I started putting everglades tomatoes in a bag in the freezer every day. When the bag gets full, I put them in the dehydrator and make tomato raisins to toss in salads, etc. Yummy!!

Oh I never thought about that. We eat most of them but that’s a really good idea.

FYI - cut the small tomatoes in half and dehydrate then you have sundried tomatoes for the rest of the year.

Well done. Definitely a drought this year. Eastern Polk Co (FL) here so dry as a bone. Hopefully my shallow well I used for watering holds up.

G'mornin my fave Florida gardener! 2 questions: would you be willing to share the recipes for pickling peppers and this bean- pepper salad awesomeness? Also, when doing the harvest videos, would you consider noting when you planted the items you're harvesting? Im following along and eager for my year 3 FL garden to 'grow up' like yours!

I purchased your garden planner and I have a question …. For each month it shows what can be growing that month, is that a full plant, or when I should start seeds?

Jacqueline as far as our garden grows the only thing we have been able to harvest so far is lettuce which has bolted but it is still good I'm thinking either Cucumber or Zucchini will be next. We have sweet cherry 100 tomatoes growing this year and this is our first time growing them.

Her planner is AMAZING for all FL zones. I highly recommend! I'm central, w.coast FL, planted "summer vegs" transplants and direct sow in ground Feb 14. (Seeds started Dec 25.) We repeat end of July/Aug -harvest Oct-Dec ish

With as dry as it’s been, I was just thinking, shoot, I wish I would’ve planted tomatoes this year! Usually…we fight with blight when it’s too wet, so this year would’ve been ideal. The dryness also brings me to another observation that St Pete had better uphold its laws NOT to allow aerial fireworks this year (or any year going forward, but especially since it’s so dry this year). They’ve been letting far too much slide and it’s so aggravating. Turning a blind eye to lawlessness and recklessness and putting us through severe trauma. The air around me was completely hazed from fireworks over the 1st. Pretty crazy for a city that requires permits and restated in 2021 that aerial fireworks ARE NOT legal here and to consider neighbors, pets, animals, etc. People do not consider any of those things. They just force people and animals to feel like they’re in a war zone until 2 am and any random day/night throughout the year too, putting homes/structures/fences at risk in the process. The plastic debris everywhere is another frustrating thing.

YESSS! I remember that after the new year. It was SOOOOO Hazy. We met up with another family at the play ground because Ben and I don't stay up for New Year's. And we all commented on how hazy it was... even though they live a mile away from us and we were at a park 3 miles away. Absolutely crazy how much stuff was shot up.

LOL! Yes! That compost bucket (I snagged from Target) with the peppers in it is great and I bought 4 of them. But 3 were in the fridge full of peppers and tomatoes already! So every mixing bowl needed to be used. LOL

Loved this harvest video, although I have a bad case of garden envy! I'm in 10A too, but with the crazy heat, my tomatoes have given up, just pulled up all the last of the sad kale. Bugs have eaten the beans, also cucumbers and seminole pumpkin leaves right to the ground. Just a few little peppers and 1 eggplant left to look forward to. My only consolation is my 2 mango trees are full and a there are a few limes on my little lime tree. Seems like I'm in a constant battle with birds, bugs, and bunnies. I appreciated your comment about planting abundance for wildlife, maybe it would help to adjust my attitude!

Its the layers! For years people thought my garden wasn't that big and now that we have the layers, it looks A LOT bigger on camera. The front veggie garden is 20' x 20' and the backyard veggie garden is about 20'x18' and the entire front yard is less than 1/10 acre. So depending on which way you look at it, it is 1/10 or less. AAAND Thank you! :D

What a fantastic harvest Jacqueline. Holy cow. I want to get to that! It is so strange that as I was looking at my banana plant, I saw shoots and wondered if they needed to go or not. You gave an excellent explanation on the banana plant. Now I know what I have going on. Mine is about 18 months old.

how good is adding summer crop than just adding more manure? my spring/summer veggies arent looking great. my peppers even though im adding calcium potassium mix everyweek theyre still getting bottom end rot and theyre too small. direct sun. i always seem to be always late for most of the spring crops. i dont have most of the thing youre still been able to harvest now. do you clean up "kill off" every summer crop for fall? tomatoes and the peppers? or you let them be for the rest of the fall ? :(. sorry for complaining i just feel tired lol. what i did THO is bought some sweet potato with potato taste like you mentioned in another video from baker creek. hope they taste awesome :D theyre korean
