Trump let Biden dictate how the debate would go. What side of the stage he could be on which he picked the right so you couldn’t see his earpiece. He also didn’t want an audience because they confuse him. And we were told there was to be no papers yet he had papers to read from.

During the debate they found out that Biden can't repeat what he hears in his earpiece but he can read from the teleprompter as the interview just after the debate proved. He was reading off of two different screens letting him move his head a bit so he looks less like an automation.
