I don’t know how I found your channel because I’m a 30 y/o woman who has never been fishing before. However, your content has proven to be something inconsistently enjoy and find myself inspired by. I can’t wait til I can take trips like this and try fishing in such a beautiful environment.

I don't go fishing and I've been watching his videos for years. Watch his video when he's making crab cakes 😅 🎉 Or watch his recent eel video. That was very surprising and superbly efficient!

Yeah, I've never gone fishing too but i love this guy's joy when he catches something, and even when he doesn't catch anything his love for nature and the outdoors make me feel good on the inside.. And he seems to be a freaking awesome chef so, ya, that's a 2 for 1 !!!
Wow! Here in San Diego we have wind so not fishing today, having coffee and just watched your sister Mitsuki with a beach cleanup and fishing and then seeing your latest OCL pop up and what a show this is. Taku, Jocelyn, this is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Following your trip has been a joy and to see the both of you work so hard and pull off this fish is just amazing. I can feel and see the passion/emotion in Jocelyn and you after you landed that trout. What a feeling that is and you were able to bring that feeling out on this day. Great job! We wish you all the best. Danny and Kim, San Diego, CA.
I dont know why this man doesnt have millions subs yet. His contents are so damn amazing

Well done bro🎉. Some locals have fished the canals for years and still haven't caught anything. Hats off to you my friend. Love the aotearoa (aka new Zealand) fishing videos. Keep up the good work 👏
Dude you’re living the dream 🙏🎣🎉
Kia Ora Taku, Thankyou for returning the Big boy back, he'll definately help share the fishing love to many more little ones by reproducing great specimens. Enjoy your time here bro, it's a pretty amazing bit of rock 👍🏽
Been loving your NZ fishing adventures, Taku! Hope you keep making these NZ videos!
Nice fish!! And a delicious looking dinner!!

Well done man! Also, NZ is stunning!
Rainbow of a lifetime! That was absolutely incredible. And even with no fish your lunch still looked unreal! 😆 amazing vid Taku!
Congrats Taku, what a nice trout of a lifetime at a place that only one goes in a lifetime. Those Lamb chops looked really good cant lie, can't wait for yoy guys come back California bay area and start kicking out some halibut and rockfish videos. As always best of luck to you guys,
Man’s voice so calming! I need you to narrate my everyday life at home esp when kids having a tantrum.
taku have you ever thought to do a bow hunt and cook? New Zealand is a hunters paradise. it has so many delicious animals to hunt from all over the world. I love bow hunting. it is a pure primal experience. i think you would love to watch the animal get so close before you decide to take its life to sustain your own. it takes a lot of discipline patience and practice to hit your mark with a bow. for me it is always a spiritual experience to take an animal's life and sustain my life from its flesh. wild meat is the best. i have a freezer full of deer meat. i love having the power to decide when and how to take its life to prolong my own. i process my deer myself. I taught myself.
Chur bro glad Aotearoa has "is" living up to your expectations 😊 Even with a friendly reminder- Do the Mahi get the treats 🤙
I've watched your channel for a longtime now. I'm not much of a saltwater guy but I am an avid trout fisherman who fishes in California and you just caught my dream fish,. Love it. If you fish trout, than New Zealand trout fishing is definitly on your dream list of places to catch the biggest trout in your entire life. Well done!
Big rainbows, big browns, big tench and rudd and massive perch. Every American course fishermans dream

Aloha, lamb and Shiraz for me!
I was just fishing there the other day too! Glad that you managed to catch a monster trout! Will be fishing there more often to try and catch a monster trout too.
I’m an old man and from when I was little, I have been taught to set your drag and leave it alone. A properly set drag for your line test will work well.
The canals are on my bucket list. I have a plan to try float/bobber fishing, so was stoked to see you give it a go! I think it could work with some refinement. Glad you got your fish, you deserve it!
That fish was flying in that clear water❤
That was an absolute tank for 6lb line! Congrats! Also cool to see the other stuff on the other channel. Place looks beautiful!
Nice rainbow trout Taku. Your joy of fishing and superb catch got through! Greetings from Finland, on the other side😎🇺🇲🇯🇵🇫🇮👍
Also, big shout-out to the beautiful Jocelyn for sticking with you for all of these years. She's a real trooper!
Congratulations! That feeling is incredible especially after fishing for 4 days! Makes it even sweeter!
Hello Taku, this is such a weird topography / looks not almost unfriendly for fishing...so happy for the fish you landed, a monster!!!, and love your cooking influence always! i wish i was there! Thank you Taku
Well done Taku! Great angling! Not an easy thing to do but I'm not surprised you finally got one. No fun if it's too easy ;)
Massive trout - amazing location
Thanks for sharing your awesome trip with us. Made for great content. Congrats on that epic fish
Beautiful buck! When you get back to the states, hit WI or MI great lakes. Has some good salmon and trout, perhaps catch a sea ferelon brown trout.
The agony of learning how to fish, is not really felt all that much at the time of learning, but it is fun to watch for those who that know how to fish.
HELL YEAH! Been waiting years for you to cook some lamb bro! Thanks!
Mad respect Taku. Your resilience is next level. On to the next fish!
for a minute, I thought it was like the California drought. Somehow you pull through for all of us in California. You save California. You are a hero in the wind.❤❤❤❤❤
NICE fish!!! Well done. Love the cook of the lamb....drooling here!
Congrats! A bit of advice someone that taught me on drift fishing to help you out (egg rolling) Shorten your leader, and have about a two inch gap between your egg and hook. Again congratulations, thanks for sharing!
Good Video Taku and Jocelyn 😊. Keep em comin. Stay Safe 💕 💞 🙏 🙏
No one can doubt your commitment ❤
Awesome!! Grats, Taku!!

Beautiful place. Congrats on the huge rainbow trout. Jocelyn brings you good luck. I think some people call those lamb chops lollichops? Or not?
That was a hog of a Rainbow! Well done, another one to check off the bucket list! Glad Jocelyn was there to help and be the lucky charm! Keep living the dream you two!
Dude can you please make another grilled lobster ramen vid? That was so freaking epic!!
I love how much i learn from your videos. As an avid fisherman and proficient forager you both have taught me so many usual things. Thank you so much
Not too sure what you got done in a tough 4 days of fishing . . . with a Lamb dinner . 😉 Would have loved to see a trout marinated and grilled. Maybe the next time. Great catch. Big 👍 to you for releasing it.
I am so glad, that you let go of that rainbow!! ❤
Taku, I really thought you were going to eat the Trout, but you didn't! You honored the fish and score big Karma points! Cheers, Rik Spector
The tip has so much flavor 😮
Man! My dream fishing place! One day... Maybe one day. But dang! I almost threw up when I saw that skin flap hahah. Awesome fish Taku!!
Beautiful catch 🎣 Taku. Best wishes for the both of you out in New Zealand. Fish-On & Tight Lines 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Well done mate! Awesome to see you were rewarded for the big effort you put in there 👌🏼
🌴 well it looks like you’ve made it , the van is fixed and the next adventure is on , catching rainbows ain’t easy , especially on a fly rod , but I to use to drift salmon eggs that were in fine netting , and used mepp’s spinners on spinning gear , I’d up the line to 8 lb test , so happy for ya on that beautiful rainbow it’s a memory you’ll never forget, and then there was those lamb lollipops my mom use to make em she would use mint vinegar or mint jelly on them 😮oh so good ! Another great vid guys , have fun stay safe , oh and watch out for them dam hobbits 😄👍🏼
Looks so delicious 😋
Don't be afraid to use tighter drag, Amigo. (: Of course I could understand if you were fishing with 2# test and going for a light-line record.
Heading to twizel this long weekend, hopefully get onto some good fish.
Glad you are living the dream, Taku. You deserve it. Even better you share it with your love. The best. You both enjoy and be safe!
New Zealand Chef here. If I can give you advice with cooking lamb, use a unsalted butter with a neutral oil while searing, then cover on a medium to low heat for 5 minutes to start the fat rendering process, then after 5 minutes cook until all sides are caramelised. Obviously in a kitchen an oven will speed this up, but I've found the method I've mentioned works well in a camping environment
Great video Taku! Persistence paid off. Awesome cook on the lamb & the risotto. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome fish Taku love it
that is crazy the rainbow trout in NZ get THAT big and have the bent snout like a salmon does in the US. I know they are in the same family but wow that is cool, i bet they taste amazing too.

That canal he is fishing is the only place in NZ where they get that big because of the salmon farms, the pellets they feed the salmons overflow into the canel. Rest of rivers and lakes here have normal size rainbows.
Congrats on the fish bro! But damn that lamb looks bomb!!!
14:00 man that’s a beautiful shot right there👌
New Zealand is beautiful as hell.
Awesome rainbow Taku with Malosi cap means strong ❤
i love watching all your adventures. my line of choice is Ande 6 lb tournament green mono. i fish the lake erie tributaries for steelhead every year and my PB is a 9.6 lb rainbow trout. there's no better feeling than having that fish on your line and trying to get them in. when you set the hook you gotta relax and take your time. it is worth the wait. the rollercoaster of emotions during the fight is real. it is the best adrenaline rush ever to get them in and in the net. i also released my biggest trout. it feels good to catch the biggest fish of your life and release them and watch them swim away.
Only in Te Waipounamu (South Island) be bless brother, Aoteroa/New Zealand has plenty of Kai moana ❤️🔥
That was epic! Congrats on the monster rainbow
Years ago I went to Roy’s on the Big Island fully expecting to have wonderful seafood and then I saw the Mongolian BBQ rack of lamb and it was incredible.
Great job you worked really hard but it all paid off.
Patience, perseverance and dedication = huge fish :) can't say i would be able to do that if i am honest.
That’s one Monster of a Rainbow Trout!
Dayyuuum now thats a thumbnail if I've ever seen one! Wonder if that's a record fish. On another note thanks for playing that background music without voiceovers, makes it easy to find on shazam and now im compiling new chill playlists.
holy crap, that was the biggest rainbow ive ever seen!
The water is beautiful!
Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard!
We call that walking the dog baby. Take a stroll and watch the bobber go down
