Huey Long | "Every man a King"

Музыка

●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩ENGLISH۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●
"Every Man a King" is a song cowritten by Louisiana's Governor and United States Senator Huey Pierce Long Jr. and Castro Carazo. Long was known for his political slogan "Every man a king," which is also the title of his 1933 autobiography and the catch-phrase of his Share Our Wealth proposal during the Great Depression. The song's lyrics include the lines "With castles and clothing and food for all/ All belongs to you". The song was co-written in 1935 by Huey Long and Castro Carazo, the band director of Louisiana State University, a former orchestra leader at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans brought to LSU by Long himself.
●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩LYRICS۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●
Why weep or slumber, America
Land of brave and true
With castles, and clothing, and food for all
All belongs to you!
Every man a king, Every man a King
For you can be a millionaire
But theres something belonging to others
Theres enough for all people to share
When in sunny June, or December too
Or in the winter time or Spring!
There'll be peace without end
Every neighbour a friend
With every man a King!
Theres a million sad hearts in the nation today
Theres a million bowed heads hanging low
For the bravest of all
Had to answer the call
And our own Huey Long, had to go
And with deepest regret
We will never forget
With his might he would right every wrong
Let us all, say a prayer
He's in heaven somewhere
With a sigh we say goodbye Huey Long.

Y’know, if it makes anyone feel better, while we did lose Mr. Long, many of his very same policies were applied to Roosevelt’s later New Deal policies. So, while Huey Long died in Louisiana, you could say the Kingfish still left his mark on the country. And, sure, many New Deal policies have fall apart, as Reaganism has spread through our political system…if the U.S. could rise itself from the tatters of economic ruin once…why couldn’t it do so again?

Well in his "Defense" This rhetoric is more akin to Left-Wing Populism. Socialism is based off the ideal of a "Workers Revolt" a Proletariat majority rising up against a Bourgeoisie minority. The Welfare-State that Long is proposing would actually be contrary to Marx's Vision as he saw such States as a "Bribes" or "Placebos" keeping Workers form ceasing the means of production. Think Supply y Demand; a Socialist Revolution demands disparity, a Welfare-state (theoretically) eliminates a populations supply of disparity. The difference is nonexistence at first glance, however it is a big difference. I dare say it is the same difference that segregates Philanthrocapitalism and Communism. I personally blame the misunderstanding between Left-Wing Populism and Communism on the absolutism of a Two-Party System. Every Feather from the Left-Wing is perceived as whole single MESH called the Democratic Party of America. [DISCLAIMER; I am not a Left-winger nor am I a Populism nor am I a Socialist. I simply wished to take this opportunity to discuss the oversimplification that partisan politics pillions us with a flaw perception and eventual interpretation of the world around us.]

Huey Long certainly is an interesting man to me, maybe some day I'll make a video on him if I were to buy his autobiography and do some proper research. I think that despite his vices, he probably was one of the greatest southern politicians. I respect him not on a basis of kaiserreich larpism or socialism or any ideology, but rather I respect him because he's a unique politician. A unique American Politician who wasn't batshit insane. Huey Long wasn't a leftist. Not even a left wing Populist. He was actually so much "on the right" that he was gonna debate Norman Thomas on one of those Capitalism vs Socialism debates one week after the day he was shot so that debate had to be cancelled. Leftist of the era outright accused Huey Long of trying to minimize the shortcomings of capitalism as opposed to changing or otherwise revolutionizing the system. Many leftists, for example Journalist Raymond Gram Swing claimed that Long wished to "Hitlerize America". In an effort to distance Long from communism, many socialists, such as Norman Thomas, also sought to smear Long as a fascist. So Huey was a right-wing populist or Paternalistic Conservative who glorified income tax and welfare reforms but was not afraid to be conservative socially. In this regard, he is close to Charles de Gaulle, Juan Peron or Konrad Adenauer after all.
