Long-term review of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, six months after launch and following the official reveal of the P30 smartphone family. Should you still consider buying this 6.4-inch super-premium mobile in 2019, or upgrade to something else?
Well, long story short, this is still my favourite handset right now, even if it's not the speediest performer out there and rivals such as Samsung's Galaxy S10 have surpassed it for some camera features. The Mate 20 Pro is a strong all-rounder, boasting Huawei's slick EMUI 9 software, solid gaming performance for the likes of PubG Mobile, and a flexible tri-lens camera that is still brilliant for family and tourist snaps. You get incredible battery life, impressive Super Charge tech and a gorgeous Quad HD+ OLED display, making this one of the best mobiles even in 2019.
In fact, you get sharper visuals, better stereo audio output and that excellent 3D face recognition here, unlike the new P30 Pro. mate 20 Pro still the best looking phone in 2019 no lag battery life unbelievable waiting for the mate 30 Pro after using Samsung s10 plus with punch holes well has a large notch but more barallbell then holes

@@peterdukess9115 agreed. The only problem is the phone keeps dropping in price. I got mine when it was worth £900, I don't think it's worth half that now, so I'll end up selling it for peanuts.

I've got the mate 20 pro since it launched last year. The fingerprint sensor works perfect for me. I never use screen protectors on my phones and I just picked up a few scratches. I don't notice the scratches unless you go looking for it. Overall a great phone..
I upgraded to this a week ago, even though the P30 Pro was due. No regrets as the additional outlay for contract wasn't worth it. I'm more than satisfied with it! Especially in twilight 👌

About to upgrade to the Mate 20 pro tomorrow, from the Mate 9 (2years of use) I don't think I can go wrong with this stunning phone, however the glass back means that a cover will be needed due to scratches,

@@alistergoh9744 wet pingers... Optical scanners struggle with that. I personally don't use fp much, definitely face recognition is a lot better to unlock the phone.
Anyone having issues with the Bluetooth audio controls being too low when connecting earbuds ?

When listening to videos in my mate 20 pro, I don't know if I have a hearing problem or its speakers are really very anemic that I have to use a speaker. Sad. Hope there is an application to augment / increase the loudness of the speakers of my mate 20 pro.
I really liked everything about this phone specially the battery long lasting life & quick recharge but only backlight on screen some times dull & email Gmail apps doesn't work properly
Planning to change my Asus Zenfone 5z 256GB. Would want your advice whether to get a Huawei Mate 20 Pro or the Asus ROG Phone 2? I am not a heavy gamer. Light gaming from time to time. More for media, travel and camera.
It will soon be upgraded to EMUI9.1, new features coming...

Is there still the problem with boe and lg screen?
I traded mine in for the S10 plus. I do prefer the S10. But I will say the mate 20 pro is a very close 2nd. If the mate 30 pro improves again on the mate 20 pro I might be tempted to go over again. Although the screen on the mate isn't quite the marvel on the S10 I still prefer it. I'm not sure if it's the shape or what but it's simply sublime. Hopefully the notch will go or at least be smaller. Speed wise there really is no real day to day difference between S10 and mate 20 pro. I do miss my mate 20 pro.

Olaa!! I've been watching your video's about the huawei series! I really love them. Could you give me some advise, I'm planning to buy the p30 (not the pro version) or the mate 20 pro. I prefer the size of the p30 and the none curved screen, however the huawei mate 20 pro is waterproof. Which one would you prefer? Which camera do you think is better, and does the videostabilization of the p30 is as good as the mate 20 pro? :)

Anybody thinks, that the Pixel camera is overrated? I have the Pixel 3a and the Mate 20 Pro, and the Mate 20 Pro makes a lot better shots. The Pixel does make good shots, but it's unlike anything what the Mate 20Pro produces. People complained about color and stuff in the past, I think Huawei fixed it already, the pictures are amazing. Since the ban is done, Android Q is coming to Mate 20 sometime in the next few months. This phone is just great, my only complaint is the fingerprint reader is keep missing, but the face unlock works great.

Nah.. I think Google is still better. With that in mind, Google doesn't have a telephoto lens nor a wide angle lens.

Seriously considering this phone as my lg v30 is starting to show it’s age. My main concern is the software, is it as bad as people say? Is it really buggy and unreliable as a daily driver? Do all basic functions such as call quality and Bluetooth work properly (this is important to me as I need a reliable bluetooth connection with the car), my lg v30 connects to the car instantly and has a reliable connection.

Yeah, I'm stuck, in in love with p30 pro cameras but it has lower res screen. Faster finger print, no 3d face unlock, it's impossible

@@micahevans6336 yeah, but I am talking about P30 without PRO. P30 pro is overall better than mate 20 Pro but it cost like $200 more. If you don't wany to spend this $200 extra you have to choose between mate 20 Pro nad P30, cause Xiaomi Mi9 is way cheaper but camera is no match to Huawei, and small battery comparing even to previous Xiaomi top models leave Mi9 a little behind. Maybe we need advice which phone is the beat to certain price, like 3 best models to 300$,500$ etc.

The mate 20 Pro is considerably smaller but with a similar size screen. The notes screen is flatter and of course it has the pen. Iv had both. If the notes software was better I'd have kept it. But when I had it it didmt have 1 UI. So I don't know if that improved.thw notes peeformabw2. I found mine was. Jumpy and slightly laggy. This is something you won't experience with the mate 20 pro. It's one of the fastest smoothest phones out there. But you will Lose all the functionality of the a pen. I put a nova launcher on my mate 20 Pro which made it look like stock and peeform like stock. I'd say unless you note is laggy I'd leave it I don't think you'll see much if any of an improvement. Or wait for the mate 30 Pro. That's the one to look for this year.

Oh a d the 3d facial recognition works in the dark, try it! Awesome. The infra red blaster is great wen round ur mates and they're watching channel 66 and u wanna watch film4 😁
No doubt, it was the pioneer of a new smart phone era, features like 40W fast charge etc. Eventough some new features of Mate 20 pro isn't that reliable as the new phone but still, upgrading to EMUI 10 has no problem at all from the hardware that the mate 20 pro had.
Would you say it’s as good as the iPhone X that’s what I have but due up grade was think of the huawei p30 pro

I upgraded to the mate 20 pro a couple weeks ago knowing the p30 pro was coming out in April, have to say I'm not disappointed at all with my decision, looks like this phone will be my best friend for the next couple years! Only downside I have is that it takes ages to upload photos to the Huawei cloud, I have 60gb of photos and it's done 7gb in 3 days, anyone know how to speed this up? Great video by the way, subscribed yesterday 👍👍

Fantastic choice, great phone. I'm not sure tbh but it certainly shouldn't take that long, should have been finished by now. Try the Huawei community they have the answer.

Well I bought it recently of Amazon £ 402.00 new. Great price for the high tech . The thing I don't like and you mentioned it is the finger print scanner . Not good a hit and a miss . Iam amazed at Huawei for not getting this right. It's not perfected probably. Apart from that its s great phone. I like your wallpaper or launcher you are using nice design and colours. Can you tell me the brand ? Anyway thanks for the video and sense of humour always gets me laughing.Cheers👍

I'm on my third replacement for this phone. Seem to always get bizarre software glitches where the phone would freeze. Tempted to go back to iPhone

Is it worth it in 2019?? I only got it in December! Jeeez. I never had to re-register my fingerprints, but I do agree with the screen protector it doesn't always work, usually when I'm working on my car and my hands full of dirt and oil, which is expected though.

Face recognition feature is brilliant on Mate 20 Pro and I think it's the best way to unlock mate 20 pro.
I still have mate 20x with 7.2 inch screen. It's getting slower now but very food for Facebook and KZread

I can pick one up now for around 500 pounds . I have been waiting for the one plus 7 or the new Honor but by the looks of it they will be 700 ish . This makes the mate 20 pro look very attractive what do you think big boy

Good effort. I'm wishing I stuck a protector on mine as I've got a couple of long scratches on there now, although you can't see them with the display on thankfully
Still the best phone beats my mates s10 plus hands down
I have no problem with in screen fingerprint sensor and its facial recognition is at par and maybe better than that of apple... I just complain why it does not have tap to wake option

I would it is just okay not great but OK. there is smth in the software that auto beautify, can't disable it tho
I don't like the huge notch but I do want the 3d face unlock lol. Maybe in the future huawei could solve this problem.

Bro don't overthink.Pixel 3a is just a midrange phone with Snapdragon 670.Mate 20 pro is still a flagship with Kirin 980 which still the flagship processor for Huawei .Blindly go for mate 20 pro..Hope this Helps..

Hi, I noticed something interesting about the camera of this phone. When you zoom through window that has a mesh, the camera filters it out. You should give it a try and see. I was taking a picture of a bird when I realized this. It is quite interesting. I tried the same with the S10 plus, but it did not filter the mesh.
