I don't think Garchomp is getting powercrept. Its just got too much role competition. I mean, 8 fucking ground types. If it had scale-shot or D-Dance it'd have a sweeper niche. Right now it has nothing unique.

@@UnuUO Just because Salamence has it doesn't change the fact that Roaring Moon has a different stat distribution that gives it a much higher Speed stat than Salamence and a slightly higher Physical one as well. And Dragapult has access to Outrage and Dragon Darts meaning it has good Physical Dragon STAB and I've seen people mostly use it with Terra Dragon more than Ghost

Even in the Generation this super powerful thing is released n, Meowscarada is power crept out. If Meowscarada is "Pathetic", then what the hell does that make the vast majority of the gen 8 and below roster that appears in SV? Note also, that Protean, while still strong, has been nerfed this gen too.

Don't worry it will tear up UU for a couple of days, maybe a week or 2, and then get banned, one of the big reasons it dropped is because of new toy syndrome from all the new Home mons, but it's not bad now by any means

The fact that Garchomp got Spikes in the same gen HSamurott was released is INSANE. No shit Garchomp lost almost all of its usage. Thankfully still has niches.

Greninja from generation 6 has been great in singles with both protean and battle bond, generation 7 has Incineroar for VGC, generation 8 has Cinderace and Rillaboom, and now gen 9 is currently in question.

@@masonkline2644 It has to hit two fire blasts to ko Ferrothorn, which isn’t extremely likely. Also Ferrothorn can terastarllize, set up a leech seed, or even just switch out. So while fire blast/fang would beat base Ferrothorn 1v1, a lot of factors could just screw garchomp over

Jolly Choice Scarf Protean Meowscarada is amazing in OU. It OHKO’s Dragapult with Knock Off and Enamorus-T with Thunder Punch (also deals good damage to Corviknight and Toxapex) and catches many speed boosting Protosynthesis users off guard such as Sandy Shocks, Iron Valiant and Walking Wake. Also U-Turn deals good damage to Roaring Moon and Samurott-Hisui.

The problem is that you're TOO invested in winning the speed tier. It's one thing to have speed control but its another to just be all speed. Most Pults rn run dual screens so it has around a 52% to OHKO it meanwhile most smart players wouldn't play Enam-T in Meow anyways. Thunder-P only kills Corvi and Pex in 3 after Leftovers but again, you'll never see the smart players stay in. Almsot forgot, Corvi OHKOs Meow with BB lmao. Essentially, other mons in the tier stole its job and its not viable in the meta rn.

It's not necessarily that they nerfed mons intentionally, they just made the decision that moves from previous generations won't transfer over. I think it could be interesting personally because as it was before, pokemon move pools just keep getting bigger and bigger as the generations go by. This way movepools could be fresh gen to gen

I mean, it lost scale shot and has to compete against a meta where mons like Valiant, a faster fairy type sweeper, is high in usage. I'm not all that surprised. Honestly, I knew it was coming. Meowscarada and Skeledirge will definitely bounce back into OU. They were the highest usage Pokémon that fell to UU, and with multiple of the Pokémon represented in the usage data now in Ubers, there’s enough room for them to return from their UU sabbatical.

I want to see a fan modded game game where every Pokémons at their peak in battle before being nerfed are playable to see which is the best.

If Garchomp ever falls to UU then I'll say power creep got too far... A bit sad to see Skeriledge fall to UU but at least he can be there with the family

If he ever drops to UU I'll be crazy sure it can get back but if he leaves the tier forever... Tyranitar is going to fall next generation, we have more competent rock types and without tera it will be UU I'm 80% sure

The move descriptions say they have boosted crit rates, but apparently Gamefreak said this was a mistake, and they don't actually have a boosted crit chance. They only have the boost in Legends Arceus.

A lot of this is new toy syndrome, and another part of it is seeing the old toys broken

I think Meowscarada will climb back up after another round of bans. For example, if the council bans either Sneasler or Dire Claw, that would reduce the prevalence of one of Meow’s most common counters. Also, if Smogon bans terastylization, then Meowscarada’s other common checks/counters like Dragonite, Flying Roaring Moon, and the assortment of bulk Tera Fairies will no longer be checks and counters. As for Skeledirge, I think it will stay out of OU unless Volcarona comes back from Ubers. Dirge is the easiest Volc answer in the game as well as being a solid bulky offense/stall mon, but it’s role as a bulky Fire is done better by Heatran and new threats like Ursaluna and Hoopa-Unbound might keep Dirge out of the tier.

Yeah that sucks, but in Doubles, it is an OU mon. Incarnate form is just more of a support Mon than a sweeper/staller. Between it and Murkrow, both have shown that mons that aren't capable in singles, they shine brighter in doubles

I’m sure it’s probably easier with one sound but maybe implement more than one sound for when an object appears on screen. When watching multiple in succession it gets very repetitive when the information and presentation is great.

lando + tusk is just too much for chomp, like if it still had toxic, then it would be prefered, but it cant even rocky helmet stall that well anymore.

I don’t like how Pokémon gets rid of moves that makes them completely viable and unique while also making Pokémon that shouldn’t have certain moves and abilities too overpowered. Should almost all Pokémon have toxic? No. Should all Pokémon have an incredibly wide movepool and stats comparable to legendaries? No. But taking away what made certain Pokémon unique such as Rillaboom’s grassy glide and Weavile’s knock off just seems unfair. Maybe balance the moves power instead of getting rid of what is unique and then adding super op unfair Pokémon to take their place *cough Last Respects *cough Guerrilla Tactics *cough *Good as Gold *cough Zacian

Ok, I’m fine with hearing all of this talk about Pokémon being done dirty by power creep, but can we take a minute to appreciate the gen 5 style sprites for the gen 6+ Pokémon? They look amazing.

Garchomp is, in my opinion, the most emblematic OU pokemon. Generations come and go, but Garchomp is forever.

Pokémon usage depends on how you use them and find strategy that works for them. I see players I battle use the same MS all around that I tend to choose differently. I play double battles only bc I haven’t had the chance or patience to build my single battle team. Honestly, I love using Garchomp & Meowscarada in doubles. I have like 4 or 5 build of Meowscarada with 1-2 different MS. Meowscarada; TT Fire, Lifeorb or FocusSash w/ MS: FT, TB, PR, SP or TP or UT or Acrobatic. Garchomp; TT Fairy, RazorClaw w/ MS: EQ, IH, TB, DM

The difference between singles and doubles are REAL Tornadus getting bleakwind storm was such a massive buff to a pokemon that was already broken in doubles

If Garchomp falls down to UU we gotta start deleting some Pokémon
