HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

So fun story I've been told about when I was somewhere around 3 years old. My grandmothers farm in Indiana had a row of mulberry trees along one of the property lines, and while visiting one year my mother took me with her while picking them. I apparently sat, rolled, and in general absolutely covered myself in mulberry juice to the point that I managed to stain my entire body purple.

That cabinet would have been worth about $22 to 25 K new, some of the plug outlets are in the 100s$. Nice pick up. Mining industry is a massive spender on this stuff, I lived in Karratha and worked in the electrical supply industry, we supplied the big players, RIO and BHP with millions and millions of dollars per year. You should have seen some of the 415 volt cable reels, would have given you a heart attack. One drum I recall was over $200K for 1500 metres, as thick as your wrist. At one stage RIO lost an entire Westinghouse power station, about 50 forty foot shipping containers worth, they found it after 5 years and finally constructed it, it was only worth 8 Million Aust dollars. Pure nuts.

No problems buddy. Then today and tomorrow it’s gonna be hot as balls as the fukn weather just can’t make its bloody mind up🤷🏻‍♂️. At the end of the day I love all the weather we get good or bad especially out on this property but as I am barely getting these videos out on time each week weather can be an absolute pain. I told myself when I finally get into this property I’ll have a big shed and I can set things out properly and get videos lined up and ready to go but that just hasn’t happened yet and I’ve been here almost a year. And then the fact that I put out the longer videos because I want to show everything Will guarantee I won’t get in front by a couple of videos. I’m liking these longer format videos as it’s helping a lot of people and it also definitely helps the watch time and add revenue on the channel. I’m hoping to do a nice long one for Halloween but I need to get my shit together for that and I am hoping to do an extra long one to see the year out. When I say extra long one doesn’t mean extra big one but there will be a lot going on in it if all goes to plan👍🏻😁

How they manage to keep it cold in hardware that’s been decommissioned is one of civilisation’s burning mysteries. Even more remarkable is the bottle opener conveniently built in to the equipment! Those electrical engineers really thought of everything.😂 Keep up the great work mate.👍

I've worked in a factory producing all sorts of industrial brushes. Putting wire brushes into their packages is a dangerous game. You can be careful as heck and yet still the steel threads on these buggers stab you right in your fingers. No level of safety gloves is enough for that. I think I can vaguely imagine the bite of those copper cables.

The kids and I love big bars. The biggest we have been able to pour is a 3.1kg copper one. But I just finished building an anthracite fueled furnace. It should be able to go as high as 15-20kg. But, we have to work our way up first....

Just a little 'life hack' for your mulberry picking: Crushing and rubbing an unripe pinkish/white mulberry on your skin will get rid of the staining from the ripe ones! 😃 Also if you freeze them, spread them out on baking paper on a big tray and freeze. Once they're frozen you can move them to a bag and they won't be stuck together in a big clump 😊

Does removing the second layer of ceramic wool not negatively impact the efficiency of the furnace? Or does painting the inside with the wool coating counter that?

Yes apparently it’s gonna come back fine they say. He went back in again today and they reckon he could have some scarring on his eye but it will disappear overtime but being in the eye they said it could take awhile before it back to 100%. And that’s if all goes well 🤞🏻

Mulberries make a wonderful jelly or jam, if you can get someone to make it for you. I freeze the berries until I can find time to make jelly. It is delightful to watch you disassemble things with such care and delicacy. Always the right tool for the job.

I used to build electrical panels like this, not specifically for mining. Actually it was for the nuclear industry, monitoring and safety. Brought back some memories of my old job as a fresh electronics trade high school graduate haha The Sprecher+Schuh contactors are rated for 100 HP at 460V 3 phase, thats a big pump this box was powering. Those 2 are about 1500-2000$ each new The Grundfoss MP204 box at the bottom is a motor protection module also about 1000$ new The Danfoss MCD 202 motor starter at the top ~800-100$ new This box and pump setup was probably incredibly expensive to buy originally.
