This is phenomenally well done, Joe - from beginning to end, I was captivated. I 'm sure I appreciated it even more, having had a very similar experience following a barred owl family with my adult son for the last two months. We both share a passion for wildlife photography, and were fortunate to become aware of a nest relatively close by. While we didn't cover one hundred straight days, we must have done at least fifty. It is such a privilege to be able to wait anxiously for the eggs to hatch and then count down the days until we can finally spot the first owlet. We witness the branching, the real or feared falls, the closeness of the siblings, their increasing independence, slowly but surely, and perhaps most important of all, the incredible loving care and dedication of the parents as they truly give their offspring roots and wings. You told your story so artfully. Thank you.

I used to work at MES and just learned about The Barred Owl documentary. I enjoyed the video very much and appreciated learning about your other talents. The the summer before I moved from East Hampton a Barred Owl family came to visit my home. Every evening around 6 three owls would hunt our field. I assumed it was two parents and a young owl. Once while taking a picture of one of the owls it flew and landed about 3 feet from me and we just checked each other out. I had never been that close to a wild owl before. Another evening I was watering the garden and an owl landed by me, not at all disturbed by the water spray. I learned later that owls like people. I considered the visits as the wildlife saying good-bye before my move to Maryland where I no longer live in the woods. So, thank you for your hard work because it brought back a wonderful memory.

Last time then I saw time they where two together unfurtunatly I think than the little last one didint make it beacause when mom stop feeding them the last one was still not abke to hunt by is hunt. After so much time spend with them this is like the end of a story, they are like my family now and Im so glad Ive been able to spend all this time with them! What a wonderful film! We live in East Hampton, and had Barred Owls nesting near us last year. It was amazing to hear the "hiss" for the very first time- I had to go on the internet to identify what it was. Funny, as I type this a Blue Jay is squawking outside my window. It must know I'm talking about the owls. It was amazing what you had caught on film- and I loved how you were able to assemble the footage in a way that had a great narrative as well.

Wow, I am so impressed with this one on many levels. The amount of time in the field, culling footage and photos, and editing this project is immense. This is what wildlife photography is all about, going deep and making a connection. Great dedication. I have got to observe a barred owl nest as well, and then I realized recently I must have had one in my back woods as I started hearing that hissing about a month ago. Sure enough I have at least two owlets. You got some great sequences, like the owl falling out. Glad the feathers weren't one of you owlets! How perfect, to get all 4 together on your last day, day 100. I enjoyed the photos at the end too. Well done! I will watch this again with my daughters.

John, I can't thank you enough for watching and taking the time to write such an amazing comment. This was the first time I did anything like this so I had no idea where to start, but eventually the pieces started coming together. I'm glad you reached out so I could find your channel. I'm excited to see your stories and episodes. I'm definitely going to check them out and learn from you. I see you are in New England too! I'm going to Maine July 21-25....not sure what I'm going to find, maybe some seals, the classic Portland Lighthouse (I have yet to see) and hopefully some wildlife surprises. I'm doing one of the puffin cruises too. If you have any suggestions around the Portalnd, Kennebunkport area that you know, let me know. Thanks again and keep up the great work! PS = Hope your daughters find it entertaining as well!

I will rewatch this forever! I've had a pair nest here in Voluntown for years. In July, the young sit along my pasture hiss-calling for weeks, practicing hunting skills. This year's clutch of 3 is still here, but more quiet. They are finally feeding themselves. Your film was a joy to watch.

❤❤Joe: this was an exemplary documentary. Very heartwarming. Excellent videography & photos. I was born & raised in CT for 25 years. Been hiking since age 11. I am familiar with the area. Worked on Hartford. Moved to Sacramento, CA in 81. There were 2 Great Horned Owl mates I followed for years that came to a Eucalyptus tree every fall down the river. Last storm, the limbs of the tree broke off where they perched & they left. I used to love hearing them "talk"/hoot to each other. I love owls. Very fascinating. Thank you for this excellent experience in your life that we are so privileged to see. Music went very well with it. This is worthy of some recognition for you!°❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😮😮😮😮😮😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
