I think it was playing on the TV while he hopped past it at 2:29...

This was obviously a tribute to the great Bobby Van who performed a very similar number in 1954's "Take Me to Broadway". The only difference is that Bobby's hopping dance was much more strenuous and it took so much out of his spine that it required 6 months for him to fully recover.

This man just hopped for four minutes straight, I have never been so happy in my life to see hugh Jackman hop😂

Check out minute 3:31. Is this the first time Keala Settle and Hugh Jackman cross paths? Foreshadowing the Greatest Showman for them?? Ironic that it is when Keala is in Les Mis - a show Hugh performed in (the film version) a couple years prior. Fun find!

people can say what they want about this opening, but I'm partial to it, it was my first ever Tony Awards that I watched, I like the 2013 one but it doesn't have the same kind of feeling attached to it as this one
