Another great Ray Charles they did a good cover of is "I Believe to my Soul" with the Blackberries backing. Ray Charles was Steve's favorite singer. The jewel in the crown though is a recording of "Drown in my own Tears", which was "lost" for 30 years then found. I have it on a couple of compilations albums. It is sooo beautiful, it gives goosebumps. This song was played at Steve's funeral as it was his favorite song. The other song played was Small Faces "All or Nothing", Steve's own masterpiece.

The Rolling Stones around this time were also known for this type of recording. You can hear it in their albums studio video footage if it still exists where amps, keys and drums all had actual microphones in front of them and every so often you can hear Mick Jagger in the background off his own mic doing his thing. I am with you and think THIS is how a band should be recorded, this is where there real talent comes thru when they are feeding off each other in one room.

New subscriber today. Thank you for all the Humble Pie. Lots of good recommendations below and on the other videos you did. Sounds like Steve Marriott is your kind of man. Multi talented and notorious for his short attention span, he was constantly changing his voice and style. Please don't limit yourself to his popular, hard rocking arena shouters, though they are good. Steve is acknowledged by his peers as having one of the greatest voices in rock. Personally I love him best in Small Faces. His voice is so soulful and pure it gives me goosebumps, then he sing lots of whimsical Cockney send ups that are sure to make you smile, plus beautiful love songs mostly for the love of his life, wife Jenny. He is my favorite soul/blues/rock singer of all . Keep up the good work, I will certainly be watching with pleasure.

The reason modern rock does not have the rock'n'roll vibe is because there is too much emphasis on perfection. Back at in the 70's, it was all about the vibe... artists back then did not let perfect timing or perfect reproduction of notes get in the way of soul.

So I implore you to listen to Frampton Comes Alive album from 1977 “Do You Feel Like I Do”. There have been a few reactions to this. And then listen to anything from Humble Pie Live at the Fillmore from 1971. Peter Frampton was still with Humble Pie on this recording and you can here his style mixed with what you know as Humble Pie. Peter actually started Humble Pie when he was like 18 years old. He added Steve Marriott on vocals( the one your familiar with) But Steve was such a presence Peter felt his band was being stolen from him so he left and went solo and then had the biggest selling album of all time in 1977. And a live album at that.

Steve had a studio built at his home and did a lot of recording and production himself. Unfortunately, a couple of the lesser known albums fell victim to poor sound quality. That along with some poor management and extreme vices contributed to the demise of the band.

How about you react to one of my videos? Is there any chance of that? I would really appreciate and open and honest opinion about my music/videos.
