Wrapped up like an Egyptian pharaoh . AHHAHAHAHAHA ! That was a great one . I'm glad I caught this video and I apologize that I don't get to sit down often enough to watch more . You asked me one time if I wasn't watching your videos because I thought the content was boring . Not at all . When I started the job it took some time away and when I started becoming a favorite of all the managers I lost more time because they wanted me there more . I love your videos Especially the ones with new steel . The knowledge I have of the components of a katana I learned from you . Your format is relaxed and easy to follow . I actually recommend your channel to anyone who is new to swords because there is no better teacher on KZread .

@@Katana-Karl you don't have to thank me for being honest . Remember , you kinda walking me through the Sino order form ? If you do hold that thought . After I ordered my sword from Swords of Northshire Brice sent me their extensive fittings catalog for an even more CustomSword sword and an order from . Because of the knowledge I gained from you I was able to proudly walk through the process saying " I know that and that and that . Now , I want this , this and this " Thank you my friend

That Choji is really impressive, have you seen the clay pattern they put on the blades to achieve those? I would never think of claying the blade like that, with little stick lines so close to the edge, you woildn't think it would end up the way it does.

Gorgeous hamons, the choji in particular. Nice xmas presents to yourself! Odd about the lack of sharpness. the TH one I got recently was the sharpest flat-ground blade you could ask for. Been modifying it lately and really starting to like it. Same thing about the saya, it was shimmed and wayyy too tight. Had to file it out a bit. I think all the oil in the saya swelled it over time during shipping, because my saya is totally satched. Thanks for the still shots at the end there.

The wood of the Shirasaya katana is probably Huali a type of rosewood that is very hard like ebony wood. I love the hamon on both your blades. For me what matters is getting a t10 or 1095 steel that is well forged and clay tempered with a fantastic hamon. Nice video man. 😎👍💯 BTW are you able to disassemble the handle on your shirasaya?

I woulda gone nuts. Glad you finally got them! Good thing you are a Ken Onion Work Sharp expert. :) I would tell Jackie that it came dull. He would probably give you a small refund for the inconvenience. I had a slight miscommunication with him regarding the pre-negotiated price due to taxes/tarrif that was added to the cost that I wasn’t expecting, so he sent me a refund if $20 per sword. I didn’t know about the tax. It wasn’t his fault and he didn’t need to do that, especially with the free expedited shipping. He really wants everyone happy. I couldn’t be happier with (my) swords. Karl... the swords took close to 2 months to arrive, they came dull, severe saya rattle, loose ito over menuki, the sori was .25 inch too shallow, you hate the shoelace sageo, and you are impressed and would buy again?? Makes me wonder if you are used to having so many issues with swords. Shouldn’t have to repair and change so many things out of the box, even if you know how to easily solve these issues. Eric wants you to give him cutting impression on if the deep Sori is balanced well due to its shape.

  • @Katana-Karl

Lol I absolutely would buy from Huawei again. As a matter if fact I already did. Should be here in about a month. I have many china made katana that are $400 and lower and a few katana that are $1000 and up. The expensive ones are absolutely perfect. Just like the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." If your expecting a sub $400 katana to be perfect your expectations are a bit high. Imo. ESPECIALLY from a chinese forge. And if you do have cheaper katana that is perfect you got lucky. The ito thats over the menuki is tight but I can move it with my thumb if I push hard. And if they take their measurements of the sori with the kashira and kissaki in the flat surface then the sori is right. But when I measure it I place the habaki and kissaki on the flat surface with the tsuka off the table. But the dullness and the low quality sageo were a slight disappointment but not a deal breaker.

For supposedly "stock" items none the less. Also, although communication with them was ok it's no where near the way Van Yang is.
