HUGE ROSY BOA! (Breeding Project Update!)

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Update on some of our Rosy Boa breeding projects. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE BABIES ANY DAY!!! So, So, So, excited. We are checking on three of the Rosies. Plus showing you which ones are the dads. Just check out how much bigger the back half of them is versus the rest of the body. It gives a good idea of how big they are.

Awesome. The Whitewaters are so nice. The actual Whitewater area is very interesting; there are an astonishing number of different species of snake in that canyon. It is a blending spot for desert species and foothill species. Much of it is a preserve now and closed to night-driving after decades of herpers road cruising there. The normal-colored rosy boas there are often very attractive and are definitely unique.

Interesting! Do you think they closed the road to night driving directly because of the herpers? I wonder if it started damaging the rosy's numbers, if there were that many people herping there. Awesome information! Thanks for sharing!

There has been a concerted effort by California to preserve sensitive areas of the desert and transition areas in that region. Whitewater was an obvious choice. Because the canyon road is just a mere sliver of area compared to surrounding hills where the rosy boas exist, I really don't think herpers did much damage to populations in general. Another area that is fairly recently a beautiful preserve is at the end of Pipes Canyon Road, another once popular rosy locality "Pioneertown".

I love Pioneertown rosys! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of what's happening to these areas. I want to see these places so badly so it would be nice if they were still there by that time. Go conservation!!!

I think this is an amazing project. I have always thought about getting into Rosy boas, but they are uncommon in the pet trade of Oregon.

She is a coastal het Whitewater Albino. Her mom was said to be a Dome Rock locale and her dad was a Whitewater Albino.

This is definitely not unusual. This can unfortunately be due to many different things. Can you give me your exact temps (hot spot and ambient), humidity level, substrate, size of enclosure, and tank or rack? We can start here and begin eliminating possibilities as to why the baby isn't eating. Because there is actually even more reasons why they can stop eating.

@renegaderebel2223 I'd get a hydrometer and put it directly into the tank. It's the air it's breathing that needs to be the correct humidity. Chances are that if the air outside the tank is humid, the air inside is as well. It's worth a check.
