After the successes that were Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad, they knew they had to sub someone in that was critically acclaimed and that would find them the same success they found with those properties and capture that same lightning in a bottle with their future releases. It was either him, or The Rock’s creative team😹 and we both know who was critically successful between those 2 choices.

I kind of prefer the weekly release as well. If I watch a series all at once, I forget everything that happened when the next season comes out. Weekly episodes kind of make you digest each show and I can always remember more of what happened when a new season starts

I’m with you on streaming decision to drop all 10 episodes at once. As a marketing professional this boggles my mind. Maybe drop the first two or three to get people really engrossed and then one a week if you want people coming back. You can sign up for a month and then drop out after just one month. Disney + is crushing it with X-men 97 because of the weekly event and anticipation of the next one

You summed up my opinion on streaming release strategies pretty well. It’s great to binge a show in one go if you got the time for it but if you don’t it’s annoying to chip away at while being unable to engage in the community because you have to avoid spoilers. Watching a show with all its eps out at once feels like a race to get it done fast so you can join in the discussion

my biggest issue with these shows being released all at one time versus regular tv shows being weekly is, amount of episodes...all these cable shows do these 6-10 episode seasons and then you wait a year or more for the next season...On regular TV you typically get 13 for a starting show then up around 22-24 episodess per season..

I think we would have just heard Kevin Conroy's voice in GK but probably not see him beyond maybe a silhouette tbh. Basically an archetype role, since the stand-in for Bruce Wayne (when he was onscreen) looked way too young/different to then look like Kevin Conroy in a flashback later on.

Honestly I hope they make Superman's action scenes as good or better than man of steel that movie by far still has the best action of any movie

Binge watching is like eating a meal when you're starving - it fulfills its purpose, but you can't appreciate the taste of the food, because you're too focus on filling up your empty stomach as quick as you can. Weekly releases are a full course meals when you're just a little hungry. You're able to enjoy the textures, the flavors, the smells and, by the end, you're fully satisfied, not only because you're not hungry anymore, but because you were able to understand how pleasant the act of eating good food can be.

How long are the episodes of Caped Crusader episodes going to be?

There is essentially 4 batman and superman projects this year. Animated. My adventures with superman in May. Batman the caped crusader in August. Live action. The penguin in fall. Superman and lois In the fall.

Weekly releases are a season 2 strategy, if the first season does well.

i depend on boba for all of the DCU news without him i wouldnt even know there was a superman movie being made i would be completely clueless of this masterpiece, thank u boba ur amazing!

Plus you have the added intrigue about peacemaker having killed flag while doing wallers bidding that could add an interesting wrinkle to the team since they all worked for her and did some bad things

I'm glad Conroy didn't play Batman in Gotham Knights. He deserved a better treatment in live action than what he got in Crisis and what Gotham Knights even had the potential to give.

Watched several podcast panels on the suit reveal this weekend - huge thumbs down. 75% negative comments. Gunn's film is in trouble and it's his fault and that of WBD. They should not have released a photo like this if they wanted people to actually be interested in seeing this movie. Superhero/comic book movies are on their way out the door in terms of relevancy right now; this is not the time for WB to half-ass their way into rebooting their DC cinematic universe, yet here we are.

for a show dropping all episodes at once, the discussion on it will only be around for a day or two, and then dead silence.

Weekly releases are good.

All I can say about the caped crusader situation is that that release method is a whole hell of a lot better than a 4 month mid-season break *cough cough* invincible *cough cough*

I personally don’t mind the all at once episode drop. That’s the reason I haven’t watched X-Men ‘97. I’m gonna do a weekly watch of Caped Crusader anyway cuz I don’t have the time to binge it.

Like I somewhat like weekly cause it spreads it out for you to watch cause when it’s released all at once I can’t keep myself from watching it as fast as I can and then you just have such a long wait for the next season

The Gotham Knights Conroy thing would have been like when Birds of Prey (tv series) had a brief recreation of the scene in killing joke where Barbara gets shot by Joker. With Mark Hamill voicing Joker (with someone else playing Joker in shadows and out of focus). It would have been a neat oddity. Maybe the best scene in the whole show. But the rest of the show would still be the shit we got. So it wouldn't make that much difference.

Honestly, I never watch any show weekly, I just watch all episodes when the season is finished. So I'm very happy about this choice. Can't wait for more batman 🦇

Sure doing something weekly makes people talk longer about a show but a lot of the audience is interested more in actually viewing the content and if they dont have to wait weeks then they get to watch it whenever they want whether it be in one shot or not

As far as binging vs weekly. That is something studios have to really pay attention to because to keep it 100, not every show is an 'event' show that would justify a weekly model. There are event shows: Euphoria, White Lotus, House of Dragon, X-Men97, ... those are 'EVEN'T' SHOWS that trend every week and people are talking about them. That's not the same for every show. Some shows are better suited for binging at once and others are better suited for weekly releases. Those are 'creative' decisions based off of how each episodes are formatted. So there's no ultimate choice here, it's really about the way the creatives forms the episodes that determine one way or the other.

Just do a breakdown after each episode? Or every two episodes. Or a first half/last half. Invincible was torn apart for how they divided the episodes. The biggest reason they’re probably doing it this way is because of how little promo it’s had after developmental hell
