I just happened to be going to “the creek” Tuesday for some b day fishing. I was gearing up and happened to stumble across this video the night before. I have never seen such a school of Buffalo at the creek. I used a 7wt with a red scud pattern and a small jig fly with some polar fiber fluff. First time to catch a small mouth Buffalo on the fly. I caught about 5 in the mouth, 1 in the snozz, and several I Fowled. The smaller hook scud was the trick. Can’t thank you enough for sharing. No one was catching trout, but my kids watched me from the bank with the 7wt bent over. Thanks!

I hope you do more carp and buffalo fly fishing, it's great content. I would suggest getting a bigger net for them though, buffalo fins are surprisingly delicate and can get shredded very quickly inside of even a soft rubber net. Though maybe the tighter net won't give them the space to shred themselves thrashing about.

Congratulations on your carp on the fly. That's very difficult to find a place where you can get them. Great job! You're getting much better at the whole fly fishing thing as well. Tying your own flies and catching fish is so rewarding.

Things that can be done on a fly are indeed fun...and sometimes a little crazy!

Awesome video buddy! I know this probably won't be seen, but I'd love to see you take the recurve and hunt some small game! Like squirrels, rabbits, grouse, etc. (not entirely sure what there is in Texas) but with it warming up a little, I feel it would make an awesome video! And pretty good eating

Now you know why fly fishing for carp is amazing. Granted that wasn't a carp... but similar fight! Gotta chase some small mouth in the spring...

I remember your first fly fishing video. You have come a long way! I’ve been fly fishing for trout in central Wisconsin and the Driftless area for 10 years and just recently started fly fishing for salmon and lake run trout and steelhead in SE Wisconsin. The little 15 inch trout just don’t do it for me anymore!

Buffalo are absolutely delicious when cleaned right. You gotta score the back strap and cut off the rib rack. The filet in the rear towards the tail is boneless. Cut out the red meat. They taste just like Bluegill. The ribs are the best part.

Those old Allstars have hearts man! They are absolutely not the best rods but they last forever, I bought 2 from the used dept of hook line and sinker in 2006 I still go to those rods because the fish I have slayed on those! Cost me 50$ for those 2 old rods!

I just caught a 20+ lb buffalo on my bait finesse gear and they are rodeo and a half. Just hook em and hold on. Just like yours every time you think they are done they catch a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wind and keep fighting 😂

There eating just basically catis larva tiny crawfish and simply algae. That is there main forage 👍😄
