huawei lost everything, there is no point of having a huawei phone when you have no gms, no 5g, you have to use those shitty apps that huawei provides you, petal maps: everything is outdated for like a century, support for global users: is disappointing how they are not just giving us what we wanted, litterally emui 13 skipped 2 generations (P30 (the last model with GMS), P40)(which were really popular) while harmony os 3 is almost in all models

@@ClientSiders p50 pro user for 2 years here. Came with emui 12 out the box in feb 2022 and got emui 13 last summer I think. Security updates are also regular. Every month or two. Have not resorted to installing any google workarounds until now. No gbox and no gspace etc. Have been doing fine without those. The only thing that I can't use because of it is google meets for some work meetings but other than that it has not impacted my day to day and I do my meetings on my office pc anyways. Your milage may vary of course but for most users in europe it's still fine and you can always put gbox if needed.

​@@benjiize Since the middle of 2019 Huawei and Honor phones didn't have GMS. Only 2 years later, when Honor officially was not associated with Huawei, Honor 50 series (that had Qualcom CPUs instead of HiSilicon) could have GMS.

If Google was not banned definitely without a doubt Huawei would have been the No 1 smart phones in the world, as they dominated back in the days when there were no restrictions from Google for 3 consecutive years 2014, 2015, 2016 Tey were No 1 in the world.

I wish Huawei wasn’t banned. The apps I need for work etc all use google. If I didn’t need to use google apps so much I would definitely switch. Urgh frustrating. The mate 50 in black and gold is a FIT phone too.

Watching this on my Mate 20 X. This phone is still the best phone ive ever used. I hope Huawei can make a new version of it. The Mate X3 is pretty sweet too.

So a P40, normal, from 2-3 years back can record 4k@60 on both front/back while this costs 3 times as much and doesn't? And also only EMUi13 / aka Android 12?

I truly hope this become the new standard within 5 years... Foldable phones are such a great idea!

i have first foldable phone samsung many years ago and i use it daily for calling but screen is created me problems i give it to repair 2 times so foldable phone is bad because soon or later start to creating display problems after one year of open and close you will get this problems and this idea is outdated it was famous around 2003/04

We always talk about the gap between when the fold phones are folded, does it occur that the more the screen meets in the middle when folded, the more the crease will be visible on the screen, the curve between the screen in the samsung fold, puts little pressure on the screen when folded.

Watching this on my Huawei Mate 50 Pro without Google services. Not having Google spyware it's actually a good thing. And also a good thing for battery life and cheaper price is not having a 5G modem. 4G it's plenty for watching 4K videos. 5G would mean I have to spend a lot more on my network bills and drain the battery much quicker because 5G loses connection very often which means it would have to switch between antennas all the time. So 4G is cheaper to produce, cheaper for me to pay on phone bills, has better battery life, better coverage. 5G in Europe it's basically a scam or a useless feature at the very least for the next few years.

What about in app purchases?

Inclusion of expandable storage, IR BLASTER, video out is a slap in the face of all the other mfgs who robbed us of it. Bravo, Huawei! This makes it a true smart phone, compatible with the tech all around it. It's the way to go. I've used LG specifically because of this mature logic, including having the audio jack.

It looks really nice, hardware-wise. But... with no Google services, no 5G, and then pricing it a whopping 50% more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Fold 4 (prices will be from eur 2200,- in the EU), this is going to be a very niche folding smartphone

The OS Huawei uses seems more user friendly and capable, feature rich in daily usage, like how you can add apps to the swipe down menu and many others you've shown. I am not sure yet if you mean that the Harmony OS supports Android apk/apps natively, even though Google Play is absent. I can surely do without Google's awful software. For anyone that uses Windows devices this is second nature. I never miss anything Google when I'm on my Windows laptop or tablet.

I'm still using Huawei mate 20x I believe it's the last phone with Google services enabled. I struggle to see any competent phone in the market after this. 7.2 inch, non-foldable. I think my next move would be those fold devices, I'd prefer Huawei but without Google stuff it's hard, I will select Samsung galaxy z fold 5 maybe. Yet again the mate 20x is the best which there were mate 30x 40x 50x

I was able to side load Google but the phone in the USA since it's a 4G only it drops calls to 2G and it drops the calls, bad reception all around.

I owned fold 5, I think X3 is better than Samsung Z fold 5, my palm got digging mark due to Z fold is heavier than X3. the samsung case make the screen wobble on the table while I using it. I had to take out the standing compartment to stop the wobble. X3 have fully round edge which will be more comfortable on hand.

I still buy Huawei and flash stock android 🙂 on a mate 20x right about to buy this here if I like the review

Just writing to check if anybody might know the cons of getting a Huawei phone (without google)? I do understand that find my phone or google map could not work properly. I've also used the P40 Pro, also without google. I realised my notifications for eg. Whatsapp messages & facebook will not ring. And all the drop down notification will comes only when i enter that particular app.

So they basically outdid Samsung barely into their 2nd generation?! I think they're banned because they would run circles around all other smartphone manufacturers😂
