I would have put the shelves on the wall above the desk and put the acrylic board on the end wall where I could reach it to make notes or add samples. I definitely like the second rug the best with those colors.

When you put down the first rug, I thought “how pretty, wish it was slightly bigger.” You put down the 2nd, and I thought “GORGEOUS, that’s the one!”
Poor Chico! You shouldn’t call him out!!! You need merch. that reads, “Chico, I need You! “ 😀😀
I gasped when I saw that chair. It looks so uncomfortable. I was so glad when I heard her other chair will actually be there and that one is extra. Also, personally I would have put the acrylic on the wall to the right. I’d get frustrated if I had to keep standing up to jot down a note, otherwise it’s a neat idea. Love the wall and the larger rug

Such a small space and you were able to make it functional! Blessed and safe days!
As much as I like the Alex cabinet separating the space from the other room, I also find that it reduces lighting in the nook. I think a floor lamp or a table lamp to the right of the room would be needed in order to light her face during the many video calls she will need to do. Perhaps if the shelf had been above her desk, a lighting solution there could have helped with that. It’s definitely a tricky space!

Glad it wasn’t just me. Ruby isn’t that tall so reaching across the desk over the top of the monitor seems awkward at best and maybe straining.
I would put two shelves above the desk where I couldn't bang my head on them. I also would have put the dry erase board on the end wall, at a height that would be easy for me to jot down notes while seated. Like the accent wall color, desk and cabinet. I would definitely choose the larger, darker rug.

@@walle5667 some low light tolerant plants might survive in there (not sure the amount of light), but definitely not the ones she chose. I hate faux plants though, that's just a lot of unnecessary plastic. Just because we translate "fake" into the French "faux" doesn't make it chic. Using dried plants like eucalyptus or olive branches or even pampas grass is another way to bring plants to a dark corner.

I love these tiny nook makeovers. Also, the space looks great, but your lipstick is EVERYTHING. 💄
Love the rug you chose. Love the staggered shelves. Love the taller storage on the outside. Love the desk and chair and how the accent color looks with her logo. Always love the plants. Great job.
Beautiful tranformation but I agree with others when they said the acrylic board would probably work better on the end wall and a little lower. I'm 5'9" with long arms and there's no way I could reach that comfortably with the computer screen and desk in front of it. Other than that I love the rug and the paint color and the plants. You did a great job.
I love this. And I love how much your styling range has grown!. I love the second rug and I'm so glad you kept the original chair, my back started hurting looking at the bonus chair..i think that should be your next challenge especially for this series.. Finding ergonomic office chairs that are also stylish!
@delirium129
3 жыл бұрын
Yes! I thought the same about the chair. I feel like in this kind of videos (not Alexandra's per se but other makeovers I've seen), many people overlook the tremendous importance of a good office chair and sacrifice comfort and durability for style. I love your suggestion for Alexandra to tackle that challenge!
I don’t think it’s a knock against Alexandra’s talent to say that if feels like so much of these makeovers are tidying and organizing.
I love that first rug! And the corner shelves really does make it feel like a bigger space. Love that.
I also think the acrylic board should have been under the shelf to her right where it would be more accessible and I would also have put a task lamp on the right corner of her desk and a nice piece of artwork above her monitor so she could have a relaxing visual piece to look at for a break and also so it would/could have been seen from the living room. I do love the accent wall color and the desk and chair. The second rug was the right choice in my opinion as well.
Wow you hurt my feelings have 3 of them lights in my house 😂 but you’re right I’m change them out now
I really love it :-) but does the pendant light give her enough light on her keyboard? Maybe there could have been a cute table light as well? 💡
I like the 2nd rug 👍🏼. Nice transformation, hope her business prospers.✌🏼
This is quickly turning into one of my favourite makeover series on internet. Love!
I screamed "nooooo" when I thought you got rid of her great chair with the gold hardware! LOL! This one was especially perfect for the client, AG. Good job.
I like the furnitures but yeah I agree, she shouldn't have done the L shelf... Better to put 2 rows of shelves on the side wall only and kept the back wall bare.... it looks cramped and the acrylic should've on the back wall and can also be used as a board while she's teaching so a lighter accent colour would've been nicer too like sky blue or sage~
I’ve been watching all your video’s again today!! We’ve been thinking on make over my grandmothers house on a budget so your tips are the best way to start en inspire us 🤩
It doesn’t look like you have created enough storage for her stuff
Well done. Nice Zen vibe in that office with the gray/white/black. Love the acrylic board. I think I'll be getting one of those. I vote for the second rug, but if I were choosing I might look for strong diagonal lines to visually enlarge the space. But that's a minor quibble and not strictly necessary.
I personally would have maybe utilised the back wall to build in a wall to wall desk and overhead wall to wall shelves and maybe even add the filing cabinets instead of actual legs on both sides for extra storage? And bc her business involves cloth samples, maybe a clothing rack would’ve come in handy as well?
second rug for sure! it ties in with the wall too!
I love it. You are so talented in what you do. It would be so great if you could make a tutorial about how to change a light. I would love to change mine but I’m afraid to do it.
The second rug is the best. Another great room.
Hi Alexandra! I been working from home for 5 years now and from experience a drawer in the desk is needed. The other thing i will have done differently is to install multiple shelves in the narrow wall only. Love the color of the accent wall and the lamp is beautiful. 😉

I want a nook!!! Really beautiful. I'm getting lots of ideas for my studio apartment watching all the different episodes💖😁
Awesome new space! I really like your red lipstick but LOVE the pink you have on in this video!!

I love what you did with the space, but where did you put all of that stuff? There's no way all that fit in the upright drawers. And where did her Cricket machine end up? I love the second rug and I'm so glad that's the one you chose!
Excellent makeover ! I think putting the arcylic board on the right side wall would be more functional. What do you think?
Love the color of the accent wall! And that storage tower. What a huge transformation in such a tiny place. Great job Alexandra!!👏🏻
The second rug was the best.
"ZZZZ" at the beginning made me crack up. Good job Carla!
OMG!! I know where exactly this condo is for the first second I saw the den. I bought a unit in this building with the same layout including this tiny den😂 This video is super inspiring. I wish I watched this video earlier!
The 2nd rug was the best choice, for sure. Love your channel. I'm Cuban and I live in Beijing, so happy to tell you your ideas reach out people all over the world 🥰.
The second rug is better.😊
Love it! Though worried she may bang her head on the shelves when getting up from the chair. The shelves are also too high to be showing in her zoom calls. Opposite wall would have worked better IMO.
Love all your designs! When you do such a dark nook though, try to use low light plants. That string of dolphins is gonna die in no time.

@ElyOakland

@@ih4630 But faux plants are not as pretty and basically just plastic waste...all the nice effects of real plants are gone if you swap them with faux ones :( In my opinion, plants are such a beautiful way to get a bit of nature into your room and artificial plants are basically the opposite of that haha I get what you mean though, moving them all the time would really be annoying
@JeddieMPB
3 жыл бұрын
@@makemyspacework yeah but moving them back and forth like that can shock the plant and cause it to die, not to mention the fact that it would be annoying to have to do. there are so many pretty low light plants that could have been used instead
For everyone saying the shelves are a hazard for her hitting her head... check out 12:21 to see that the client is much shorter than the shelves. Literally not even an issue.
@ArtByDesign80

While the client is the primary user of the space...but other people may use or be in the space (alone or with her). A friend my need to use the computer...she may want/need someone to come over to see what she is working who would stand behind her, or someone needs to share the monitor for a zoom call etc In general I think it is awkward to have part of the main walking space to be under a shelf (regardless if is 2-3 inch clearance). Even if there is technically enough space some people could feel claustrophobic.
What a great transformation. It looks so much bigger than before. I would have chosen the 2nd rug, too; the colors go better and the size was right. Great job! Blessings all!!!!
Your girl loves an Alex drawer unit! 💕
Even I like the second rug more! Your styling scene is amazing Alexandra! I eagerly wait for yours makeovers!
The larger rug is best. Love the dark grey wall that matches the logo colour. The l shaped shelf is a good idea but doesnt work in the space, as others have said, the space is too small for this shelf and you could bump your head. I would put it over the desk and the work board to the side a bit, not directly behind the computer. I live in a small space and this kind of nook is a tough one to do without living there.
What a wonderful person the recipient is, such a giving person ❤️ And wonderful that you were able to give to her. I loved the dark moody wall, loved the second carpet choice, shelves look great. Don’t be too hard on Xico for being late - he is such a hero in every one of your makeovers 😃 Stay sage and best wishes from Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Alexandria, psych papers have shown plants make us happy which makes us more productive! Biophilia is the human desire to be around nature - it led to the creation of Biophilic Design. Having plants in a workspace is great!!
The shelves were a win!!!! Sara Nena DIY
Love the darker rug!
i think dulux oxford-blue would have been gorgeous on the wall. The grey is so dull
2nd rug was the right choice!
You could have done a floor to sealing storage on the back wall. Ikea has a ton of different closet and bookshelf frames. Now the space feels super cramped and awkward and she still doesn't have much storage in it.
These small nook makeovers have been so incredibly helpful and inspirational! Just finishing up making over a space in my tiny living room for a hidden office (think: desk that I can turn against the wall when not in use to hide the office stuff while still giving me room for hobby work). If I was to start a business, I would start a consulting business helping other write manuals for their business, or helping them write things like product disclaimers. That kind of writing is fun for me, and it's been fun to help my other friends start their own small businesses!
I am OBSESSED with that minimalist arc faux planter on the desk 😍. Such a small detail but makes a great impact.
You made it a sophisticated warm office space, well done. I am happy she's small, my kids would have constantly bumped their head against the shelves. The second carpet had the accent wall colours in it and tied the place together. Love it.
Love this channel, I love how you slightly rearrange things, and bring in just enough new life to make space work....without breaking bank.
This makes me want to start my business so I could have a space like this 😂 I'd love to start a stationary business. You did a great job with this space! I love this series. Also, I agree I would have chosen the 2nd rug!
Amazing makeover! Good luck Ruby on all your endeavors!
I like the second rug better. I like the colors better and it appears to have more of the charcoal grey tone from the accent wall. I also like the cabinet. The position of the cabinet helps define the office space from the living room.
You should do a surprise makeover for Chico! either on this channel or on your main :)
loved the second rug also...made the wall colour pop even more..
I love BOTH rugs (&, incidentally, YOUR pedestal bowl that is no longer white but now LAVENDAR...SO MUCH BETTER!) and you really couldn’t go wrong with either one but I do like your rationale for filling the space out. The new desk feels spacious and expansive, the new tower o’ drawers gives her room to soar. So great! I’m a little concerned that the dark grey background will not be much contrast to her black hair on Zoom calls but now I see her logo is that color so she will just have to get some great lighting for video. I wish there were some more colorful touches of her sample fabrics, vision board pics, inspirational images of everyday heroes, etc. but she can add all that. I know her products and the people she is serving will bring most of the color and pattern. So excited for them!
I love the light in this one
