HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

At 23:46 You might want to have those white fibers tested for Asbestos. "Asbestos was commonly added to wire insulation and electric motors to protect against overheating and prevent fires. While the asbestos in these products was generally encased inside, users could be exposed if the products were opened, such as during repairs." Most likely, the insulation is NOT asbestos, unless the motor is a class F or class H motor.

I was thinking it was fiberglass added to strengthen the resin coating on the wire like how you make a boat. Maybe something done due to the extreme weight of the motor for stability. The resin burned off but fiberglass doesn’t melt outside of a furnace so it was left behind.

Now i live in New England area and in the summer when its 90 out, the humidity will be crazy high and just sucks. you walk 10 feet and your dripping sweat and the air is just wet, morning dew never dries up. I would take the dry heat any day.

@@incredible5587 The majority of people don't know what the dew point and wet bulb temperatures are. Dew point is the temperature that when reached as a low, water will condensate. It is dependent on the air temperature and humidity. The wet bulb temperature is the temperature that results on a black bulb that is wet with the sun shining on it. It's the cooling effect temperature reached due to the evaporation of the water on the surface. Dew point gives you an indication about how the temperature and humidity feel like, the wet bulb temperature shows when it gets DEADLY if it's reaching close to your body temperature. Humidity is much more important than the temperature in summer!

Be very cautions of that white insulation fibre in the slots. Older large motors (pre 1999 in UK, not sure of Oz rules) sometimes used asbestos, which can cause serious long-term damage to the lungs.

I like these massive meltdown videos. So much copper is retrieved from it that would have otherwise been wasted. EDIT: And aluminum.

Super cool video. I love watching you work. A cool idea that I'd love to see you try as a project would be to create life-size sculptures of your doggos. Nordic gold would be cool, but even aluminum bronze would be awesome or even just straight copper

Not to sound like a crazy person but I like the bars cooled in water rather than ice, I think You should do both start off with an ice block then move on to the water. The boiling water is mesmerizing to watch.

LOVE IT reminds me of the old grand teft auto. you should: next time you get a big melt like this, make small 200-500g bars. high finish, stamps and sell BigStackD Bars on as merc. i would LOVE to buy a polished bigstackdbar
