you were able to certain the whereabouts of Clover and that Emerald is feeding and teaching her the ways of the world.
Thank you, Carole for all that you do to bring hummingbird videos to so many people and thanks to Alik for his loving and tender care.
Thanks for looking out for them. Live well Clover, RIP Crimson.
Thank you for sharing this, Carol. I admire for all the effort you've done. I want to see Emerald again in your channel.Thank you!
Thank you for the update on the nestlings. Requiescat in pace...
Thank you for closure - look forward to her next clutch hopefully ❣️
Thank you for the video. Glad to hear that Clover and her mama are doing well ♥
Thank you for posting this for us. Thanks to Carole, Alik, & Beth. I know these feeds are nature, & that nature has moments of wonder and moments of sadness. I am so excited to see that Clover moved out independently! I had seen the posts that Alik was keeping the kestrel away & Clover was going to be taken to Ventura Hummingbird Rescue but I missed the actual video of the flight. 3 cheers!
So glad for this update, was so sad to see the live feed gone and worried for sweet little clover. Thank you for letting us know that she and Emerald are doing well!
Thank you so much Carole....I'm in happy tears...so glad for Mommie Emmie and baby Clover. Thank you for making this video. Rest in peace Crimson.
Oh wow...So sad, but a happy ending. Thank you for putting this together. Thanks to Alik for everything too.
What a bitter sweet story THANK YOU SO MUCH for this update especially with pictures 💚💚💚
I’m so sorry to hear of this tragic outcome but I appreciate you sharing with us. Hopefully Clover will have a long healthy life.
Thank you so much for compiling this video! It makes my heart smile to see pictures of Emerald and Clover ☘️ together! Well done Carole and thank you Alik for all you have done to help enlighten us about beautiful hummingbirds!! 👍💕
Thank you so much for showing and telling the entire story. It was a sad and happy story but I was glad to see it all and get the closure I personally needed. Your photos in the end are just gorgeous. Thank you Alik!
Rest in peace, beautiful.
Carole, Thank you so much for this! So glad Clover and Emerald are doing well. Those pictures of them are the perfect ending!
