Huawei P30 Pro | One Year Review | Still good in 2020?

The Huawei P30 Pro is one year old so here's my long-term 2020 review of one of the best flagship smartphones around. Not to mention the brand's last major handset to boast Google services. From the versatile and dependable camera tech to the solid battery life, the Huawei P30 Pro still feels pleasingly fresh. And this mobile can happily cut it with the latest flagships like the Galaxy S20 ad Pixel 4 in many areas, even if some features like the screen refresh rate and general specs have been improved upon elsewhere.
I still rate that camera as one of the best of any Android phone in 2020, thanks to the excellent photo quality in almost any conditions. Plus, that telephoto lens is hard to beat. Huawei's EMUI 10 software is a delight, even if some of the Mate 30 Pro features are missing in action. And battery life is still excellent, easily lasting the day with heavy use.
Of course, the new P40 handsets are just around the corner most likely, which will mean discounts for the P30 Pro if it comes out in the UK. So are you tempted by this blower, or have you been using it for yourself? Give us your own review below!

I'm nearly one year in with the P30 Pro and it still feels like a new phone. I really hope Huawei gets things cleared up with the US so it can get Google services back. I don't want to have to go with anything else when I upgrade.

Lack of knowledge in the tech sector makes people think that no Google means buying a phone with 0 access to Snapchat, KZread etc. A little bit of research would lead one to the app gallery, quick and easy sideloading and information on the fact that huawei is working on its own access to these apps

3 months on my p30 pro. Smooth as silk. Underrated camera especially the night mode. Even i could bought that time the famous note10+, i still prefer p30 pro. The last descendant P series with google services.

Hurmmm actually S20 Ultra has 4x optical periscope zoom. The 10x zoom are hybrid. And yes, P30 Pro is still a relevant flagship choice in 2020. Like most people said here, except SOC, its indeed already year ahead compare to others.

I'm afraid I do not share your glowing feel for it old mate , it certainly does have some redeeming features , camera and battery life, but also some that just make me not want to look at another huawei device . I am glad your happy with your device any way.
Great review. Can't argue with any of your comments. Brilliant optics and battery still not beaten by competition. I have treated myself to a brand new one for £400 as I'm totally in love with it still after 18 months I will be going onto a sim only deal next Month.

Samsung s20 ultra does not have a 10x optical zoom. They claim it's 4x though I would not be surprised to hear if it was actually less. Been using the p30 pro for over a year now, played with the s20 ultra to see if it was a decent upgrade. The P30 Pro still blew it away
I just had my P30 Pro and been using it for one week I am truly impressed and of course it has Google services that I am currently using love this phone❤️

Still using the P30 Pro after almost a year and yeah it's still great. Great battery, incredible camera and still buttery smooth. No lags at all. And EMUI 10 looks so much better!

@@danieltene2048 nope. It's been great. Updates are maybe once every week or two. Apps and Google are all fine. I don't think that ban has affected Australia though.

Watching on my mate 10 pro, just after ordering my upgrade to p30 pro. Can't wait! As mate 10 was such a solid phone! S7 before had crapped out several times before 2yr contract was up, but mate 10 hasn't put a foot wrong. SOLID PHONES
I love my p30 pro it's one of my top 3 all time favourite handsets I've owned second would be my mate 7 ascend and third would be my Nokia n95 8gb black edition.

I bought my P30 Pro last year December 3rd and I can say that its one of the best phone I've ever had! 😉 Previously I owned a Huawei Nova 3i and thought of upgrading to a flagship smartphone. The upgrade that I have are the performance, camera, storage, ram, screen size and many more! My wish to own a Huawei Flagship smartphone came true 😁😁👍

Although I'm using Lite version it is freaking amazing! Battery life lasts whole day with few minutes of resting, charges upto 100% in 50 minutes. Camera is amazing, night mode really does it's job. My recommendation is to buy P30 series ☝️🔥

Till Saturday I had mate 10pro, but on saturday I got p30 pro. I love it. Mate 10pro is still in use after 2,5y,battery good for whole day of light work and playing. I see the difference on p30 pro. It is new phone so I start using both phones and same apps, mate10pro goes to 97% after 10min but p30 still holds 100%. Will see after some time.

Thinking of upgrading to the p30p from my p20p. Feels like huawei need to get more apps in the store before switching to p40 series. And the p30p is on sale for only 360$ with my carrier which is hard to beat.
I use P30 Pro for about 9 months now and I cam say it is the best phone. I really love the phone for all the things you mentioned.
I finally ditched Samsung for the p30 Pro, I went out on a limb and have not regretted it I still love it and won't be going bk to Samsung anytime soon every one had a problem

Been using this phone for more than 20 months and it's still a beast.
Well, my upgrade was from P20 Lite to P30 Pro. There is difference, but still the cheapest P20 Lite is a good phone. P30 Pro had bigger screen, it is a little bit faster, pictures are amazing with AI, battery is holding almost 2 days, supercharging is fantastic, it is heavy, but I can handle better.
Watching this on my p30 Pro, love it, night shots are the best feature imo

Then it depends, do you want the best of the best and a fluid 120hz gaming experience then the s20 or you could wait until one plus 8 or 8 lite comes out, that will be a banging phone

399 is a bit on the expensive side but yes it's great. If you want a better performer I'm gaming and such a realme x2 Pro is a good shout or one plus 7(t)

Go get it, even almost a year on everything still feels snappy and new! You'll find the cameras usefull in most situations ! The battery life easily last a day too. 30mins charging will last you a day. For 400dollars it is great too!

Cheers, I'm still planning on getting one next week, as these days it's quite a bargain for a camera of that caliber and it's what I'm honestly most looking for in a phone right now. Love having a great camera in my pocket at all times

If you really care about having really good camera on your smartphone and doesn't want to spend a lot for 2021 flagship phone, it's still a pretty good buy. The camera still very comparable with 2021 flagship android phone. Even to my eyes at least, it's better than s21 ultra. Especially in indoor with bad lighting.

In my country, the used P30 Pro is quite cheap for about Rp 6 million (£350). Yes, it is incredible infamous Android flagship.
P20 pro user here. No point for me to upgrade to p30 due to being smart on my money management. I will however inclined to upgrade to p40 pro, if its available AND has the same technological momentum like 2019

I love this phone. Bought in May 2019 and honestly, just like you said: feels like new, battery didn't age, cameras are still superior. I'm only kind of annoyed with other, "bigger" tech reviewers on KZread constantly praising Samsung, iPhone and One+ mobile devices. I get it: they're good smartphones like s20 ultra or one plus 8 and iPhone 11 pro max but the prices are horrendous, even one+ flagship is expensive and I can add Huawei p30 pro was one of the most exciting device released in 2019 (if not most exciting of the previous year). Btw emui10 have already many features which will be released in android 11. Charging is incredibly fast (0-100% in 70 minutes) and battery level dropping down slowly. I heard about new super hyper extra ultra fast charging, like full battery in 37 or less minutes but now I can't hear anything. I guess its just BS so far.

P30 pro is a fantastic phone indeed. They were the first to introduce 50x zoom on a phone. It is a stunning phone in terms of specs and outer design. Proud being a p30 pro user. I switched from pixel to p30 pro and to say it is absolutely worth it.
My galaxy note 8 is dying and I was considering this as a replacement... hmmm

Bro I am a p30 pro user man I bought it the first day that it launched in the shops here in Ireland and I must say mate that I am so happy about this phone I can't complain for anything camera is stunning battery lasts forever and it charges in 40 min from 0% to 100% and the most important thinh to me is gaming and this phone crushes every game man is so smooth and fast so if you take my advice go for it man not very expensive and top quality I recommend it 1000000000% believe me you won't regret it,

@@kayeefu979 ive had it from dec 2017. Battery has got worse. Im a heavy user but id say i get about 3 hours on screen time tops. Plus now it wont charge via cable. Samsung support has a short life span as well so wont get another. P30 is about £400 so maybe tempted ovee the pro. Off to rome end of april and will change before then

Been using my p30 pro for almost 8 month now, the phone performance is still like a brand new phone, & the camera performance still unbelievable to me.
Using P30 pro in 2022 and still can go toe to toe with s22 ultra, imagine how it felt like in 2019

I still have mine but it's getting repaired atm. It's truly an amazing phone. I still get like 8 hours screen on time
I'm getting this phone delivered tomorrow, can't wait!! I've had a p20 pro for the last two years, and still works as good as the day I bought it, best phone I've ever had, don't think I'd go to another phone company now.

I only agree 93 per cent because I'm 7 per cent a spastic.
Does this phone have stereo speakers then? Having used 2 speaks for like 3 years now, I cant go back to 1 speaker setup when listing to videos
i only wanna know if it has color tint problem, which most OLED screen's main issue compare to LCD. i bought Oneplus 7t which had exactly this issue display too yellow-ish/green tint, hurt my eyes after watching long time so i return it.
